too lazy to read through 100+ comments to see if anyone else has already stated this so forgive me if so

if apple indeed holds off on announcing the ipad mini till a later "music event" i feel it adds more weight to my earlier prediction of this new device actually being an ipod XL, all while still preserving the word of SJ as to a 7" tablet being DOA...but a 7" ipod now that is genius! lol, we'll see

I really don't see the ~8" Apple device being marketed as the iPod. The iPod brand has lost quite a bit of its "freshness"; the iPhone and the iPad are the cool(er) kids on the block now. Also, most people think of iPods as pocketable/wearable devices which is what the smaller ~8" Apple tablet most certainly won't be.
And I wouldn't hold on to what SJ once said. There are countless examples where he'd say one thing and then he and Apple would do the complete opposite. Besides, he's now gone, and I don't think "preserving his word" is really what Apple cares or cared about. The important thing is preserving his philosophy.

Anyway, just my 2¢; with little more patience, we'll see :D

I was hoping the iPad Mini would get released sooner, rather than later.

How cool is Slash? The guy is a US national treasure.

Yet he is british to the bone. Check out the fab Concert BluRay "Made in Stoke" where Slash and band rock his home town's hall. He lived in Stoke on Trent for seven years as I seem to remember.

But WTF! I got so damn excited when I saw Slash just hoping for some Logic announcement - and now that tyical bummer XYZ mumbles about XYZ media event when XYZ iOS device will be shown.

There hasn't been a "one more thing" in years. Even when Steve was still around.

That's not entirely correct. The last time Steve Jobs said "one more thing" was when he introduced iTunes Match, and that wasn't -that- long ago. Okay, he also said that it was just "a small thing", but he used the famous Columbo phrase.

In regard to physical products... Well. I think the last "exciting" product announcement Apple made was when they introduced the Intel iMac...

Don't forget the rumors of the new and revamped iTunes. That would fit the Music event more than an iPhone event. And iPad mini could be kind of a iPod maxi.A device for on the go. Music, movies, books. That kind of device people say 7 inch is good. If books management were to be added to iTunes it would become veeery clumsy to use, so the redesign would be really needed...

If it does come out, there will be no apology from me...rather...I'll just call the folks at Apple who let this come to pass idiots.

My only problem with the mini is it's undoubtedly taking some valuable screen away from the iPhone.

It really depends on what you do with it. While I love the large screen, attempting to use 10-inch iPad with one hand over extended period (or even short period of time) isn't easy.

8-inch is probably the largest form factor for allowing one hand operation. If rumors are true, my only complaint would be non-retina screen.
Now I'm confused. Half the people here are bitching they can't operate a 4" phone with one hand...

Smart to break them up. Also good not to detract any potential iPhone 5 buyers from not buying because the mini could satisfy some of their needs.

Two seperate events? If you want to call it that, sure. But they'll be back to back, seperated only by the phrase "Oh, and one more thing..."

Long live Steve!

guns and roses was not good music!

I always wonder what Slash looks like without the hat, without the shades and a pony tale. I bet Slash doesn't even know what that looks like.

He looks the same, just with his hair pulled back. I saw him with the Snakepit in Buffalo a while back (at like 11:00am, surprisingly), and he was warming up for a show later that day. *Completely* kicked ass, by the way.

I would believe Jim Dalrymple for this one, he is wearing a Black Label Society vest, after all! :)

Which one is which? And who is Jim Dalrymble and why do we believe things he says? Is he an analyst or did he work for Apple?

Jim is the heavyset guy with the beard. He's a journalist with an exceptional track record of confirming dates for apple events and product details. I've never seen him be wrong when he decides to confirm something. I've also never seen him to be the first one to confirm anything, however.

This is his site: http://www.loopinsight.com/

Sorry, I meant holding the device with one hand.
