Yes, I believe that the iPod touch will get an A7 chip with 1GB of RAM. The A5 chip is more than 4 years old at this point. They have to update it to the A7 chip and not leave it at an A5 or too many people will be extremely upset.
What I think is that if a new iPhone (6S/7) is going to be introduced this September, it makes more sense to introduce a new iPod Touch with an A8 processor instead of an A7, because that way, it will still ultimately be one revision behind the newest and greatest (once the A9 is released), but come with craptons of power compared to where the iPod Touch is now, thus making it a much more lucrative consumer device, bring up sales, and finally allow them to ditch 32-bit computing entirely.Quoting so we can hold you to that. Also hoping you're right but not holding my breath.

I thought that as well, but then we got those iPod images in iTunes. What I think is that if a new iPhone (6S/7) is going to be introduced this September, it makes more sense to introduce a new iPod Touch with an A8 processor instead of an A7, because that way, it will still ultimately be one revision behind the newest and greatest (once the A9 is released), but come with craptons of power compared to where the iPod Touch is now, thus making it a much more lucrative consumer device, bring up sales, and finally allow them to ditch 32-bit computing entirely.
There certainly is. Since the iPad Mini 2 was the first iPad Mini with 128GB of maximum storage, and this iPod touch is looking to be like an iPad Mini 2 in specs, then I would say that there's a chance for a 128GB iPod touch. The only doubts I have are about the other capacities that would be offered and their pricing.Oooh, is there any hope that a new iPod Touch will be available with the same capacity as the old Classic?
My 160GB Classic is currently full, and with Apple discontinuing it I now have no replacement iPod for it that will take all my music. This is annoying, after Apple effectively persuaded me to 'go iPod' and move my CD collection up into the loft.
Crossing my fingers for a 6th Gen Touch. I really enjoy using my 5th Gen as my all purposes device, and would love something to upgrade to in the future when I'm seeking something else.

Not discounted, discontinued. I can totally see Phil Schiller making a press release on July 14 saying: "Now all our iOS devices contain a 64-bit architecture."
Oh, good point! I had forgotten about the iPhone 5c! I guess he'll have to wait until September to use that lineWhat about the iPhone 5c? It's still 32 bit. He couldn't say that until they replace the 5c with the 5s in the low end spot

I know, they're pulling another iPad Mini 3 (but this time, opposite). No Touch ID...![]()

We'll have to wait until the 7th generation (if any) for a shrunken down iPad Mini 4 (possibly).Yeah you said that the Touch 6 would be a shrunken down Mini 2, and I was hoping for another shrunken down Mini 3.

What, Touch ID? No, the new touch won't have it.They updated it?
