"It seems like uh the shoes and the socks for some reason, it actually inhibits the calls for some reason, what they are thinking it actually is, is some kind of electrical frequency thats the phones arent actually entire grounded, so once you actually touch the black portion around the screen, it will actually lower the bars enough to drop your call"
Oh FFS... sounds like something they should've figured out 2 days into development of this design. Were all the field testers barefoot SF hippies or what?

California is a two party state in terms of recording.

Just recording the phone call was illegal. So you should probably delete it, and any trace of actually having it. Not only can you not share it, you can not make it in the first place without getting permission of the party you were talking to before you started recording.

Hey look, the guy defending Apples galactic screwup is telling you not to embarrass them more by posting it. So post it.

I am not defending anything... I just think most of you are non-thinking lemmings who don't know how to properly test or trouble shoot anything...

Certainly seems like you don't know how to use a simple cell phone properly.

I was informing the guy that recording a phone call of someone who is in a two party state is against the law... Bad me.... I was trying to help the guy out before he further purpotrated his crime.

Makes you a fairly big dbag for encouraging him to further his criminal behavior. Do you want him to get in trouble? Makes you a pretty big jerk no? Encouraging people to actively break the law is probably outside the MR terms and conditions as well.

You know a thread is long when people begin to post the same things over and over.

Like the joke "Doc - it hurts when I do this... then don't do that"

The collage of steve holding the phone wrong

the collage of the video where everyone is holding the phone wrong

etc...

I agree - but just to confirm/question - do we KNOW that the Apple Rep was in California and not in a call center elsewhere? Just askin'

I can't say it's a non issue. I generally use my left hand with my iPhone, making the iPhone 4 mostly unusable unless i hold it in an un-natural and awkward manner. Picking up the phone in the car to get out while on the headset dropped the call almost instantly.

I'd buy the stupid bumpers if they were in stock. Its awful that I have to buy an accessory to have a phone that I can talk without dropping a call.

I think I finally cracked it...

These might work too.

WWDC '10 - What really happened.

8:14 AM: Steve Jobs enters the stage. HUGE applause.

8:16 AM: Steve tells us he's kind-of excited today. Not very excited.

8:18 AM: Brings out Gray Powell. Has everyone throw tomatoes at Gray.

8:22 AM: Invites Mike Tyson to the stage to perform a public beat down of Gray Powell.

(30 minutes pass)

8:46 AM: Steve cracks his knuckles, then cracks his neck. "Now where was I, oh yea."

9:05 AM: Steve tells us glass is not strong, it's super duper strong. Cannot be broken, unless you drop it. Once.

9:09 AM: "In 2007, we announced the iPhone. Next, we debuted the iPhone 3G. We then refined the 3G, with the 3Gs. Today, we are redefining what we refined and are redefining the refinement for the revolution. I bring you....

(Long Pause)

The iCan'tHoldMyPhoneInMyLeftHand

It's revolutionary. It's magically delicious. It's amazing. It's VERY NIIICE (Borat voice). It's fun time. Its screen has brown splotches. It's super thin. It's perfection."

9:12 AM: RIDICULOUS APPLAUSE ENSUES.

9:18 AM: The applause is so loud, the WiFi network stops working. Steve tells everyone to stop clapping so he can show them demos. They don't listen. Clapping continues.

9:25 AM: A bitter Steve Jobs starts yelling at the crowd to stop clapping or he won't let them see his demos. Silence.

9:35 AM: During the Facetime demo, Steve gets interrupted by Kanye West. Kanye West states - "You're phone is awesome Steve, but Google's is way better. It's one of the best phone's of all time...ALL TIME!"

9:37 AM: Steve, not knowing what to do, exits the stage.

9:38 AM: John Mayer steps onto the stage and sings "Say What You Need To Say" until everyone voluntarily leaves the building.

End of Keynote

So I went to the Apple store tonight and spoke to a nice guy. I told him I'm having reception issues with my iPhone 4. He told me that if you hold the phone too tightly it can cause the signal to drop.

I asked him if that happens with all of the iPhone 4s or just some of them. He said all of them.

I asked if the bumper helps. He said yes, they help a lot. I asked if they had any in stock and they had sold out. I asked if they even had one I could just try out to see if it worked then order one from the website, but they didn't even have a demo bumper.

I'll give them another week or two to fix the issue, then I'm returning the phone and going back to my 3G. Then I'll probably switch to Verizon and get the Droid X.

I'm sure someone already said this but I didn't feel like reading all 2,200 posts on here...
If a case is the way to solve this issue then shouldn't Apple be offering a better deal on their bumper case? $29 is way over-priced. Love me some Steve Jobs, but aside from holding it underwater there shouldn't be a wrong way to hold a cell phone in your hand. Obviously this was a design flaw so stop raping us for $29 for a case that probably costs $2 to make
