I posted a link before in a previous thread in which a member of the [H]ardforum made a colour calibration file for the 24inch LED Cinema display using the Spyder3. It can be found here. I'm currently using this profile as it improves the colour of the LED Cinema Display (although the default profile is not bad already, unlike the MacBook or MacBook Pro).

Oh ok so thats where I saw it from hardforums! Thanks a lot man, although the link is not working at the moment, I'll check back there later for the color profile! I always preferred the spyder3 calibrations.

Damn it… More issues. Time to exchange again :(

what issues are you running into? So far there are no dead/stuck pixels, no dirt/hair/dust under the glass and the backlighting is so evenly lit even in pure black! No problems whatsoever and I snagged the last one too. =D

Wow thanks for the profile! Just when I thought the colors couldnt get any better!

Just set my 24" LED Cinema Display up and am using it now, man this thing is So sweet! MacBook Air runs this thing awesome. Lid closed 55 degrees C, running Safari and StarLight. This thing is so freakin' big.

Welcome to the family:D

I just picked up the 24" today and am VERY happy. I'm amazed at how white the whites are on the LED screens. I sold my 24" iMac to buy this and a MacBook Pro. The MBP next to my iMac made the iMac's whites look yellow!

I've noticed something odd a few times. At first I thought it was just my eyes playing tricks but then it happened several more times. I've only been able to notice it when I'm browsing a site that has a white background. It looks as if the screen shifts to a red tint then blue and finally back to white. It is very quick and very subtle but it is definitely happening. Anyone else seen anything like this before?

2 Questions:

1) How is the text quality and fine detail on the display?

2) What resolutions on both the MacBook/MacBook Pro are you running with the display as well as the display's own resolution for the best quality?

Thanks,

2 Questions:

1) How is the text quality and fine detail on the display?

I can answer the first one as I only use the LED Display with the lid closed.

The text is very clear, and I feel there is a ton of fine detail. I was looking at a Samsung LCD on my Vista Machine, and this thing is by far Brighter, Sharper, Better color, and not to mention Freakin' huge. The LED was the best purchase so far I think, it Turns the Air into a Desktop, then when I need to go the Air comes with me.

I bought the Mac USB Keyboard so when I plug it in to the back I gained another USB port. Apple has their crap planed out. Things I have pluged into the Display: MacBook Air Superddrive, USB Keyboard, and iPhone Dock. The Keyboard has 1 open USB slot with the other being taken buy the USB reciever of my Wireless Rechargeable Logitech Mouse. I am thinking of buying a USB Hub still but I do have one still open to connect a Camera, or a flashdrive.

I do have 1 COmplaint though, the feet on the MacBook Air are short, I understand why. You can't set the Air on the metal base of the Display like in this pic:

If you do you are covering up the vents of the laptop needed for cooling and since both are aluminum you get that metal scrape if you slide it on there. I think this is easily fixed if I have 2 wedges of some cool material I haven't thought of yet that I can place on either side of the display Foot and when they are lined up with the feet on the laptop they will give clearance enough to sit above the display foot and provide ventilation in the rear.

Thank you for the response.

Well, of course...the MBP has a TN panel while the LED Cinema Display has LG's newest H-IPS panel.

/whine But but but you can get another manufacturers 24" display for $200 with MORE INPUTS!!!! /whine /whine

well guys. I just bought the display will it work in bootcamp

I want to know this as well. Is it possible to run in clamshell only mode in bootcamp? I would like to play Fallout 3 just on the 24" display, with lid closed.

Yes it is. I just played fallout 3 last night for a 5 hour session with only the 24" led acd on.

All you have to do is go to the corner where the nvidia symbol is under windows, right click and choose display/single display or something like that. Only problem is that I cant get my external speakers to work, only the 24" acd's speakers work (but fine by me).

Just got my my 24" LED ACD. Really like it, but there are a few small clumps of dust under the screen that aren't hugely distracting, but are still "there." As others have said, for $900 this should be flawless. That said, it IS gorgeous.

Also, for those wondering, there is definitely a fan in the display, as it went completely nuts the first time I plugged it into my MacBook Pro, and then quietened down. You can put your ear to the back of the unit and hear it if you've got good hearing as it's VERY quiet.

So yes, the display is gorgeous, but be prepared for some dust specks, much like with the new MacBook Pros/MacBooks.

Anyone else seeing anything like this? It's been doing it all day today. The color is shifting often to red and blue and then back to normal. It is as if the color profile is being changed. I guess I'll take it back tomorrow.

Another Lad to the family of elite, Congrats!!!:D
