Wouldn't it be cool if the screen was separate from the computer, so the screen could be optimized to be adjustable screen with speakers in the chin? Then we could get the computer now, and use it with the TV as a monitor until they sell a screen that isn't junky.
You can buy a Mac mini if you want your computer and monitor separate. If you think the 4.5K screen is junky, well good luck finding a better one.

If they made the iMac like the iPad Pro with the edge to edge screen, the hardware in the back and not the bloody chin which just looks hideous it could have been a stunning looking computer while still being super thin.

Seriously Apple, how hard would it have been to take the iPad pro design and mount that on a stand, it's mostly the same hardware.
Another victim of Apple's false advertising. It's missing some hardware, notably a battery, and a touchscreen. Yes, 24" screen uses more battery than 16" screen, but it should be possible to run the iMac off a battery like an iPad.

Apple should make a new screen to use with the Mini. That 4.5K screen of the iMac is probably fine for me but I haven't seen it in person like jefhai, who said screen was junky. My point was that it'd be better if they were separated, instead of jammed together, so we can make our purchase decisions separately.

Simply purchase a Mac mini and a screen from another manufacturer. Problem solved.

As an aside, I saw the lineup of the new M1 iMacs, in all colors, last week at a nearby Apple Store. Both the display and overall design were stunning. If I were in the market for an entry level Mac I would have purchased one on the spot.

I don’t watch Rene and a quick check shows he only has 259K subs so far. MKBHD has 14.1M. Dunno why that difference. But to me, MKBHD, Jonathan and Dave2D all meets the criteria you mentioned here. Hashtag thing is just mere manipulation of YouTube algorithm. Being 14.1M sub, MKBHD kinda have to do this. It’s just how YouTube works. Either way, I like their review and they are not as one sided as “everythingapplepro” or some other random reviewers.
I don’t recall MKBHD doing hashtag titles to be honest. I could be wrong.

the amount of subscribers doesn’t concern me - it’s like a popularity contest in middle school people follow what is most popular and afraid to go their own path. I never followed cliques and didn’t become popular but when cliques were a thing growing up I was able to move freely between all never shined by none. Guess that just stuck with me. Just remember YouTube is mostly consumed by youth as is the majority of the internet
have a look at a few of Rene’s videos you’d be surprised about his view pints listing of resources etc.

oh yeah I forgot about fellow torontonian Dave2D he’s good but mostly PC and Android focused - mostly gaming laptops and mice for the most part.

the others, not mentioned (as is everythingapplepro) tends to all follow the same cookie cutter pattern.

mine thing I’ve noticed amongst them all is what musicians or singers typically do now - collaborate. Except it’s not just doing videos together it seems they all chat first and create the same sort of template and talking points from beginning to end and it’s really getting lame. I get that the smaller guys need to do this to survive like artists crest a brand for cologne, clothing line, heck an App or star in a video game. There is barely much money to be made in music since streaming is the ah to go. Price very few singers or even bands have concerts anymore (even pre pandemic) on a global scale?! Music industry isn’t paying for concerts and travel like they used to unless your major star say Ariana etc - no I don’t listen to her but teen and very young adult girls loose their crap over her and talk like crazy.

5GHZ on the Intel 11th Generation CPU!
Gotta LOVE it!
SEE.
INTEL was never OUT.

LOL. It can “hit” 5GHz, so not sustained. And it can ”hit 5GHz on a single core,” so the other cores either need to shut off or run at very low speed while that’s happening. And, of course, high frequency is the worst way to achieve high performance, because power/heat = C x frequency x voltage squared.

Another ******, hot, CPU from Intel that wins a marketing point with no advantage in actual use.

Awwwww, snap... I guess we have a quarrel going on :p I hope you know that you can't defragment your SCSI hard disk drive if you only have a Tesla or a BMW.

Also, I'm not against the design of the 24" M1 iMac. I hope that was understood too :D

I see that we have a great deal of people willing to take Tim Cook's hand in marriage. It's fine if people are gay. It seems that they too have rights now. Good on them.
edit.. let me say that I'll let my comments stay here, but I'll also let you know that I'm aware that my type humor doesn't stand up against the Internet People.
IRL I'm most negative, but positive too; when I go to sleep. Then in the mornings/late afternoon it begins again. I use sarcasm more than I should - the comments here is a testament to that fact.
So, do you often wake up feeling like there's a bag of cats inside your head? Yeah, you too?
People have been saying that for 10 years. And yet mac is getting more attention than ever.
Mac was getting NOTHING for a long time. Come on, you know it's true. Which was why I didn't buy. Seriously, soldered-on memory in denominations of 8 GB or 16 GB, and in an OS and architecture where we all KNEW they needed to have more memory? And the heat, and the breaking hinges, and suddenly-dying motherboards? And then, as if to say we should kneel and genuflect at the great Altar of Apple, they come out with the trash-can machine, also mostly not upgradable?

No no, it was all crap in those days, and it had nothing to do with designs. You know it and I know it. That said, I'm glad things are turning around, because now I can actually seriously consider getting a Mac this year.

I see lots of opportunity now with Apple silicone and a whole new architecture that makes effective use of efficiency cores AND performance cores. It's about damned time!

As you well aware, this is the internet we have right now. Gone the 1980/1990 dedication, polish and determination. I’m not saying there is no junk in that period, there are plenty, but there are also great people from that era creates nice products that everyone from that era would remember.

I like MKBHD and Dave2D mostly because of their review style that is as objective as they possibly can (sponsorship and bs will have a huge impact). Everythingapplepro is much more one sided, which I hate with passion. I haven’t watched too many Rene video but the one I watch does not show too much style differences between him and MKBHD/Dave2D. I think I just need to watch more.

I’d say the golden age of establishing a billion dollar tech business was in 1970-1990, where tech power was so primitive, every single improvement could be a nice candidate for intensive marketing. Commodore 64 having 64K of ram for home computer was such an example I remembered, also VIC-20. As time goes on, new companies wanting to enter the existing field would either have groundbreaking new inventions or improvements to be able to enter on its own. Music industry has become just like that, where well established celebrities earning billions in a whimper while new singers struggle to get any attraction without TV shows or being discovered by someone. I feel pretty sad about it cause suppression from established (be it individual, corporation, or even a small business) greatly hinders the evolution and changing of our society, but they just have the resources and tools to manipulate everything in their favour.

I see you are not a big fan of copy-pasted review style, but for young content creators, that’s prolly one of their easiest ways to gain quick traction, set foot, and move forward with his/her own style. Sure, review style evolution could become a bit of the stalemate situation, but I personally would give them a bit more time, come back and see if anything has changed.

Sorry for this random rambling.

Where, exactly, did Apple advertise that the iMac is an iPad with a screen?
On TV during the NBA games, Apple shows the iMacs spinning around, displaying a screen saver on the screen and being unplugged at the same time. It's as if they were showing off the lack of power cord plugged in to the back.

That’s silly. It would be false advertising if the imacs couldn’t be spun around, or if the power cords could not be removed. Anything else is lack of basic comprehension skills.

They are referring to iMac's display showing an image as if it had power despite not being plugged in. Kind of a hilarious nitpick, but technically correct.

Actually I was thinking the iphone was released 10 years ago...I am getting old.
Kudos to you for being able to admit you got something wrong. It happens to all of us.

Getting something wrong is a human trait.

Doubling down and just repeating what you first thought to be true, when you're shown to be wrong, is a douchebag trait.

I like Jony, don’t care what the haters say. The problem was that he had too much control and pushed form over function too far. Apple is coming back into balance, and if they keep using him like this, then I think that’s fantastic. Hope he designs the 32” 6K iMac Pro!

After this past year and a bit, I am surprised I can still even think a complete thought. BRUTAL!
