Been meaning to post this since last week but the long holiday weekend held me up a bit. I got the full white replacement from iResQ with dual overnight shipping and have to say I absolutely love the look, but definitely have some issues which I am not too pleased about. I hated having to send my phone in to someone else, but I'm not going to play games with the front and home button. The whole process left me away from my iPhone for about 36 hours total which was absolutely fantastic speed that came with some shortcomings I would quickly realize.

First thing I did when I got it back was give it a very thorough examination and immediately noticed both cameras now had prints and scratches on the inside of the lens and around the flash there was very slight paint chipping, although the flash did have a diffuser. These scratches noticeably degrade the picture quality and you can tell by just holding a second iPhone4 next to mine pointed at the same thing. The macro just cannot focus on anything.

Second issue is there is a pretty obvious flaw/defect in the front glass which I have included a picture of. It may be a bit difficult to really see it but in person you can tell near the corner the glass is a little warped/melted area or something. With a bumper on you can't see it but it is still unacceptable.

Biggest issue is that the proximity sensor is 100% unresponsive..not that these sensors ever worked right to begin with, but covering the entire top of the phone doesn't dim the screen whatsoever. You absolutely cannot talk on the phone without an immediate mute, add call, end call accidental button press.

I contacted iResQ and they immediately sent me an overnight label back to have everything replaced again which is cool, but another 2.5 days without my phone is a real pain in the ass. Hopefully they get it right this time. I'm sending it out this evening so I'll give you guys an update Thursday when I get it back.

Sorry to hear about your eperience. I appreciate you telling everyone here the truth so others don't end up with the same issues. Please report back when you get your phone back.

bad news...

i received my "oem white back with diffuser" on saturday, installed it, and did some testing. visually the diffuser appears identical to the true oem on my black back, but ultimately the combination of the white back's light bleed issue (see my previously posted images) combined with the apparent focus of the diffuser causes substantial problems.

attached are two random pictures captured in a pitch black room with the flash engaged. the first image is with the white back + diffuser installed. every flash picture taken with this assembly exhibits the same blue tint and haze. the second image is my reinstalled white back without the diffuser assembly.

disappointing results. when the led is turned on with the diffuser back installed the light appears in two distinct concentric rings. i am guessing that when the flash engages the second ring overlaps and saturates the lens with light.

i am going to try to return the diffuser back to the ebay seller.

Where did you get yours from, iResQ or ebay?

eBay. the diffuser assembly looks fine and identical to my black OEM but i think when combined with the light bleed issue inherent to the white models problems begin to emerge.

maybe junebug1 can take some flash pictures as a second test.

As requested here is a flash picture. The really awful one is from my White iPhone4 and the clean image is from a Black iPhone4. There is a noticeable difference in image quality. See for yourself below.

That doesn't look so good. Can someone please take a picture of the back of both the white & black side by side for comparison?

I hear what everyone is saying about the white back and light saturation. But to be honest none of the pictures I have taken with my flash with the original backplate on ever look that great! My pics only seem to be really good when it is daytime and all! It takes excellent pics then! So irony even know if I would really be using the flash that much to worry about saturation! Just my thoughts!

@DjAmTraX I just sent my phone back off to iResQ so I will have to take the comparison pictures Thursday when I get it back.

@bludragon06 I don't disagree with you that the pictures with flash never looked great to begin with and the point is that they look ever worse now. I took a video yesterday during the day and it looks awful compared to what it used to. Half my issue could be the scratches and marks that were on the backside of my lens, but after talking to some other people with replacement backs they all seem to have the same issue. Again when I get my phone back hopefully the quality is better but comparing daylight shots from my white to a black phone it was quite different.

Wow, I would be upset to say the least. It is good that they are willing to work with you as far as making it right, but those types of problems should never have happened to begin with. It seems that these so called "experts" are far from it.

You would have likely been better off working on the phone yourself. I really do not understand why people say that repair work on iPhones is so difficult, it ain't rocket science guys. I am in the middle of repairing a 2G, and everywhere I look are all of these warnings and disclaimers that these repairs are extremely difficult, and should not be attempted by the average Joe. The fact is, these phones are designed to be able to be serviceable. It's not like apple welded them shut, or designed it so that you can't replace individual parts.

With the abundance of information that exists describing how to disassemble these phones in detail, anyone should be capable of doing the work themselves. And that way, you know it will be done right, instead of some hack rushing through it because they have 15 other phones to work on that day. You just have to be careful, go slowly, and do your research, and everything will go fine.

On the light leak issue, has anyone tried to maybe fit some light blocking material on the backside of the rear cover, around the flash cutout? It seems like if you were to cut some dark vinyl, or even electrical tape around the area where the light is leaking through the glass that might go a long way towards helping the issue. It would also be thin enough that it shouldn't interfere with the fit of the piece onto the phone.

a bit of foam around the lens to block the flash? Something like small strip of foam weatherstrip?

i've been wanting to change the back since the first day of this thread but i'm glad u guys are mentioning this as a decreased photographic quality in photos makes me definitely not want to do it anymore as i love taking photos with my iphone.....

thanks for the heads up guys!

My white screen with clear Incase Snap... I don't have the earpiece grille, didn't realize it was missing and I don't wanna take my phone apart so I just dealt with it.

Hey guys (and gals). I just got my white backplate from iresq.com and will be doing a youtube video on it and installing on video this weekend. Just wanted to update everyone on whats going on. Quick note: I opened the box to look at the plate. Wanted to make sure it wasn't damaged and noticed (or atleast looked like) it has the diffuser. And the legs where the screws screw into look like they are metal. Ill post a link to the video within the weekend! Thanks guys!

Why on earth would they charge $89 for this when Apple themselves charge £25 and around $40????
