For bragging rights?

I like my SE 2020 although I would really enjoy a phone that was smaller than what i have now.

I can't speak for Duel, but I'd say for the cameras, not bragging rights. That's the difference that'll probably leave me on the fence between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro. If my expectations are right, I'll prefer the size of the former but the cameras of the latter.

A phone the size of the iPhone 5 with a great camera makes sense. I am not a big camera person. My main thought would be smaller in the pocket and even easier to use one-handed than the SE 2020.

well DUH! Here at macrumors, we absolutely must have the best of the best or life as we know it will come to a halt. If the best is 1.5 TB RAM in a phone, then we absolutely must have 1.5 TB RAM. Anything else will cause Steve Jobs to roll in his grave.

Errr, how can you see how something will feel?

Yes, you can view a smaller correctly downsized image of your existing display but your hand (or as Apple would call it, human haptic feedback) still says you’re holding a bigger X/XS/Pro etc.

Until the actual phone comes out (or unless you can get your hands on a dummy unit) this is the best we got.

I'm using an iPhone SE. I'll definitely go for the small iPhone 12 as a nice upgrade. I have a real camera - all I use the iPhone cam for is food pics and other silliness - so I don't need the larger models for that. I'm looking forward to this release!

I wish people could stop comparing it to iPhone XS 5.8" or iPhone 6.1" Of course it is smaller, we knew that already.

Compare it to the Current iPhone SE2 4.7" and the Old iPhone SE 4". That is what it should sit next to.

Great! now I possibly leave my original SE (yes I still use the SE, I hate bigger phones!).
I got a 128GB 6s Plus when they launched and gave my 5s to my wife.

I thought I would like the larger sized screen of the 6s Plus, but it was annoying to use one handed, especially when taking photos.

My wife cracked the screen of my 5s (just like she did with her 5 before the 5s), and I got her an SE1 and a Otterbox defender case.

While handling my wife's new SE1 to put in the Defender case, I really started to miss the smaller size iPhone. I would have bought an SE1 for myself, but they didn't make a 128GB storage size for the SE1 at the time.

As soon as the 128GB SE1 came out, I purchased it. I sold my 6s Plus to a friend, and besides a few little things I missed from it, like the faster Touch ID2 and easier two-handed typing, I got used to the smaller sized SE1 really quickly.

My friend that I sold the 6s Plus to end up complaining about the same stuff as me (too big for pockets, no where to place it in cars, hard for one-handed use), and has since bought an SE2. He has been happy with the smaller sized phone.

I'm inclined to get it because I've been using my phone less and less for the things where a bigger screen is nice (namely web browsing and reading). I mostly quickly use an app to get the weather, turn down my thermostat, check a delivery, or start a podcast. If I'm browsing or doing something where a big screen is nice, it's generally on an iPad Mini or a 15" MBP.

That could change post-covid, but the Apple Watch has given me a taste for freedom from spending lots of time starting at screens when I'm out and about.

On my xr the first thing I saw is that I can actually (again) reach the top without stretching too much....basically not at all. Will be interesting to try it out!

Macrumors: Any chance that when this phone appears you could compare it to an original SE in terms of features, performance and so on?

I know there won't be TOO many people trading up that far but there are a vocal minority holding out precisely that long for a small but powerful phone (me) who would love that article to exist.

Let's face it, most phone reviews, when it comes to the "should you upgrade" section say that if you have last year's or the year before's model, don't bother. At least this might show some progress.

I'm thinking the 6.1" is going to be the sweet spot this year. I have the 11 Pro Max, which is 6.5" and I doubt I'll want to go even bigger. This thing barely fits in my pocket as it is.

Back when Apple had values.

#SteveJobsEra

Not sure I'd 100% agree with the values concept here.

I presume you are an intelligent person :)
And you fully understand the very long process in building mobile phones.
With the 12 coming out this year, the 13 is probably well under development, and the 14 is in early stages.

So Apple spoke on stage about how a small phone was great, and showed a video about thus fact.
Whilst at the exact same time, in-house working on much larger screens.

Hence me saying not sure about the values, if you are already developing something which contradicts what you are publicly saying.
