Maybe when Windows 10 S app comes out as it has to run in the edge browser hence a web player then should come in a browser like Chrome and Safari.

Jimmy Iovine Says Apple Music Would Have '400 Million' Listeners If It Had a Free Version Like Spotify

What an amazingly stupid thing to say. Only from Apple do the clown embarrass themselves over and over. What a nuthouse Timmy runs.

My youtube channel would have over 800 million subscribers if I played Hollywood movies before their theatrical release for free, but I don't. So there Jimmy. My youtube channel is better than Apple Music.

Apple Music's biggest problem is the train wreck of an app that is iTunes. They need something sleek and stand-alone. Break up that monstrosity of an app and that'll help!

It always boils down to this. The core of many issues that plague Apple's push forward into more services.

I am really hoping this is what we'll finally see in macOS 10.13 this summer's WWDC.

The death of iTunes can't come sooner enough.

Or if it had a web player with remote control features, and better social features so you could use it at work like Spotify. Most people I know have premium, and it's these features that are why.

This. I pay for the premium Spotify and I should have cancelled Apple Music months ago. I use Spotify all the time because of the superior app, curated playlists, and social experience (also DJay app integration). I love seeing what my Facebook friends are listening to, and I've discovered a lot of new music this way.

Every time I end a phone call in my car and my iPhone starts playing Apple Music* instead of resuming Spotify I want to punch Tim Cook in the face.

* it's always "A" by Barenaked Ladies, meanwhile Spotify remembers where I am in a song even if it was played on another device!

You want me to pay for the artist of the minute and all you offer is lyrics and liner notes?

The music industry is a joke, it’s made up of producers who basically steal songs so reality show contest winners can exist. Mix that up with the new cuts from boring dancer/actor/singer/choreographer jokes trying to stretch out viability and executives who think they know what the world wants and here we are. And for what? So they can sell playlists so some artists is rammed down our throats 3 times per hour.

Occasionally some artist cracks it and the rest of you scramble to copy it and mass produce it. Which destroys the music. Nah, I’ll pass on your ideology. Besides were really not far off from some virus that renders the internet unusable anyway.

Apple music has screwed up so much of my paid for music that i refuse to use it. The way is replaces my paid for music with apple music streams is beyond unfair. I have switched to a paid for Spotify, but no way will I pay for apple music when the trial is over.

This guy. The opposite of think different. Their model is the same model HBO developed decades ago. Put both exclusive and non exclusive content behind a pay wall.
How about offering up a system that plays with everyone.

Hearing stuff like this from that doofus monkey is really cringey. Steve would've never hired that bimbo, he didn't even believe in the music subscription model if you watch his D conference interviews.
Yet, Steve and Jimmy hung out all the time.

No matter how hard you try to 'paint' the picture of a failing Apple - that reality will only exist in your head

Amen brother. Bloody playlists that sometimes don't sync, songs showing up as recently added when they aren't, different versions of songs popping up instead of the ones originally there, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't give up my subscription since I can honestly say I spend at least 6 hours a day with as much as 13 hours (I'm not kidding) listening to it and discovering new music but the medium (iTunes and iOS music app) needs to go back to basics and "just work".

Freaking "smart" playlist on Mac is in added order and the same playlist on iPhone is in most recently played and it rotates as it pleases. For someone who puts so much time curating his collection this is frustrating at best, I know, first world problems but what you want me to do? Get some real world problems? F that, I've done that already. Lol.

Let's be brave and take one or two steps back to get it right again please Apple.

Love you long time.

Iovine says:

In the beginning of Apple Music, I was very frustrated; I tried to fight [Spotify] and all those things.

Now all we can do is make Apple Music such a special place that people want to come and that will encourage more people [to subscribe].

In a way, isn't that the Apple philosophy? They don't try to "fight" the competition. They just offer the best they can, and the customers show up.

Now if only politicians and high-level government officials operated the same way...

Windows 10s Apps aren't coupled to the Browser, they're full programs, even Win32 apps that are just repackaged and distributed via the Windows Store.

Think of it like MacOS that's forced to use only the App Store.

Apple Music will never surpass Spotify if it doesn't have a free tier.

That said, screw low-bitrate "free" music.

Maybe we should have them write some songs, and get their salaries on the streaming rates so they understand what the artists are going through... they are so full of it...

I don't need a free tier, but a cheaper tier with reduced catalog, maybe new releases with 6 months delay, etc. I'd pony up 3-5 a month. 10 per month is too much for me, given my current music spend is maybe 2 albums a year.
