Apple wasn't kidding when they warned us about the jet black iPhone 7's being prone to scratches. I'm positive that you'll eventually find scratches on your jet black baby even if you use a case since dirt and who knows what else will eventually make it's way inside. Beware OCD JB iPhone 7!

I have a 7+ JB on order. Sadly, my pre-order is scheduled for 10/4-10/10.

The plan now is to wait in line on launch day for either black and buy what's available.

As for scratching, I'm fairly picky, so I'm not sure the JB will work for me, but I'm on a yearly upgrade plan now. Worse comes to worse, I'll put it in a leather case after it scratches.

If they scratch that easily/soon then a lot of people will probably use the 14 day return policy to change to another colour.

I think this will become unpopular very soon. I think its funny how the pendulum swings though. After the iPhone 3g, I wanted nothing to do with a gloss black finish. But I am VERY OCD, so any type of fingerprints or micro-abrasions that pop up bug me to death! For those reasons, I have stuck with white ever since.

Now if Apple comes out with a matte navy blue (which was rumored for a while), I will definitely step outside my comfort zone for that!

OCD or not, that video review showed that JB to be pretty scratched up after only a few days of owning it.

I find it really weird that they released a colour that scratches so easily. Saw the review and dammmn they scratch fast. (Relieved I went with with Matte Black)

Kind of like they released it just because they wanted to release a new (major) colour to give the illusion that the design is "newer".....do you guys think if they would NOT have released this new major colour, people would have complained about the old design????

It's like buying a black car. Just enjoy the thing. No one will care if your phone has scratches.
i thought the same thing till the review of just picking up scratches from in and out of your pants.
Cars have a clear coat that do not hurt the finish under it and can be polished out. Till of course the clear wears out. Seems like these don't really have much of that going on so its straight to the metal (besides that small coating they have similar to the glass screen).
They should of put some kind of clear coat on them. sigh.
I canceled my jet black order. sticking with black

Soooo happy I went with Matte. As soon as I saw that JB i was like ewww personally. People act like those scratches wont bother them now but I can guarantee you once they get them in hand and start to get those micro scratches on them, they will be whining and ready to return them.

Need to see the scratch test videos first but okay. The same guy who scratched up the Note7 which only got to Level 3.

Personally, I don't give a damn anymore. Temporary gadgets in a temporary life to worry about petty things. Will be disposed again in a couple years. I don't plan to hold a museum in my household with any of these phones that breeds OCD. Keeping it mint is doing favors for your future buyer who is likely some random stranger.

But my feeling for matte black goes up from 55% to 60%. I also want to see a scratch test on that. If the jet black has same color underneath, I would rather get that one. Matte black will likely show a different color being aluminum like a scratched up slate iPhone 5. That's uglier to me. Scratches should have SAME COLOR underneath.

Very true but you have your people who would sleep with their iPhone if they had the chance and that will be the ones that will go crazy over it lol.
