One thing we can all agree on, no matter what the "verdict" is, both sides will appeal in some form or fashion.

This will never "end".

I think a victory for samsung would be good for competition. I wouldn't mind seeing Apple go into overdrive!

Yep, I would love to see Apple actually make a phone as good as the flagship android phones. Rather than say " our marketshare is slipping because they made better phones waaaaaa! "

Given that some of Samsung's patents are FRAND, there isn't much dispute that Apple will need to pay something. What's at issue is whether Apple will get anything in return.

The verge has a liveblog

"One of Apple's legal team just showed up in a polo shirt. Looks like we're not the only ones surprised to be here today."

"I saw Samsung's request for 30 minutes to review the verdict form... I think that makes sense."

God... damnit.

I think there are about 700 questions so I can not imagine in will be 700-0.

The fact that the jury has decided so quickly makes me think that it will be this way. It seems to me to have thing wrapped up this quickly they have probably decided completely in favor of one side or they other.

Is it possible for a tie or it has to be win or lose outcome?

If jury could not come to a unanimous decision, there would be a hung jury. That is basically a tie, and they can redo the case from scratch. Effectively, it would be a win for Samsung. However, this apparently didn't happen as per the title of the article.

If there are multiple claims, the jury could also split the decision by deciding for apple for some claims and against samsung for other claims. I have no idea how many claims there are, but it sounds like there is just one major one.

tl;dr: tie is unlikely. Probably a zero sum, apple or samsung victory situation here.

EDIT: it's been brought to my attention that there are multiple claims. Therefore, it is totally possible that Samsung won some and apple won others, so a "tie" is certainly possible. It is also possible that apple won some important claims, so they'll claim victory. I haven't followed the case very closely, so I'm not really sure.

Either way is a bad result. This is capitalism.

100% agreed... be you an Apple fan, or a Samsung fan, things will forever change.

Enjoy the future of stymied innovation and $1000 dollar cell phones.

is there any TV coverage on reading of the verdict?

Ever wonder why you see so many pictures of the inside of the courtroom via a drawing? Yeah... no live coverage. lol. Maybe a nice painting of Apple's or Samsung's lawyers jaws dropping.
