This is the proper way to hold your iPhone4.

This is the way this character holds his cell.
FYI, from a movie called "Death Note".

Thank Mabonic.

S.J is obviously healthy again. Full of piss and vinegar. Steve to consumers- "Don't like the phone, F.U" :D

Bad for Iphone 4 buyers (my 3gs wins! :)) but a healthy, arrogant Steve means more good things from Apple in he future.

Wow, this is not good press for apple and of course apple back peddling saying all phones do this. Seems kind of un-apple like. I mean they were touting how their new antenna system actually increased range and quality, now only to find out the opposite.

There answer to hold the phone differently is kind of bogus too.

You should apply for a position in the marketing department at Apple with the spin you just demonstrated with that post, seriously. Not quite up to par with "The Man" himself but definitely Cult-ivating none the less... :p

Remember the Hubble? They didn't pull it out of the sky or send it back. They just did something different and ended up with something better in the long run.
.

Actually they did. The went to it, pulled it into the cargo bay, and did physical repairs (added corrective lens) to allow it to work as it was designed to.

Nice. And your avatar is looking gooood...

(but I would never)

Read the thread. Several people who are in countries outside of the US have reported the same issue. In fact, on Engadget's post about this issue, they demoed it on a British iPhone on the O2-UK network. This is not AT&T's problem.
Who said UK is in Europe ?

... 'just kidding. :p

Okay, okay, sorry. I'm not gonna read 40+ pages of threads though, I have a life too.

I'm sorry but Apple commenting that we are all holding the phone incorrectly / hold it a different way is simply disgusting.

Sorry Steve, you can change many things but not years of evolution and ergonomics!!!

Move the antenna gap and relpace my phone, or give me a free bumper!

While I agree that Apple has to do something, giving free bumpers out is not the answer. There's absolutely no way I even want a bumper, I just want the damn phone to work.

just got off a half hour call with apple technical support.

They arent giving bumper cases as its a temporary fix and they want a permanent one

Should here about it this evening in UK time or tomorrow

Steve jobs email is not the voice of the company (though he is CEO) and so has no bearing on the issue

Engineers are working on it however they have io4 issues they are fixing at the moment (so iP4 isnt a priority to them surprisingly)

think thats about as useful as they will be, they said its because its a new fault and when i asked if they ever picked the phone up in testing because they would get this issue he said they cant confirm this is the issue despite all this evidence.

So take what you want from that basically there going to do something but its not a priority and they wont say anything else about it.

Ended by saying ill put my £600 apple phone in the drawn and get back on my windows mobile then !

That's not quite accurate. It only does the opposite, if you touch it in this specific place. Otherwise, most are reporting better range and quality.

Hmm... Sounds accurate enough to me. I guess you could never touch your phone and it would definitely provide improved signal. That's not so irrational now, is it?

I'm sorry, I know some of you are having problems and I don't blame you for being mad. But that email from Jobs just made me laugh. For a CEO of a huge company to say something like that to a customer is quite funny haha.

HTC Desire or iPhone 4, HTC Desire or iPhone 4, HTC Desire or iPhone 4,

That's been running around my head for weeks. I haven't been able to make a decision. I'm an Apple fan at heart, even bought the Apple Cube for goodness sakes!

But now I'm really going to do something which none of my friends can believe, I'm going droid! arghh Damn you Apple, if the phone worked as well as it looked I would still be 100% Apple. Oh well. Maybe the iPhone 5 will tempt me back.

Why am I not surprised the Japanese had a creative solution? ;)

Lefty

...A non issue unless you're left handed like me, and have been holding a phone in your left hand for almost 30 years. It's too late for me to train myself to hold it with the right (it's habit, I keep it in my left pocket, etc), nor should I have to change for one phone. I'll don't think I care to give Apple $30 extra $ to fix their problem, so I'll use clear vinyl or something to cover the antenna, since I hate using cases (why buy a thin phone and put it in a ticker case?). Maybe the Zagg Shield will be enough?
