If you do not know why some folks on this forum dislike Ive's contributions, you haven't been reading enough posts! 😂😂😂
I've been here a long time and have read a lot of them, I just put it down to this type of cult mentality I suppose. These people forget Ive has styled many products that they love, yet he's an easy scapegoat for the things they dislike.

My my, how the mighty have fallen. One decade designing premiere computers, the next cheap party favors usually purchased for $3 at Party City.

I think I get why you'd think that, as without the necessary context this does seem to be an object of little value.

The context you may be missing is the whole 'Red Nose Day' activities & TV event in aid of the Comic Relief charity. It's been a pretty prominent part of UK culture for the last few decades.

I'm kind of surprised that Jony Ive decided to keep the nose port.

It looks uncomfortable. Pinching style? Have to adjust breathing to speak.

The other foam you could just place on your nose.
I don’t think it’s meant as an everyday wear - to work or church for example. It’s only to be worn for comedic effect on the night of the telethon 😂

This thing has been around for ages. He just allocated it for a nose. Incredible renders.

I don't think there was any need for this product.
An Apple Magic Mouse or a 1st generation Apple Pencil in their charging states are way more comical.
