And who could ever forget these words by Forbes 2012 Worst CEO.

"[The iPhone] doesn't appeal to business customers because it doesn't have a keyboard. Which makes it not a very good email machine." (Steve Ballmer - January 2007)

Funny. I don't see a physical keyboard on the NokiaSoft Lumia 900. ;)

I think some of the short minded Apple full time Apple detractors that troll here on a regular have totally forgotten that the iPhone was not regarded obvious at all when it first dropped.

In actuality it was derided and mocked and "destined to be a failure."

Yet now, it's all so obvious.

Exactly! Similarly to politicians relying on the public's longterm memory being bad when they try to get away with contradicting themselves (aka 'flip-flopping') on an issue, plenty of Apple's competitors rely on people forgetting what smartphones were like prior to the iPhone.

Pinch-to-zoom, double tap to zoom, etc, have become commonplace in the industry due to copycat Android OEMs and Google having stampeded to snatch up the features Apple mastered. Prior, nobody had these. Again, it was only obvious after Apple made it so.

I'm sorry...I do NOT mean to be a troll.

However...this inane comment that iOS is better than Android is baseless.
I made the mistake of buying the iPhone 4s and was SOOOOOO disappointed!!!

To me (and mind you...I am NOT trolling here!), the iPhone is a phone built with kids in mind (22 and under) and adults who have no idea what a functional smartphone should act like....and, last, but definitely not least...it's a phone that, more often than not, is bought as a prestige item.
It's like those people who can't afford a BMW X4 and buy it to impress their neighbors rather than functionality.

I must admit...had Palm had the capital to invest in their product before HP took it over and destroyed the most promising OS to come along in years, I would NOT be defending Android. Android doesn't even come in a close second.
But, be that as it may....iOS comes in even further than that!!

And, let's be frank, shall we? Who the hell builds a phone made completely out of glass??? I dropped mine from a front door step (6"-8" max!!!) and it completely shattered my phone screen....AND I had the $100 protective case with extended battery!!
That's just shoddy workmanship. I paid for a replacement because insurance did not cover that kind of damage...and it happened again! I thought the first time was a fluke...just hit the right spot at the wrong time

And yet....2 completely different accidents from extremely low heights?? C'mon??!!!
Not to mention that the only thing going for the Apple iPhone is that it has, by far, the best virtual keyboard on the market!! Other than that, I cannot see why everyone is going crazy over this company and have to say that the phone was made with adults in mind who have no idea how to utilize a smartphone whatsoever!!! My Palm Treo 650 was a better phone than the iPhone...at least that phone could use Adobe Flash!!

And now my Galaxy s3 totally blows away any competiton (for at least another 3 months, I'm guessing!! Lol.....but it won't be dethroned by the likes of an iPhone 5. More likely another Android product.).

And, is anyone truly happy with the fact that Apple has the final say-so as to what you can put on your phone?? I know I wasn't!!

Anyway...my two cents for the dude who had the temerity to say iOS blows away Android. Just not true, my friend...and this comes from a phone geek...a person who, for the last decade or so, has been devoted to smartphones and was so excited to see the iPhone come out....and then thoroughly disappointed!!

Soooo....last time I comment on this thread. Just was trying to get some insight on the lawsuit between Samsung and Apple and just HAD to form a rebuttal of sorts against such an uneducated comment!!

Anyway...thanks for listening...or reading as the case may be...and for those of you who enjoy your iPhones...God be with you. It's rare to find something that you truly enjoy in this life!!

God Bless!!

Couch :D

OK, I'll bite. Enlighten us as to what a functional smartphone should act like? Flash? Really? I am not 22 and under, did not buy my iPhone as a "prestige" item, and thoroughly enjoy it and use like a "smartphone" should be used. And it works well.

And yes, I am truly happy that Apple has the final say as to what is available on my phone. There's nothing I need that I cant get, and it offers the security of knowing that it'll pretty much be free of malware, and work pretty well.

Also, You must have some pretty bad luck or somewhat clumsy, but I haven't had any issues with the reliability of my phones. And, as I've posted on another forum, I have a 5 year old who has my old 3gs for about a year now, and he abuses it... and it's working flawlessly.

Nuke it from orbit... it's the only way to be sure.

But seriously.. this game is far from over.
This was only the first trial in a lowly district court.
The appellate courts have the power to toss all of it.

I know, I wish it were over though :(

We're about to get 500+ posts raving about the wonderful patent system we have, "serves Samsung right," "now sue the rest of them Apple", "did Google die", etc.

