I will definitely be upgrading sooner than I thought. I'm at the point now where I want to consolidate everything I have into one device, and it's going to be this new Touch. I have a mirrorless camera that I plan on replacing with the iSight as my desires have changed. I'm thinking of going 64 GB to store some DVD rips on it as well, along with my music - leaving a decent amount of space for photo/videos just until I can get them transferred off of the device. My contacts are all within the Apple ecosystem and I am often on WiFi so all I really need is iMessage. It will be all-purposes.

That is what my current 5G is doing but I would mind the upgraded specs of course including the camera - as my photography desires shift it will be nice to have something more capable built in. I imagine iOS 9 will be sluggish on the 5G so I will hopefully swap within the next few months and just keep the 5G as a backup device.

That's great, I've been reading about many people doing the same thing: using the new iPod touch as their primary camera. It's a fantastic all-purpose device :)

Apart from the "main" spec differences such as the processor/ram/etc, I think the camera is the best "secondary" upgrade. In theory anyway - hopefully improvement in image quality in the real world supports this. It won't hold too much of a candle to the mirrorless camera I have but like I said - things change. I want something that is capable but isn't focused on, no pun intended.

I really like the iOS camera app, too. I find its layout, features, filters and adjustments to be quite useful.

I agree. You can't beat the portability of this device and its easy of use.

I love the iPod touch as it gets more use than my iPhone. Music, video, games, camera and I don't kill my iPhone battery. More importantly if I were to break it I will not be nearly as upset.
