Called Apple to see about the status of the iMac order I placed last week. The girl was super nice and apologized for the delay in getting the iMac built. She upgraded me to next day shipping at no charge! Now they just need to get the damn thing made.

I called Apple to enquire about my online order placed January 18th. Wasn't any help at all 🙁 Just read off the same estimated delivery of 18th-25th Feb and couldn't tell me if it may come sooner or why a lot of others ordered before me have already been shipped.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered 21/1 with delivery 19-26 Feb. I have rung a few times but have received the same response. I have no idea how people get 'freebies' out of apple as they are definitely not forthcoming when I ring them and speak nicely.

Actually I just had a look in the spreadsheet and orders to Oz are typically only taking 3-5 days so my guess is they still can easily make the projected delivery dates even if they don't go preparing until early next week. I would rather it today/tomorrow but I think it will be more than likely it will happen next week after Chinese New Year.

I called this number last week, and got free superdrive + faster shipment.
Mine is 19-26 Feb too.
Unfortunately, that number is for the US, I'm in Australia so have to call the local number here. I think I have ended up speaking to someone in the US just about every time I called anyway (the funny accent sort of gave them away 🙂 )
By the way I wasn't actually after anything as a freebie just asked about any updates they may have had and whether things are getting faster or not. Would have taken one if offered but they never did.

The free drives and stuff is only US exclusive. Apple in Norway also didn't offer me anything. It's not apple's fault either.
Before we click the "buy" button, it clearly says "ships in 3-4 weeks". Then we get an estimated delivery date which is in 3-4 weeks.
We don't have any solid case until the 4 weeks are over.
It seems a bit stupid to call them and say:
"hello, I know you said 3-4 weeks when I placed the order. But you know what? i dont care what you said. Why should i wait 3-4 weeks?? Give me something NOW!!!!!!!!" 🙂
But it's okay. The consumers are very well protected by the law in Norway. Every product which should last 5 years or more (mobiles,computers,sofas,TVs), are to be fixed by the company which sold them if there is a fault in the product NOT caused by the buyer. This "protection" is for 5 years. Almost no one buys Apple care here, since the law covers us for 5 years.
So, you win some, you lose some🙂

It was the fonts. Very odd I thought but he said he heard of the fonts being corrupted before. Reinstall and it's ok now.
How do you like your new mac? You think you will ever buy a windows machine again?

Loving it. Going to buy a new desk for it today! I can't believe how quiet it is, my old windows machine was like having a leaf blower in the room!
Too early to tell, I think once I get enough confidence and put Windows on this thing I'll be able to give you an answer.
Ran a game last night and no matter what settings I choose the machine didn't bat an eyelid, it was only Football Manager 2013, can't wait to get some other games on this beast! 😀
5 FIVE years, sure? Here in DK we have 2 years, and that's more than other countries as far as I know , perhaps one should consider buying in Norway instead, just a small ferry travel from where I live 😉
My iMac has just shipped, how do I track it, do they use TNT here in Scandinavia?
What about RAM, have you added some, and is it crucial or Kingston or other, what is best/cheapest, do you know that?
Mine has just been delivered - Germany gave in and released it at 3am and it was by my desk at half-10.
But I've got meetings, so it's outside the room taunting me.
Mine was released too, but there's no further notice, it's stll in enemy territory. It will be a long journey.
If i have understand how UPS works, now it should be en route for scandinavia, then it will arrive in Italy through South Africa.

My order 3.4 i7, 680mx, 3TB Fusion is still processing, ordered JAN 19. I called apple this morning and they stated absolutely no orders jumped line, even if the harddrive was different. She stated that a 1TB fusion, other specs remaining same, would not get built before my 3TB, other specs remaining same, it went on order date. Of course we know this is bull, as the spreadsheet proves this is wrong. And of course she did upgrade me to business 2-day shipping, which is already occuring on most iMac's.
Make sure your bank allows such a large transaction. I used my bank check card, and the online order got marked as fraudulent and it didn't go through, I had to talk to my bank to confirm the purchase then call Apple to manually do the purchase again. Ordered on Jan. 21, and it is now preparing to ship. It should have went out yesterday 🙁 just a heads up to everyone else waiting!

Sooo happy it has finally arrived. Still in the process of unpacking/unwrapping. So far looks perfect. Will update once I've had it on and tested it out a bit.
received my imac but unfortunately there was some dirt under the screen, called apple and they will send me a new one.
