Just Got My White Glass Backplate For My iPhone 4

epic failed again !:( , look at the magic mouse on the side , the top is covered with a half inch of clear glass , beneath that clear glass is white but is it white thin glass ? white paint on plastic? white decal on aluminum? who knows?
still . i don't think its comparable.

You don't make sense. Do you even have a Magic Mouse? The glass is as clear as crystal regardless if it's the mouse or the iPhone. The white colour beneath the mouse's glass is a layer of paint with a layer of transparent capacitive sensor. The glass is not 0.5" but rather 2mm. If you compare it to the iPhone glass it's 1mm. The thicknesses are more than reasonable to make comparisons. Of course they're using different paints. The one on the mouse doesn't have a light source beneath it, but the iPhone does and that requires a more opaque paint. Now evidently when you compare the two the iPhone back does not look as pure white as the mouse. Maybe once they've figured out a consistency fit for production they'll look the same. But for now the ones sold on eBay and the like are these rejected batches.

Also how is that epic fail, really sorry but you don't justify your opinions clearly and what you do say is not helping either. You are saying that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the colour of white iPhone. Please explain to yourself the recent news about the delay of white iPhones then. Maybe you should also get the white glass from the same seller where I got mine. And when the white iPhone is released why don't you visit your nearest Apple Store for a comparison? :rolleyes:

Might be similar but it's not the exact part they're using for the diffuser. All they've done is glued the plastic diffuser to the back, it doesn't have the trim around it.

Calm down mate:D dont go banzai on me now :eek: just continue with your series of comparison and I'll give you my unjustified opinion ,either it's an epic fail or a reasonable comparison ;) the white MacBook should be next in line.........

That is absolutely the best way , wait until apple releases the official white iPhone ,and then compare the 2 , that way you don't have to be going out of your way to root out the exact defect by comparing with a different product which is manufactured differently to ones own specification .

I'll loan you my taffeta white Honda cr-v ,you can compare that too lmao:rolleyes:

yeah alright, I'll wait until Apple's released the white iPhone officially. that ought to take out the guesswork and comparisons. you're probably right I shouldn't compare with other apple products but I thought there's got to be a valid reason with the delay. Anyway in the meantime these white glass backplates are the closest to a white iPhone. :p

The website says the back plate doesn't come with the flash difusser...what is this and what impact does it have on the camera?

Never...didn't realize there were more pages
 
I think it looks great. I speculated when Gizmodo leaked the phone that replacement would be this easy.
 
Wait what is the point of the foam? Do people want it just because then it's 'complete' or does it serve a purpose. You could say it protects the glass but then they would have had it all over the housing back. Weird.

i read a review in another forum of this item from this seller. dude said it was great. no diffuser or 'foam' but overall great for the price (lowest in america?). he got his in 3 days, me 2 days. thinking about getting my friends one :p

but damn, all these other sellers selling it for 80-100 makes me wondering if i made the right decision. i emailed the seller and he assured me it was glass so i mean what else can be different that makes the others sell for 50 more dollars? I hope i didn't blow 30 dollars. Thats wasteful.

It's probably plastic. You can see it doesn't have metal brackets on the bottom like the other sellers (80 USD+) have it for. I don't think you got ripped off, though. It will serve the same purpose.
 
dang, just emailed them. they said that unlike the other ones (i linked them to one of the 80+ dollar listings) theirs is non oem. but they assured me that its glass. Im curious on what the difference is. I figured the important part would be if the back is made up of glass or cheap plastic. If it turns out to be extremely poor quality, im going to be kicking myself for not just buying a 10 plastic one :confused:
