Have there been any changes to group SMS, or group email? Currently, every time you add another user to the send list, you have to hit the + button again and go through the list. Any custom-save groups at all?

No. Still glaring hole.

So, one thing I noticed is my exchange email no longer syncs/loads on my iphone with iOS 5. Any figure a way around that? The corporate certificate loaded with the settings, but fails to connect to server....

Couple of questions regarding iMessage:

-Is it a separate app or is it a part of the Messages app? Or is the Messages app now a part of a new iMessages app?

-Does the cloud syncing of iMessages with an iPad/iPod touch/iPhone work with text messages or will you only see the blue iMessages on an iPad or iPod touch?

-How does it decide to whether or not to send an iMessage or a SMS to someone else on an iPhone? What happens if I'm able to send an iMessage but they can't receive one?

-Do all iMessages and SMS messages to a contact get aggregated with old SMS messages? Or does it split off into a new message thread? i.e., on my iPhone, do all new iMessages and SMS messages with John show up in the same thread as all my previous SMS/MMS messages or does a new thread get created?

- Part of the Messages app, SMS/MMS/iMessage is one app, differentiator is the blue and green messages.

- Blue only.

- Probably using the phone number, the same way WhatsApp and Viber work. Maybe an iTunes account. You won't be able to send an iMessage to those who can't receive one. Also as I've read here, when composing a message to people who can receive both, two buttons appear, green and blue.

- All in the same thread, a conversation with John, providing he can send/receive iMessages will have both green and blue coloured messages, depending on what's being used, but it'll all be in one "John" conversation in the Messages app.

iMessages are a feature within Messages

-Does the cloud syncing of iMessages with an iPad/iPod touch/iPhone work with text messages or will you only see the blue iMessages on an iPad or iPod touch?
No idea, don't think they've implemented this yet, or atleast I haven't been able to test it.

When you input the number (or email address), it will scan it for a second, if it's an iMessage capable device your send button will turn blue and it will act as an iMessage. Otherwise it will turn to green and send as a SMS. It's basically an overlay ontop of the SMS conversation, and you dont need to set it up, it does it all for you! And if they can receive an iMessage, they can send one, it's not a send only or receive only service, if their device isn't capable it detects it and just sends it as an SMS.

From what I saw, after the phone detects its an iMessage capable receiver, it stays within the conversation, the chat bubbles become blue instead of green for all the iMessages you sent. But it all stays within one thread.

Responses within the quote.

Incorrect, if their capable of receiving an iMessage, it sends as an iMessage. As far as I'm aware their is no other way of selecting to send as an SMS.

You are correct. It knows when to send an iMessage or SMS (much better than the way blackberry does it IMO)

Can you put more icons in a folder now? I think it was 12 apps in a folder forgot.I'm JB..also is there like a muilti icon mover? It's a pain to move apps one by one in a folder takes forever when you have a good amount of apps..

Apple should make a Organzier app or something in the settings to auto put apps in categories in a folder makes it more easy

Thanks :)

Folders and moving apps around all still work exactly the same as in iOS 4. No change there.

Is the Wireless iTunes syncing not working for anyone else? The sync button is grayed out and says it will be available when my MacBook Pro is. I'm running the 10.5 beta of iTunes too. Have they just not enabled this feature yet?

Noticed any issues with music syncing? I've got iOS5 installed but every time I try to sync music, it syncs incorrectly.

It'll sync some files normally and classify them in iTunes as 'Music', but then others it will not sync at all (tells me the files could not be found, even though everything's consolidated in my iTunes Library and all file paths are correct!) and the it'll also re-sync files which have previously synced perfectly and then leave them displaying as un-synced completely, yet leave the files on the iPhone and classify them as 'Other' in iTunes!

Noticed this at all?

Yea same here,
bloody annoying

Why don't you go into your mail settings and put your personal emails to manually fetch. That solves the issues.

That's a pain to do every night, then switch back in the morning. Same with email sounds, text messages, etc. Plus, I have several email accounts on my phone.

Apple says they want the user experience to be as easy as possible. Surely profiles are about as easy as can be?

Anyone can answer that???

I have "Store" preferences question.

Does it allow different address than what your iCloud/mobile me is now?

Perhaps a post I made will describe what I mean so I will post it here.

---------------------------------------

Here is scenario.

I have 2 iPhones and a iPod touch for kid. We all have the SAME Apple ID linked to AppStore purchases so we don't have to download 3 separate copies and pay for all 3.

We have MobileMe family pack with separate email addresses for separate calendar, email, etc...

Here is the problem:
On the new screen shots for iCloud you use your Apple ID to, and i qoute, "Your apple ID sets up iCloud, the AppStore, iTunes Store and more"

Then the iCloud setup (outside of Apple ID sign in area) has only 1 slider of on and off for, and I quote, "Store your contacts, calendars, photos, music, books, APPS, and more..." ...... WITH NO SEPARATE LOGIN!!!!!

That means in order to have separate email, calendars, etc... You have to have DIFFERENT Apple IDs for syncing different email and calendars.

THE OUTCOME (if this true)
You have to have different Apple IDs for different users. And since the ability to SHARE one paid download among all the devices is linked to the Apple ID, and all your devices have to have diffent Apple IDs means you have to purchase each app separately for each device with a different Apple ID.

IF THIS IS TRUE, BIG TROUBLE
I don't want to buy every app we ALL use 3 times.

AM I WRONG? (I hope I missed something)

-------------------------

From screenshots it looks like the Apple ID is only entered in ONE spot to control ALL iCloud/App Store/iTunes/calendar/email... Etc....

quick compose/reply

yeah ive been jailbroken since the 3G, i gave it up for this, only thing i miss is bitesms so far.

theres no option for custom sms tones, but there is a buy more tones option at the top.

So you can not quick reply or compose a message from the lockscreen or with in and app?
Really how hard would this of been for them .. I'll stay JB just for that reason alone.. no need to have to go to the messaging app to respond.