Or, we're about to get 500+ posts finding huge fault with the "outdated, antiquated" patent system we have, "Apple should appeal," "Apple should immediately cut all business relations with all Samsung units," etc.
thread tl/dr
1000+ posts later, looks like you were probably right in both paragraphs.

Give it up, bro. The court ruled, game over for Samsung. :p

Q. Was Friday's verdict final?

A. No.
Samsung is challenging it. First, Samsung will first ask the trial judge to toss the verdict. Then it will appeal to a court in Washington that specializes in patent appeals. Samsung has vowed to take the fight all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, if necessary.:D

Also keep in perspective how much 1 billion means to Samsung.
"The $1 billion in damages represents 1.5 percent of Samsung Electronics Co.'s annual revenue." :D

Although the ruling applies only to Samsung, it will have an indirect effect on all makers of Android devices. Apple could go after them with arguments similar to the ones used against Samsung. But the ruling Friday is not precedential, meaning that other courts could reach completely different decisions.

That comes in at 33:52 of the Macworld 2007 Keynote! Love it! Wish Steve were here... it would be so great to see him and his "glow" come the mid-Sep iPhone 5 event!

Agreed! I could close my eyes and almost see Steve beaming with pride as much as he did when he introduced the world to the iPhone. This was for you Steve, thanks for everything.

So Samsung changed Samsung to look more like iPhone? That's what I am seeing. What with the colorful icons, the bar of icons down at the bottom, the bezel, etc...

The absolutely amazing argument coming from a Samsung lawyer is that the ruling is unfair because (paraphrased) it deprives all those Samsung customers of Apple inspired and created innovations. This is an appeal to emotion, while overlooking the purpose of patent law. I'm thrilled by the outcome so far. :D

Steve jobs indicated he'd go thermonuclear on Android for theft. He has to be laughing from the other side. :)

So your thrilled because old models are banned and only in the USA ? :) get a grip

My understanding is that Apple has ongoing lawsuits in many countries. It represents removing technology from current Samsung products, stolen from Apple in violation of international patent law. It means Android products could be removed from store shelves and/or technology that Apple users enjoy as part and parcel of the Apple tech edge could be removed from Android products maintaining a distinction that Apple products deserve by virtue of creating them and protecting them under patent law. It means besides the fine, that competing products might have to pay royalties to Apple raising the cost of Android devices.

What's not to be thrilled about, lol? All the poor Android users who will no longer be able of scroll with a swipe? You might need to get a grip. :)

I don't know why all of the talk is centered around "old" Samsung models. The Galaxy S II is one of the models that's likely to be banned and it's still for sale in the US and just hit a couple of smaller carriers a few months ago.

The same may be true for other Samsung models.

Who the hell is going to buy a GSII? You'll get no support next year.

I SWEARS IT!

Lol again get a grip, im not in the states so if i wish to jump to android anynday i can do with no problem also people in other countrys or have you see any luck with apple trying to screw around in other country ? I dont think so, when motorola starts to bitch slap apple is the one that going to be paying a lot of royalties.

Im not interested in the old **** about what is best or who stole ideas, in the end they all have and likemi say in another thread if apple is concern to the point of want the phones banned then i guess samsung made a really good job at making the product better ;)

Gadget reseller Gazelle.com has seen a 50% increase in folks trading in their Samsung phones over the last 3 days, resulting in a 10% price drop in what Gazelle is offering for the used devices:

“Consumers seem to be jumping ship,” says Anthony Scarsella, chief gadget officer at Gazelle.com. “We expect this trend to continue, especially with this latest verdict.”

Hmm, I wonder how many of these Samsung folks just figured out they don't own an iPhone? ;)

Not even a week after the ruling the Kings of Copying are at it again.

*facepalm*

Oops! Samsung Did It Again: Samsung Stealing OSX Dock?

"S-Innovation at its finest, folks."
It's a desk Widget or Charm or whatever idiotic name MS is calling them these days, that can be placed anywhere on the screen, not a dock. ;)

Apple didn't invent the dock either.

Wow... they ripped a wallpaper.

Wow... they ripped a wallpaper.

Actually, it's a CoM story with no actual source. It could be a photoshop job for all we know, there has been no announcement from HTC on such a product, much less press material that actually uses that wallpaper (which is the iPad wallpaper).

So basically, at this point, the people posting it are simply posting FUD.

Prob the illiterate ones that can't read the word Samsung on the phone.
