Hey everyone,

Ordered my iMac from the UK Online Apple Store on the 15th of January. Am still in processing, with an estimated ship date of "12 Feb, 2013 - 19 Feb, 2013".

Configuration is as follows:
-3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
-8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB (plan to upgrade myself to 24GB)
-1TB Fusion Drive
-NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 680MX 2G GDDR5

I've called local Apple Stores in central London to see whether they ever get any models with the 1TB Fusion drive. I've been told several times that the only way to get this upgrade is to order online. That being said, I've read conflicting reports in this forum from users saying they were able to purchase a Fusion Drive model from their local Apple Store. Any thoughts on that?

Also, I'm second guessing the order all together now that there are rumours of an updated Thunderbolt display release. I'm tempted to purchase a new 13" or 15" MB Pro and then purchase the 27" Display when it is released with intention of being able to easily sell the laptop in 2-3 years time and purchase the latest model. I'm probably just thinking out loud at this point, but am curious to know whether anyone else has been tempted to opt for a similar set up.

Thanks!

:-D i was surprised to see it had changed to be honest, when i checked this morning around 8am (UK time) it was still on "processing" so it must prove that they do work on Saturdays. Wonder if it will be Monday when i will get the "shipped" notification.

Also because i got it with a University HE student discount (UK) and i've been told that you get 3 years Apple Care for free, will i get a letter telling me this? i also ordered a USB superdrive so i'm guessing it will come as 2 packages.

I'm so glad its moved from "processing" to "shipping" now i've just got the wait of "shipped" and delivery

You will get AppleCare for free. HOWEVER. The free HE AC does not include telephone support. If you want that I'd phone and pay the £45-ish that it is.

Really pleased for you. I'm checking mine even more often now! It looks like they've finally started to ramp up production.

Fingers crossed everything is ok when it gets hear, been reading a few posts on the forum and a few people have been talking about different problems, chipped screens, image retention, bleeding screen, marks on the screens and so on :(

I would call Apple and do some serious complaining. Because if you ordered yours on Dec 27th, and people with the same exact configuration are having their ship already, when they ordered theirs on Jan 4th, then that's not right. What country are you in? I believe depending on which country you are in, may affect the ship date, but not by that much, maybe a day or so.

This site is helping me feel better as in I'm not the only one who is having to wait so long. I ordered my first iMac on Jan. 10th and still in the "processing" stage. US TN. It's estimated to deliver between Feb. 6-14.
3.4 GHz i7
16GB
1TB Fusion
680MX

Shipped!

Just keeping you guys in the loop. This one was Processing until 5:00 am (CST) today. It has now switched to Preparing for Shipment. I'm hoping to see it change to Shipped today, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Ok, this went from Preparing for Shipment to Shipped at 2:00 am (CST) today, and is currently at the Local FedEx Facility in Shanghai with an estimated delivery of Thursday, January 31st, which is one day sooner than the window of time originally provided (Feb 1st - 7th).

I just ordered a 27" today:

  • 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
  • 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
  • 1TB Fusion Drive
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5

5 weeks delivery!!! To be delivered by Feb 27th.

If I run into one available at the local Apple Store (30 minutes away) I'll buy it there and cancel this order.

I got lucky. I found the same unit at the Barton Creek Square Apple Store in Austin. These are what they are shipping as the "max" to the local Austin stores, and they are sold out by end-of-day every day they receive some.

I just canceled my online order, and will begin uboxing my new iMac as soon as I clean up my desk.

Thanks , it's easier for you to post the order date rather than having others try to chase it down. It helps the others still waiting for preparing to ship to figure out when theirs may ship.

Agreed. Figured it'd go into preparing soon since last night the iMac turned into a box picture on the apple site then turned back into an iMac earlier this morning so was a little bummed but yay. Now to wonder how long it'll take to arrive.
