Is this true for all iMacs? Only the 27", or only those who are dangerously near the 4 week limit? Only USA or all countries?
I was referring to the complementary express delivery.

The rep told me that ALL 27" iMacs are receiving the Express Shipping. I would assume that "all" means what it means, and that means that all 27" iMacs, no matter which country they are going to. Because they are just trying to get them to the customer as fast as possible, regardless of Country.

Did you go for Standard or Express Shipping when you checked out? By the looks of when yours shipped, compared to the delivery date, you in fact did receive express shipping.

I went for standard shipping, but after getting impatient because of how long it was stuck on "processing" I called Apple and they were so apologetic they granted me express shipping free of charge

You if that was true and someone like me did pay $30.00 for express shipping they should refund that part back to me but on my order it does say 2-3 day delivery after shipped. Delivers Feb 11 - Feb 19 via 2-3 Business Days

So maybe that is the difference for me.

Well, I have my RAM.....

I got home after a weekend away to find 32GB of lovely RAM from Crucial. I just need my iMac now.
Ordered 1st Jan, finance processed 8th Jan, still processing....

Has yours gone to Preparing For Shipment or has it shipped yet? If it hasn't, then when it does, pay close attention to the final price that is charged to your card. Who knows, maybe Apple will charge you -$30, seeing as how "everyone is getting Express Shipping". Notice, I put that in quotation marks, because I've only heard it from Apple reps, though I haven't verified it. Though it does seem to be true, because PhillyAnt selected Standard Shipping, and when his shipping on Friday, he received it the following Monday morning. Who really knows. Maybe later 27" iMac orders are give Express Shipping, maybe a select number of them are. I can't say for sure, because I don't have access to the data myself.

Though, I'm not sure about people who paid the $30 for Express Shipping getting refunded that amount. That's something you'd have to call up Apple about and ask them.

thanks :) thats amazing given its 5am in China now.!

I can almost guarantee that they have their laborers working 24 hours in order to get orders out. So that doesn't really surprise me at all. Also, you have to remember, there is probably a delay between when the item starts getting built, and when the status actually updates. But who knows. All I know is that makes me want to check every hour, because I know that there's a possibility of it changing, from hour to hour. Or even minute to minute? Ehh, I'm not gunna go that far.

Edit: Nope, mine stilllll says Processing. I hoping that maybe tomorrow it may go to Preparing For Shipment, because that seems to be the pattern. Since a couple days ago it was people's orders that ordered on the 6th and 7th getting prepped, now today, it's peoples orders that were ordered on the 9th getting prepped...

I cant even remember the option for express shipping when I checked out, It simply said i was eligible for free shipping, I may have it wrong, but Im pretty sure I would have noticed and selected it.

NO mine has not went to prepared for shipment mode yet. But I will be watching the final amount they charge as if it is charged I may give them a call and get a free DVD external possibly.

There was a pull down menu in the section that said Free Shipping, and you would not see it if you did not click on free shipping to get the drop down option s for other shipping speed. That's how I found it. But will it do me any good? In about 7-10 days I will know the answer to that.

i just got an e-mail from Apple title shipping notice. i got excited for a second then realised that it was for the TB adapter and cable I ordered only a couple f hours ago. Wish my iMac moved that quickly. Made me jump for a moment though.

I think there is something in these temp holds Apple are putting on peoples cards some weeks after the initial order and initial money hold has dropped off. I wonder if they are doing that before the order starts the Manufacturing process. Would be interesting to see if there was a pattern.

Ive just checked again ( I'm in the UK) and when it said 'edit shipping' there were no options, just delivery 3-7 days. I had a look about but it seems to me anyway that isnt an option here.

After losing the 'Cancel' button Friday, my order has just gone to 'Preparing for Shipment' this morning (ordered 7th Jan, Apple Store online)

I think "Preparing for shipment" = building + preparing for shipment. Otherwise, they might have a lot of people canceling while their BTO system was in progress before it went to preparing for shipment.

Just a thought.

ordered on apple online two days ago. it said late Feb to early March. Did not like that at all so I called a local Apple store today and they had it!

currently typing this on my new 27" iMac!

3.4 i7
8GB RAM (upgrading to 16GB by crucial)
1TB fusion drive
680mx

guess I'm one of the lucky ones in SD!
