Well, until Apple offers resolution independence some people will find the user interface a bit too small.

So 1680x1050 on the 17" screen would be similar PPI to 1440x900 on the 15" - bit more comfortable on the eyes.

Don't get me wrong, higher resolution is great, but some people like me, find things just a bit too small, and it would be nice if Apple provided a way to change the DPI.

Quite so. ;) Not for me though. :D

Could you set the old and new machines side by side again and take a nice close up of the top inner corners of each machine, where they meet? Like a picture that shows the left machine's top right corner and the right machine's top left corner nice and close so we can get a feel for how much smaller the menu bar is by comparison between the two?

TIA.

Okay, so I found the originals; they are not great in quality, but I cropped the bezel out, and enlarged it so you can see the differences. Sorry for the crappy quality; that's what you get when you use a crappy P&S.

thanks for that. looks like it shouldn't be an issue, hopefully

The bottom left of mine looks a tad brighter if I look closely. I think that's pretty normal.

heliam,

I can see a bit more gray on the left side bottom part but don't see the yellow.

entatlrg,

I'm not the original poster but I've had mine for about 3 weeks and am enjoying it. I haven't migrated my old iMac to it though as my sister and I are sharing this one. I got a 27" iMac so transferred all my old files to that one. I may eventually put it on the laptop but want to clean out more files etc.

At first I noticed the font was a bit smaller but after a few days I got used to it. The only thing I find annoying and maybe it's just me but when I'm trying to move my fingers along the track pad to move a file etc. I keep accidently enlarging and shrinking my folders. I'm sure there is a way to disable this though and I just have to get used to the new track pad. I'm used to the older models where you had a bit of a raised edge.

Too all of you complaining that the higher res screen has "tiny letters" that strain your eyes, fear not, lion will solve that for you.

Best Regards
SilverOne.

Why? Why revive a thousand year old thread when there are active ones about this today... :S
