Does anyone know if i unscrew the back of my phone will i void the warranty?

dang, just emailed them. they said that unlike the other ones (i linked them to one of the 80+ dollar listings) theirs is non oem. but they assured me that its glass. Im curious on what the difference is. I figured the important part would be if the back is made up of glass or cheap plastic. If it turns out to be extremely poor quality, im going to be kicking myself for not just buying a 10 plastic one

bought the same one. my only concern is that the tabs on the bottom are plastic. what are the chances that they somehow break apart and make the back plate fall off while the tabs are still stuck on, than i won't be able to get them out.

yeah, i know. im a worry wart and a tad bit paranoid.

Please report back if the part comes with Flash defuser & heat plate.

Yes it does, I ordered the entire kit for my wife and it comes with everything that the stock OEM parts came with, these are definitely more complete than most of the ebay ones.

So to reiterate, my back door came with diffuser and what you call "heat plate"

If you dont mind me asking when did you order from iresq? Maybe their new stuff is more complete now than when OP ordered theirs?!

i wish they posted to australia.

It's probably plastic. You can see it doesn't have metal brackets on the bottom like the other sellers (80 USD+) have it for. I don't think you got ripped off, though. It will serve the same purpose.

Yeah I talked to him, it is glass, but it has plastic screw tabs and it appears to not have a flash bezel. Looks like it's just a ring painted around the opening.

the cost of making the full back plate is like $5.

sale at $20-$30 is more reasonable

the housing is def not 5 bucks. or else the ebay sellers would sell it for 6 bucks lol. the glass only is 5 bucks. the housing total is proly around 40-50. who knows how many people it goes through before reaching usa. thats why price is inflated.

I'm very tempted now that they have complete parts and widespread availability of headphone/dock parts in white, but part of me thinks that, since we're seeing complete parts now, and price drops, that perhaps the white iPhone is nearing release.

as do i

few of these places don't post to australia which is a shame...and i prefer to shop on one of the more reputable online stores rather than ebay

you can choose either or... they can "professionally install" it for you if you ship it to them or you can just have them ship the backplate to you. I'm kinda tempted to get my whole phone swapped from them and give them my black housing but then i'll have no warranty :(

Do you HAVE to send in your phone to iresq, or can they just ship you the backplate?

I ordered my white backplate and it will be shipped here! I am not sending my iPhone anywhere! I stays here with me! I have a hard enough time letting other people hold my phone to look at a picture! Lol!

Same with me. I will never let others touch my beloved device!

I ordered last week, on September 1st, 2010. So you are probably right.

Yeah I find it completely amazing. It is more complete yet the price is dropped tremendously. Anyways, the back piece; is it plastic where the 2 screws screw in or is it metal? Im hearing two types. What did you get? And is it metal or plastic on the original? I haven't taken mine off as of yet so just wondering. Thanks for your response by the way.

FYI, for those who are doing the self-install kit of the front digitizer and home button.

The home button isn't for those who aren't very technical with their hands. The issue is that the snap dome module is assembled as a sticker, so to transfer from the black button to the white, i had to use a mini heat gun to heat up the area, just enough to make the adhesive enough so that I could slowly peel it off with a thin plastic spudger.

Be aware though, the entire assembly ain't for the light hearted. The good thing is that once you do it once, it's easy to do it again. Confidence builds with each disassembly and assembly.

Also, it helps to have someone who has worked with PCB doing rework and that has had experience with layout and understanding mechanical design and manufacturing, well at least enough to modifiy and work with consumer products. :)

bad news...

i received my "oem white back with diffuser" on saturday, installed it, and did some testing. visually the diffuser appears identical to the true oem on my black back, but ultimately the combination of the white back's light bleed issue (see my previously posted images) combined with the apparent focus of the diffuser causes substantial problems.

attached are two random pictures captured in a pitch black room with the flash engaged. the first image is with the white back + diffuser installed. every flash picture taken with this assembly exhibits the same blue tint and haze. the second image is my reinstalled white back without the diffuser assembly.

disappointing results. when the led is turned on with the diffuser back installed the light appears in two distinct concentric rings. i am guessing that when the flash engages the second ring overlaps and saturates the lens with light.

i am going to try to return the diffuser back to the ebay seller.

Been meaning to post this since last week but the long holiday weekend held me up a bit. I got the full white replacement from iResQ with dual overnight shipping and have to say I absolutely love the look, but definitely have some issues which I am not too pleased about. I hated having to send my phone in to someone else, but I'm not going to play games with the front and home button. The whole process left me away from my iPhone for about 36 hours total which was absolutely fantastic speed that came with some shortcomings I would quickly realize.

First thing I did when I got it back was give it a very thorough examination and immediately noticed both cameras now had prints and scratches on the inside of the lens and around the flash there was very slight paint chipping, although the flash did have a diffuser. These scratches noticeably degrade the picture quality and you can tell by just holding a second iPhone4 next to mine pointed at the same thing. The macro just cannot focus on anything.

Second issue is there is a pretty obvious flaw/defect in the front glass which I have included a picture of. It may be a bit difficult to really see it but in person you can tell near the corner the glass is a little warped/melted area or something. With a bumper on you can't see it but it is still unacceptable.

Biggest issue is that the proximity sensor is 100% unresponsive..not that these sensors ever worked right to begin with, but covering the entire top of the phone doesn't dim the screen whatsoever. You absolutely cannot talk on the phone without an immediate mute, add call, end call accidental button press.

I contacted iResQ and they immediately sent me an overnight label back to have everything replaced again which is cool, but another 2.5 days without my phone is a real pain in the ass. Hopefully they get it right this time. I'm sending it out this evening so I'll give you guys an update Thursday when I get it back.
