Wow! After seeing this and everyone talking about how bad the Jet Black scratches I canceled my order!

I'm going from the Matt Black to the Jet Black. :) It's a phone people!

Read through most of the reviews that were posted today, every single one of them mentions that the phone, as careful as they are with it, accumulates scratches or scuffs.

That makes me a little happier that I switched for the Black version at the absolute last second, or does it?

However, I'm OK with swirl marks, and if that's what they consider scratches, maybe the Jet Black was the way to go? I used to be nutty with the finish on my cars, I hated swirl marks, would use new microfiber rags to wash the car, go through all of these elaborate ways to dry it like using my leaf blower so keep the swirls from accumulating. It was a lot of effort.

Now, in my mid 30's having a 14 month old, some of these cares naturally go away. I have a nicer car than I ever had, yet I'm not worried about the swirls (rock ships and actual scratches still bother me, and if I get a dent, it's off to the dent wizard), but the small imperfections don't even phase me.

What's the point of this story? I'm not sure most of the reviewers think in this way, are swirls considered scratches? If the finish of the new Jet Black phones accumulated swirl marks and other marks you can only see in the right lighting...then who cares, I wouldn't. However, if basic contact with desk tops, pocket lint and a little dirty physically scratch the phone, that would bother me. It is what it is at this point, I'm going to enjoy my Black 7 Plus and oogle over the Jet Black's when I see them in the wild. But for those of you who have a JB on the way, enjoy it, because it's probably one of the best looking things I've seen from Apple in a while. I'm also interested to see some week after reviews from people who think in the same way as I do!

btw, just checked my shipping info, it's out of China, in Korea now.

Arrived - Incheon, Korea, Republic of, Tuesday, 09/13/2016

Wow

And Apple said NO, NO, NO.
The return line for the first 2 weeks will be full of JB.

For me, I'm going to get my popcorn ready, and sit back and relax and start reading all the posts of their scratched jet black iPhones. It's going to happen folks. :)
Me too. It will be quite entertaining.

Of course it's going to scratch.. no case on it? I'm stunned! Seriously, do these reviewers like to just crap all over stuff without doing any real testing? I've seen zero reviews that prove anything about the scratching.. Apple on their own website said it would scratch and recommend a case! These guys are making something out of nothing.. wouldn't be an Apple release without that happening.. again.. and again.. and again.

i thought the same thing till the review of just picking up scratches from in and out of your pants.
Cars have a clear coat that do not hurt the finish under it and can be polished out. Till of course the clear wears out. Seems like these don't really have much of that going on so its straight to the metal (besides that small coating they have similar to the glass screen).
They should of put some kind of clear coat on them. sigh.
I canceled my jet black order. sticking with black

How long do you plan on keeping it though? It's not going to look horrible. Micro scratches are not a big deal. You won't have deep gouges that you will feel. And black cars are almost never swirl less now matter what you do it.

I know scratching is a possibility.. and I'm sure I'll hate it, but that's a risk I'm taking.

Keep canceling your JB iPhone orders, people... that way mine can arrive faster ;)

hahaha exactly what i thought, these who are scared should cancel their Jet black preorders so that us who want to keep the jet black can receive our phones quicker!

I mean seriously give me a break man, im putting a case on the thing since day 1, other than that i don't care what happens to the phone because im going to have a screen protector on the screen and a complete case from spigen on the body with a full bezel protector as well back protection with a clear back so you can see the beauty of the phone, simple.

matte black owners took the safe route, which is great, its a nice looking phone too, the only problem is that it looks just like the last 2 generations of the iPhone :)

Not sure what the big deal is getting a Jet Black with that full military grade wrap around - I can hear it now

"say dude, what kind a phone is that?"
