<anal> Just a sidenote regarding all of the naming speculation: The Power Mac name is still two words, unlike the PowerBook. </anal>

Does anyone really think SJ would not want to be in a keynote when he announces his new processor? You can tell that he loves his spotlight, why would he ever miss the chance to here all the cheering and screaming his name when he unveils the PM 970?
Also anyone think that this will be streamed during the presentation? or are we going to get the samething we got for the iTunes, and get it streamed afterwards?
I actually kinda preferred the latter.
Ohhhhh yeah....and I bet Carmack has been in on it for a long time, so Doom III would be optimized for the 970 (no doubt it would take advantage of one). If it supported MPs, we would be the envy (for ONCE!) of the PC gaming world..."Wha?!?!? You only get 90 FPS? What's doing your rendering, a Pantyum 4? BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"Originally posted by Vlade

Please Carmack...I wrote a fable about you in HS, don't disappoint me....
BTW, does "/me dreams" = slash me dreams? Because that's about what we can expect after too much D3.....![]()

Should be a good week. New Harry Potter on Saturday, Steve talking on Monday, and ordering a new 970 PM on Tuesday - which is what some sources have claimed. That would fit with what I know about the 970, because it began production not long after the beginning of the year.
Now here's the other question: Will Stevie's address be broadcast live from Moscone? Has his WWDC address ever been broadcasted? If not, then it would be a huge development if it was announced that we could got to the Apple store and watch it.

Great... just great... and I'm going to be in an orphanage in Romania where I'll be lucky to have hot water let alone internet access to find out if the 970 is out or not... I guess I can wait though...but really... what are the odds?!

Pretty much all of Carmacks engines support multiple processors, pc or mac. But yes, if the benchmarks we've seen so far ring true, it would be blistering fast on a dual 970 machine

About a month ago, I remember reading some official statement that Steve Jobs was not going to do a keynote presentation at the show. So this is a change for what was scheduled for WWDC.
I can't remember where i read it for the life of me, it might have been at the apple site, under news. Anyway i'll go check around.

Well - you can DEFINITELY be assured of the new 15" anodised aluminium-encased G4 PowerBook to be on the list of new releases.
What else?!?
1. International distribution for the iTunes Music Store...
2. drop in price for .mac accounts...
3. QuarkExpress 6 FINALLY released...
4. New AppleWorks entitled "iWorks" - better than Office X...
5. iChat FINALLY offers true Video Conferencing facilities...
6. New PPC 970 - but ONLY on High-end Macs...

you may be being a bit too optimistic, or insanely expectant. WWDC is a show for developers. Most of the stuff on your list seem to be for consumers. And to be honest, I could really care less about those things when compared to the potential of the 970 release. PPC 970 + Panther64.

I imagine that he'll talk about Panther and Apples development tools as well as the number of new developers using OS X. I'm not sure if he'll use the WWDC as a forum to launch his new products. Maybe he will, but I think that would be a bit odd.

How about some development tools for the iPod? That'd be something worth announcing at WWDC...
<fantasy>especially for the video iPod with 8" diagonal LCD screen and full organizer capabilities</fantasy>
I'm beginning to think we won't see 970s at WWDC - or ever. IBM won't sell them. The G4 is the end. Apple will move into portable devices, discontinue the Power Mac (two words) and eventually everything but the eMac and iBook will dwindle away.
