And this is why I have been asking for the ability to set a timer or have profiles. I need my work email to beep at night and for my phone to RING in case work calls or there is a family emergency, but I don't need my personal email account beeping all night long. especially when it fills up with all the Macrumors posts from all you great night owls. This is something Apple truely needs to work into their os. Android has it. BB has it. hell even Windows Phones have it.... why not Apple?

I've been looking into making an app for doing just that, kind of like 'timed profiles', but the problem is in xCode it is hard to gain access to the volume of the iPhone without using undocumented APIs. Maybe with ios5 and xCode 4.2 you can.

Few questions if anyone can help. I've installed ios 5 on both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

-How do I get the messages to sync, or is this not functional yet?

-The camera button doesn't appear on my lock screen

-Is document syncing in beta yet?

-Is iTunes match in beta yet?

iMessage and SMS with iPhone/iPad

Couple of questions regarding iMessage:

-Is it a separate app or is it a part of the Messages app? Or is the Messages app now a part of a new iMessages app?

-Does the cloud syncing of iMessages with an iPad/iPod touch/iPhone work with text messages or will you only see the blue iMessages on an iPad or iPod touch?

-How does it decide to whether or not to send an iMessage or a SMS to someone else on an iPhone? What happens if I'm able to send an iMessage but they can't receive one?

-Do all iMessages and SMS messages to a contact get aggregated with old SMS messages? Or does it split off into a new message thread? i.e., on my iPhone, do all new iMessages and SMS messages with John show up in the same thread as all my previous SMS/MMS messages or does a new thread get created?

You are correct. I only use 1 month so didn't see that. For now the no limit option is gone. Both on gmail and corporate exchange setups.

Interestingly, if you try to set a custom location it brings up the contacts database. Not sure why. I would think maps would be more appropriate since now I can't enter the address I want t geotag since it's not associated with a contact. You see this too?

Yeah, I noticed that. I figured it might just be a beta thing.
 
I got verified and downloaded 5. Instructions say in itunes, hold shift and click restore and to navigate to downloaded file. I cant see the file when I get to that point, but can see it sitting on the desktop when not there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! Im using a pc by the way.
 
Is there a way to assign different email tones to different contacts?
I would like to know who is emailing me by assigning a particular tone to a contact. I have wanted this since day one. Is this available in iOS 5?

Only text messages from what I have seen.

Shift? On a Mac you use the ALT key. Maybe it's the same for PC.

is it a *.dmg file? if so you need to extract it to get to the *.ipsx file.

EDIT: looks like you are on windows, is it zipped?

Why don't you go into your mail settings and put your personal emails to manually fetch. That solves the issues.
 
Have there been any changes to group SMS, or group email? Currently, every time you add another user to the send list, you have to hit the + button again and go through the list. Any custom-save groups at all?
 
I'm trying to update to iOS 5 and the restore keeps getting stuck at about 60%. I've tried numerous times. Anyone else having the same issue? Or does anyone have a solution? I'm running iTunes 10.5 on a Mac. I do have a Windows machine as well and I could use that if iTunes 10.5 is available for Windows.
