iPod touch July 14th ipods

You're 100% right about that, thought it's not like I said yesterday that they wouldn't be released until September, which many people did. And still sticking to an A7!

Its going to be an A8 or A7... I'm not decided. I feel that they might go with an A8 so they can keep it forever, like they have done with the 5th gen... It just gives them more options.

It's clear that these iPods were meant to be released yesterday. I wonder if they recently changed their minds and decided to wait one extra day due to the Amazon Prime Day and Walmart rollbacks? Perhaps they want to take advantage of the fact that many people that will be online shopping today?

I was wrong about the A7 (anyone feel free to say I told you so :p). I'm actually glad I was wrong, but I can't believe Apple was generous enough to include the A8 (economies of scale along with the Apple TV 4, anyone?). I was, however, mostly right about the capacities and pricing (even though I'll admit that was only a pure guess, as I had mentioned).

I was also wrong about the rear-camera. It seems to be like the one from the iPad Air 2. They could have done away with the protruding ring, however (since both devices share the same thickness). I was also partially wrong about the FaceTime camera. It's actually the one from the iPhone 6, not the iPhone 5s, since it has an f/2.2 aperture.

A big surprise was the Bluetooth 4.1. Did anyone notice that?

I don't know, however, where they got the 10x increase in graphics performance. The A6 was 2x over the A5, the A7 was 2x over the A6, and the A8 was 1.5x over the A7, so it should be 6x. The CPU performance should also be 5x, not 6x (2x, 2x, 1.25x).

Finally, battery life seems to be the same (40 hours of audio, 8 hours of video). I wonder where the A8's efficiency over the A7 went?

Andres CantuDo you know when the iPod touch becomes available in stores like Walmart or best buy because it seams to be a really nice upgrade from the previous generation

It definitely is a really nice upgrade from the previous generation. I was not expecting to see the best A-chip (for small devices) and the best FaceTime camera available as of now on it, and I also did not expect the iPad Air 2's rear-facing camera.

I wish I knew exactly when those retailers will get it, as it is definitely worth $199 for 16GB (especially when you consider that only yesterday the old model with a three-generation-old A-chip was the same price). I would say that either this weekend or sometime next week they will be available. Which one do you plan on buying?

Andres Cantu I plan on buying a 32gb in gold or blue.my current 5th gen is a slate 32gb which is still nice but the current generation is alot nicer and more faster than the previous version

You can't go wrong on the color. All of them are gorgeous! (Although I really like that blue color)

What I like about this generation is that there is four different storage capacities, each priced fairly. They did not pull an iPhone 6/6+ and eliminate the 32GB model.

I'm probably getting the silver since it's a replacement for my missing 5th gen. I'm very happy with the offering and I'm hoping to get it in a couple weeks. Hopefully by that time, it will be in stock in the store.

Well I was happy to be wrong, they did arrive, just a day late strangely.

I can't see them being a great success, but I'm happy in that at least the Touch will now be around and will be supported for as long as the iPhone 6 is. So we should get another three years out of it. It's good to know that if my Touch 5 dies, I can but another, newer device for quite a while.

I would have bought one on release day, IF only they had been 4.7" or 5.5"....

While I have a 6 Plus I don't bring it to the gym. This little beauty is perfect, small and neglible weight. Definitely looking forward to bringing it to the gym daily, did I say it is a beauty?

The folks at the Apple Store knew I'd be there this morning to get one and I officially christened their store launch for one. :)

Well I have a week to decide. I'm going to get the 128 GB but I can't decide whether to get the pink or gold. I really like the gold but the pink looks lush.

Found this really good first review, shows how much faster it is then the iPod Touch 5th gen:

Thanks for posting this review.

I was surprised to learn that the earPods that Apple provided are basic ones without mic or inline remote. I find it strange that Apple left them out as I've found that having a remote greatly improves usability (for me anyway). Did the 5th gen come with the deluxe earPods or was it these basic ones? I guess since a lot of people reportedly use third-party headphones Apple probably feels that they can save a few dollars by not providing better earPods.

Not that the exclusion matters for my upcoming purchase as I already have a pair of the deluxe earPods with inline remote, although it would have been nice to have a spare pair.

The 5th generation also included only the basic ones.

Damn I was right, will wait for reviews, but will most likely order soon. Faster then the iPad Mini, wow. A huge upgrade and a upgrade that people deserve

I know, right? If you ignore Touch-ID, Apple Pay, and iBeacon micro-location, the iPod touch has: a better SOC, better cameras, better Wi-Fi, better Bluetooth, and of course, a full color gamut. All at HALF the price!
