I'm guessing this is bad news for Apple. It would be a lot quicker to reject claims than to accept them and determine damages.

I think a victory for samsung would be good for competition. I wouldn't mind seeing Apple go into overdrive!

Or good news. All it means is they didn't spend a lot of time on the individual devices. They must have decided them in one go.

Personally, I doubt it went that well for Apple. Determining damages can't be a cut and dry sort of thing. Unless things lined up neatly, there's just too much to go over.

I imagine they went in favor with Samsung, or were arguing so badly with no progress that they realized they should just declare themselves a hung jury and get it over with.

Waiting for the results of the presidential election will at least 100 times worse.

How come you're nervous lol? Do you work for these companies?

Lol.No. It's just either way it feels like there won't be true competition. I just hate when companies can't fight things on the battlefield and have to litigate instead. I love Samsung. I love Apple. I don't want patents messing with the phones and products I love.

The judge wouldn't let them hang so quickly. She would tell them to keep deliberating.

Is it possible for a tie or it has to be win or lose decision?

There are many individual counts, claims and counterclaims. It could be a unilateral verdict, a mixed verdict, or no verdict at all (hung jury).

I think they both got devices banned.

Both Apple and Samsung had several legacy devices banned. Not their current models though.

It probably doesn't mean anything more than a group of people who want their lives back on a Friday evening.

So they worked hard and came to a conclusion they all agreed on.

If it were a Tuesday, this would mean something else, but a Friday? Doesn't mean a thing.

...that is to say, we can't read into any of it.

Just my gut feeling, but I feel like this is good news for Apple. I think it was more likely that at least a few would strongly think Samsung copied, so they would drag out the process. I find it hard to believe that all 9 would issue a completely anti-Apple verdict so quickly. We'll find out soon enough.

Anyways, hurry the F up Koh!

Well, Judge Koh said that since they couldn't work out their own problems then it won't be favorable for either. Who knows. I think both companies are gonna stop litigating after this.

Yep, after all the nonsense she had to go through for this she certainly wouldn't let them off the hook in a few days time.

From The Verge:

Hearing back this soon likely means things went very well — or very poorly — for Apple

It's either good or bad for Apple. Are there any other possibilites?
