****ing A, man. I wonder when people will learn that political correctness dilutes the message. If everything's offensive, nothing's offensive.

I hear you. I still think the Beats purchase was a waste of money and have criticized Iovine and Dre plenty. But this is criticism for the sake of complaining. Some people seem to make excuses to attack others for speaking their mind.

A friend is an English teacher for international students. He opens classes each day with a news article. Today he showed this article. None of them understood what was offensive. He later showed the article to his coworkers. Older coworkers (even female) did not understand what was offensive. Younger coworkers (even male) tended to be offended.

From that I gather political correctness is just something fashionable now. It's not that people really care. They just want to be seen as caring.

We freak out over and obsess at the exact wording of every semi-celebrity's words and yet we don't seem to take offense to other things like the rampant wave of hipster beards or the return of skinny jeans. When did trendy switch from metrosexual to unhygenic crumb catcher?

Oh wait, did I offend someone. Of course I'm suppose to be politically correct. We live in a society where I have to worry about someone's feelings to the point I can say anything about how much of a moron they might be.

+1 for hipster beards. Don't forget plaid vests even on hot days and thick glasses with no magnification (at least in LA)

No points for guess which gender you are.
Said the person claiming "white male privilege" on someone whose race, gender, orientation and everything else you don't have the slightest idea about and can only make ridiculous assumptions.
God forbid any non-white, non-male person see this as a non-issue. Let's get out the white male-bashing bat and swing blindly in the dark with it.
The hypocrisy of that itself being misandrist clearly eludes you.

Apple in one New York Minute... dove off their perch above other lesser successful companies in a vain attempt to gain "street cred." All in a desperate attempt to become credible enough to take over the streaming music business. Dropped a cool $3 billion in the process, to prove they too could afford Cristal Champagne for the house... yet provided everyone that signed up free service because they didn't have the confidence to charge for what is ultimately a product that's still sucking wind.

That and the rest of your comment is utterly idiotic ignorance personified.

OMFG. Get over. Way too hypersensitive Society we live in is a joke.

I once wrote that many of the macrumors forum members were "sensitive pansies." Ironically, I was suspended for a day for that comment because I offended someone.

He shouldn't have specifically said it was directly targeted towards women. If he didn't do that, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

I just laughed when I saw the news story on The Verge.
I agree with you here, women aren't the only ones who need break-up music playlists!

Ever notice how, in commercials on TV, when an ad is trying to make someone in the ad look like the fool or idiot, it's usually the husband/boyfriend/male and not the wife/girlfriend/female? To do the latter causes calls for boycotting the company/product, but no one feels the same when the man is belittled.
In response to this issue I have a post going up on my blog Badass Now tomorrow at 10 AM about gender equality lies. Check it out if you want.

What about his Apple Beats buddy Dre? Beating up journalist Dee Barnes at a party while a bodyguard kept watch. Apple Music = staring into a toilet bowl.

Overblown topic by the hysterical female rabble, who we do not hear speaking out about women's subjugation, genital mutilation, rape, and shame murders in the Muslim religion, because they are a sacred cow of the left. Same for Black Lives Matter, that ignores the incredible but true statistics of black on black murder.

Apple recently debuted a new Apple Music ad, starring singer Mary J. Blige and actresses Taraji P. Henson and Kerry Washington, during the 2015 Emmy Awards.

In the one-minute spot, focused on Apple Music playlists, Washington says that Apple's curated playlists are like having "a boyfriend who creates you a mixtape -- in your laptop."

Jimmy Iovine, who joined Apple in 2014 following the company's acquisition of Beats Electronics, has made headlines today following controversial comments he made about women on CBS This Morning today in relation to the ad.

CBS has made the video clip unavailable to viewers outside the U.S. -- Mirror

In particular, when asked to explain his thinking behind the Emmy ad, Iovine said that "women find it very difficult at times -- some women -- to find music, ...and [Apple Music] helps makes it easier with playlists curated by real people." He proceeded to mention the problem of girls "sitting around" and "talking about boys."

The Verge transcribes:Iovine's comments have been widely criticized on Twitter and in several media outlets.

Update: Jimmy Iovine has provided BuzzFeed with an apology, saying "I could have chosen my words better."Note: Due to the political nature of the discussion regarding this topic, the discussion thread is located in our Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum. I am honestly curious why.

I'm a dude. This guy thinks I'm better at finding music and you're worse at it.

Because of our genders alone.

That honesty doesn't bother you? Do you think it's true?
Your statement is probably true in regards to that user and
A lot of Semi-misogynistic posters on this forum.
Nothing new. Race, sexuality, and gender posts bring out the phobics here

Wow...

You know, I'm a huge liberal. I believe that sexism is a legitimate problem in our society, as is racism and the like.

But I've noticed in the past ten years that a bunch of idiotic harebrained social justice warriors have begun to ACTIVELY SEARCH for things to be offended by. They will ruthlessly take anything you say completely out of context in order to paint you as some mysogynistic women-beating monster. They are less interested in actually fixing sexism than they are in pointing their fingers and calling people sexists.

We're turning in to a lock-step society where people believe it is their constitutional right to never be offended by ANYTHING. If you happen to say something that they misconstrue which offends their delicate sensibilities, they whine and shriek that you're an evil sexist monster.

Seriously, social justice warriors, there are legitimate problems with sexism in this country. Serious issues. But in a way that mystifies and astonishes me to this very day, the social justice warriors manage to turn a righteous cause into an idiotic finger-pointing campaign against people who obviously aren't trying to be sexist.

Somehow, those idiots have managed to turn the country against them even though most people agree with them on the most basic points.

And this is the best part. These same social justice warrior morons will defend the Islamic religion to their dying breath. They've somehow gotten this idea into their idiotic brains that arguing against a religion is somehow racist. ISLAM! The most oppressive, violent, and woman-hating religion on the face of the earth, and these same exact people will supposedly tell you they are trying to fight against sexism.

Just...wow. I try so hard in my every day speech and language to be mindful of privilege and sexism in society, there is NO need to shriek every time someone mistakenly says something that the social justice warriors take completely out of context. There are bigger problems out there than that.
Well you you started off on the right track...

Seriously?! With all that's happened in the past 7 days and this is making headlines..
People are complex human beings and can prioritize and discuss multiple subject matters at once. Imagine that!

Whats with the totally misleading headline?

This politically correct bs is getting way incorrect and way over the top.... Everywhere !

Too much.. Way out of ballance!

The guy said nothing.. As in "nothing" wrong...
Whats up with these anal activist????
Chill....
The irony with your last word is great.

Ya. White males are so oppressed.

I don't need a different set of genitalia to understand, analyze and come to a valid conclusion about a comment.
Maybe a different set would help understanding the difference between gender and sex.
Don't worry. People who are unable to engage in mature discussion will often label you as a "politically correct" "social justice warrior" that "gets offended by everything". It's just parroting empty talking points as if they were derogatory terms to label opinions they neither are able to comprehend nor engage with.
Yes.

It's the same diversion tactics golfer boy models for his adoring supporters. The USA hasn't had anyone at the top rung that's as weak and spineless as golfer boy. He's done a fine job of shirking his duties.
