I think that there will be "new" iPods coming on July 14. Here's what I THINK they will be (just guesses):
1. The iPod shuffle will still be at 4th generation. Perhaps it will have double the storage, but the price should stay the same.
2. The iPod Nano will still be at 7th generation. It might have a slightly lower price. Even though it should have had a redesigned OS a-la-iOS 7, it will not (based on the pictures).
3. The iPod touch will now be at 6th generation. It will be similar to the transition from the 2nd to 3rd generation (like an S-upgrade). This will mean upgraded internals, but not externals. There will be no more iPod touch loop (based on the picture), probably because Apple didn't want to produce new ones in new colors (and probably because only a small portion of people use it). As far as specs, it will have an A7-chip with 1GB of RAM (it will be introduced in July so that they can say it's only one generation behind current hardware, even if for only two months). It will have the same 5MP rear-facing camera (again, based on the picture), and it might have the slightly improved front-facing camera from the iPhone 5s.
Just like the iPod touch 5th generation is like an iPad Mini 1 in pretty much all specs, I expect the iPod touch 6th generation to be like an iPad Mini 2 in pretty much all specs. This means Apple will save the true-tone flash, improved cameras, Touch ID, Apple Pay, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, etc. for the 7th generation (assuming this upcoming one sells well enough for them to want to produce it). My only questions is: why didn't they introduce these iPods in September 2014 to take advantage of the holidays?
