So you believe that the 5th gen will be discounted and the 6th gen ipod touch is on its way out and will come out on the 14th of July
The Touch 5 will be discontinued by this fall (all A5 devices) and I don't expect a Touch 6 till this fall.
Not discounted, discontinued. I can totally see Phil Schiller making a press release on July 14 saying: "Now all our iOS devices contain a 64-bit architecture."
So you really believe that this is going to happen. I know that the colors are going to happen but do you really really believe that the iPod touch is going to be updated
Yes, I believe that the iPod touch will get an A7 chip with 1GB of RAM. The A5 chip is more than 4 years old at this point. They have to update it to the A7 chip and not leave it at an A5 or too many people will be extremely upset.
Crossing my fingers for a 6th Gen Touch. I really enjoy using my 5th Gen as my all purposes device, and would love something to upgrade to in the future when I'm seeking something else.
So just making sure here its is guaranteed that apple is releasing a 6th gen iPod touch just in the same body style. Also would it come in a gold color like the iphone 5s and 6

I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. It's pretty much guaranteed that new iPods are coming out next week on the 14th. The images from iTunes 12.2 are too specific, and one of them happens to be a gold iPod touch (although it's more of a light beige color). The colors also match the beats headphones, so I think that can't be a coincidence. Like I've said before, the 5th generation iPod touch is like an iPad Mini 1 in specs, and I expect the iPod touch 6th generation to be like an iPad Mini 2 in specs.
The birthday of my son is in 4 weeks and I think I will buy him an Ipod, so I'm glad there will be a new model next week.

What makes yo all so sure that a new model will be released on July 14th? Is this just a random date that you pulled from wherever, or is it actually based on facts?

I know this is not 100% sure. If it's only the 5th gen with new colors I'll just buy him something else or give him the money so he could wait until the launch of the 6th gen.
About my question about the delay of the release in store, I finally ask at the girl at Bestbuy and she said it took 2-3 months for them to receive the gold Mac, so I think it's best I buy it online IF the new Ipod is released next week so my son could have it for his birthday.
I try the ipod earlier today at the store and the screen seems small compare to the Ipad mini. Can we still play with iMovie, GarageBand and other apps easily?

I think the only people that can guarantee it is Apple itself, but if I had to bet money on it, I would.
So you think it is going to happen Andres Cantu i mean the leaked images show the ipod touch in a darker blue but everything looks the same as the 5th gen. Why do you think they have been delaying in updating it also do you think its going to be a color upgrade or a hardware refresh because every ipod in that leaked image looks like the current generation. Please let me know because im worried that there not going to update the hardware in the iPod touch. Please write back. Thanks

Anyway, yes, I do think there will be a refresh. You can see my first post in the thread explaining what I think each iPod will have. Remember, just because the iPod touch will look the same doesn't mean it won't be updated internally. Remember the iPod touch 3rd generation?
I have no clue why they waited until now for a potential refresh when the holidays last year would have made much more sense. I can only speculate that the iPad Mini 1 still being sold at that time, the Beats and Apple music transition, and potential buyers for the 5th generation iPod touch with a back camera standard were potential reasons for why they held back.
Maybe if apple is being really kind, it may have an A8? Will buy even if it has a A7, not for me but for another family member.

John Lewis essentially out of stock in the UK. Low/no stock is usually a sign that a refresh (or the end of a product line) is imminent. The new iTunes pics appear to point to some form of update.

I can't imagine the iPod touch just getting new colors. It's been 3 friggin years since the last update. To just get new colors makes no sense. It'd have to get some internal changes as well. Personally I was hoping for a 4.7 & 5.5" iPod touch with a much better camera. Apple could even rebrand them as iPad nanos. Market them not as just music players, but cameras for photogs, gaming machines and websirfing machines. Much like the ipads. Or an iPhone alternative. Not everyone wants to buy an expensive iPhone on contract...or an even more expensive off contract one just for the camera or web surfing. I'd love to have a new 4.7" or 5.5" iPod touch with a kickass camera for travel photography.
