It's a desk Widget or Charm or whatever idiotic name MS is calling them these days, that can be placed anywhere on the screen, not a dock. ;)

Apple didn't invent the dock either.

Patented.

Wow... they ripped a wallpaper.

If legitimate, it was probably a mock up by an ad firm. I have a hard time believing HTC would be so cavalier as to allow it into final ads, but.....

Actually, it's a CoM story with no actual source. It could be a photoshop job for all we know, there has been no announcement from HTC on such a product, much less press material that actually uses that wallpaper (which is the iPad wallpaper).

So basically, at this point, the people posting it are simply posting FUD.

Actually, there has been growing speculation over the last few months that HTC is working on one or two new Android tablets with one likely to be called the Vertex. Benchmarks popped up online last month (see Engadget). However, I can see how, with the incredible popularity of the iPad, that might be missed.

sadly, I think we have come to expect those sort of posts from them

You left out Boy Genius Report, Yahoo, HTCpedia, Android Authority, etc, etc, etc.

UPDATE: appears now ZDNet is linking to the possible leak and impending HTC Android tablet(s).

I know right, it's pathetic. Then again there is not much to expect from Apple's competitors who continue to be "flummoxed" by the makers of the best laptops, desktops, and mobile devices on the market. :apple:

I'll assume this is sarcasm since best is subjective. Best is what meets the needs of the individual consumer and the consumer enjoys using.

Wait. How does Apple have a patent on a dock? My BBs had docks before the iPhone was out.

The suspense is killing me!

Uh oh...better not disagree or you might end up on the Caped Crusader's infamous "Ignore List."

*Waiting for Robin to swoop in*

So I guess all those pictures of the iPhone 5 from last year must be true since it was rumored that Apple was working on a new iPhone... oh wait.

Again, your pictures have no source, especially the wallpaper one. Because it is rumored HTC is doing a tablet does not mean people on the Internet can't just have some fun and photoshop something to look like an iMac with an iPad wallpaper, as a sort of joke on the whole "copying" thing.

The CoM story is a FUD piece until there's actual evidence that that is the HTC device.

You do understand that don't you ? Otherwise, you'd have to be a very unreasonable person.

Yes, the dock concept is old. Even green screen terminal UIs often had a bottom line with apps or common menu items listed.

That patent is for a dock where each icon magnifies as you move the cursor over it, and the other icons make room for that bigger icon.

Now KDarling - you aren't suggesting that people actually read and try and understand a patent now, are you? Isn't it just easier to read a headline or paraphrase bad information from another post?

Samsung says thank you Apple.
We'll have your payment subsidized in full with the Galaxy S III sales just in the last week. :D

Galaxy S III Sales Spike After Patent Verdict
Sales of Samsung’s Galaxy S III smartphone have increased following Apple’s legal victory over the South Korean manufacturer in a patent infringement case.

Customers appear to have rushed out to buy the Galaxy S III, with some stores running out of stock of the smartphone, according to a report from Global Equities Research.

According to a survey of 16 retailers conducted by Trip Chowdhry, the managing director for equity research at Global Equities, two Costco stores were sold out of Galaxy S III phones that run on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks, another sold out all its AT&T models and two out of three Sprint stores were sold out.

Three Verizon stores still had the smartphone, Chowdhry said, but the retailers reported that the Samsung device had been outselling the iPhone during the month.

All five AT&T stores polled said they saw "significant" sales of Samsung’s device in the first few days after the verdict.

Apple looses against Samsung in Japan.

it should be noted that outside USA, Apple had very little success.

Interesting isn't it? The country where Apple is from and the city where the trial takes place is Apple's hometown where they pay nice tax dollars.... they win. But everywhere else... people have been smart enough not to let their ridiculous patents on rounded corners or a grid of icons go through.

Can't believe this company has spawned the kind of fanboys it has today, absolutely disgusting.

it's a pretty bad photoshop job, the hand is blurred around the edges that are over the screen, the reflections/glare on the bezel don't match the screen

Your image has a few errors in it. For one thing, the Sony Ericsson "icon" interface is much older than those models. My T610 had it. Next, the F700, while announced February 2007, did not ship until much later that year, after the iPhone, so that part is wrong as well (though it's quite doubtful that Samsung designed the phone in less than a month to be ready to announce it in Feb 2007 after seeing the iPhone in Jan 2007... that much is also ridiculous).

We'd have to check the patents, but the Neonode slide to unlock is not the same as Apple's. Apple's patent contains claims that make it so the slide has to slide along a visible, defined path, whereas the Neonode patent is a free slide.

The Japan case was about utility patents, not design patents though. You're thinking of the Dutch and UK cases.

And for tablets, the recent US verdict. The Jury did find that Samsung had not infringed Apple's rectangle with rounded corners patent for tablets (D'889) with the Galaxy Tab. Something quite a few people try to ignore it seems. Apple obtained an injunction on the Tab based on this claim and now Samsung get to lift the injunction and collect Apple's bond money.

"Unreasonable" for reporting a rumor? You do realize where you hang out all day?

Yep.

Context. You were accusing HTC of copying Apple based on an unconfirmed rumor. That is FUD. It has nothing to do with me hanging out on Macrumors. Macrumors does not post FUD piece, it doesn't pretend its rumors are facts and doesn't accuse anyone based on them.

Of course, you being a reasonable person also know that and wouldn't pretend your post wasn't out of line and premature...
