Tim Cook takes to stage, announces iPhone 6 which is exactly the same as iPhone 5S but with Beats Audio! Then cracks a joke to say he told you he doubled down on secrecy, you guys thought we were going to make a bigger phone!

Humor is not your strong suit.

It's an unending refrain here on MR. People get their panties in a knot over the dumbest things. For their sake, I'm hoping they announce that Snoop Dog is taking over as lead designer and the Solid Gold Dancers all receive a chair on the Board of directors.

Lol, I want this to happen so the too hip, too cool and too white fans head will explode. :D

Them hipsters be mad.

Yeah because they Electronic music desperately in need of TRAP music and yes it is still rap music sampling Electronics beats over rap music but all it they needed to do is add a T in front of Rap talk about Hipsters ruining the scene.

I mean, I'd be down with an iPhone Beats Edition. Sexy matte black phone, red ring around the TouchID home button and matte red aluminum band around the outer edge of the phone. Tasteful red Beats logo near the FCC ID on the back of the phone. Bring it on.

I'm honestly confused. How would this acquisition change the mix of music offered by Apple? Also, how does Beats = Rap/Hip Hop? I know that fits the narrative that's currently percolating below the surface of all the Beats threads, but it's pretty myopic in my opinion. Never before has MacRumors resembled Yahoo's comment section until this Beats rumor surfaced.

Maybe this would help crush some of the BS floating in the Beats threads. See, we don't have to lock our doors and hide our daughters. :rolleyes:Bolded: Apple doesn't force you to buy music you don't like; products either.

Sorry but those headphones look fugly and this is just my opinion but rather save my money and get a decent Bose headphone and the only reason people like the headphones or anything that is Beats because it is a trend before everyone wanted a PC or Microsoft few years later came a iPod and now everyone wanted a Apple product this is just the same thing every generation there are "hipsters" and it is normal also remember once again the reason of the popularity behind behind Beats is because of who promotes it and now joining Apple it will make them successful as well as Apple.

After reading these threads, I'm embarrassed to be an Apple fan. Some people need to grow up.

Looking forward to their keynotes @ WWDC 2014

Yeah because if their speeches were anything like the gangsta, "sh** yo, billionaire yo" vid that they just came out with last week then there should be lines of people lining up for that. Please.....

Nope but the ones who mention fried chicken, watermelons, thugs and ghettos definitely are.

Just saying.

Funny thing, I'd rather deal with those people. I know what I'm getting into. Just avoid them. It's the ones with the veiled commentary that I worry about more.

If this rumored acquisitions gets me some products and services that fit into my use case then that's great. If not, no big deal.

IMHO i don't care who Apple buys as long as i get a refreshed Mac Mini, iPhone and IPad.

I don't wear headphones because it's too hot and i can't hear anyways. As far as fashion goes, ahhhh flip flops and shorts with a cocktail.

Oh most definitely. There's plenty of people making veiled comments too, but you can tell who they are also.

Just saying that disagreeing with this deal doesn't make a person racist, its all the other stuff that does.

The irony of you choosing Bose is not wasted on me. Audiophiles laugh at Bose just like you deride Beats. The unattractive look of the headphones is your opinion, so I can respect the validity in that. Your assertion for others buying Beats only because it's trendy; it's still an opinion, but so much less valid because you have no idea of another person's motivation.

You said Bose:eek:

I hate Hip Hop and "urban" culture (thanks political correctness for saving my ass on that one) in general, but this deal doesn't bother me in the slightest.

You have to hand it to Dr. Dre, he built a great business and a widely recognized brand.

Apple can build on that foundation with their brilliant engineering.

I for my part will relax now and wait how the new products turn out.

Would that pump up the perceived value of the Beats brand or pull down the perceived value of the Apple brand?

I think back to AT&T before and after the iPhone exclusive began. They were generally viewed as the devil before but then they got a kind of Apple "endorsement" and were half-sainted here. For a few years, gripes against AT&T were almost like gripes against Apple per some of the fierce defenders I can recall. Then, Apple "endorsed" other carriers and the AT&T (exclusive) halo was allowed to tarnish a bit, though it still has it's staunch defenders.

Is Beats going to be AT&T'd around here?

If Dre come's on stage with Tim Cook in a purple low-rider with hydraulics then I'm sold.

Certainly wouldn't be anymore ridiculous than when then Intel CEO Paul Otelini came on stage at WWDC 05 dressed in a bunny suit.

Not excited at all

I hope Apple decided to partner up with Beats to get a growing streaming service. Because if they were seeking for knowledge in audio technology Beats would be an awful partner since their headphones may look nice but sound awful. Every time I see one of those 16 year old douches with their 400$ pair of beats I have a hard time to hold back my vomit....

This is a run-on sentence.

Buying Steve Jobs replacements (in relation to music) will cost Apple $3.2 billion and increase headcount by 2.

Look for Apple to do the same on the movie side soon?

The beginning of the end...

Apple has wanted to launch a streaming service, but couldn't because they couldn't find licensing deals that were cheap enough. The beats acquisition would solve this issue. This isn't about the headphones (which suck btw). It's about apple getting streaming rights at a low price, which I assume would keep the subscription costs lower.

It was meant as a joke. I thought the answer might be something like, "as a hammer."

Anyway, I don't agree with the concept that Apple will walk away from $1.2B in annual revenue. Whether you or anyone else on these boards likes the Beats headphones is really quite besides the point. Lots of people do, apparently, and their revenue is real money.

Are people confused by this deal necessarily racists?

Just asking.

No. They think you can hang around with black people, and even sleep with them. But they think it is wrong to be seen with black people in public, publicise that on Instagram or bring them to NBA games.
