Just had confirmation from OWC that mine is in the UK & it was shipped from US yesterday! Wtf? That is some service! AND to top it off, my brand new, 2011, 2.3ghz, 4gb (got 8gb ready to go in), 500gb HDD arrived this afternoon.

I'm extremely moist at the moment...

I tried benching with Windows 7 via bootcamp and it's nowhere fast as OSX.

Anyone know if there is some settings I need to tweak?

I did the followings:

1. Drive Indexing disabled.
2. Prefetch/Superfetch disabled.
3. Defrag disabled.
4. Enable AHCI
--> Tweaked under Regedit but I'm not sure if this is enabled as it's generally done in Bios on boot for Windows PC.

You got 2" on me mate. Our books are the same apart from screen size. You got the 6G too then. Flipping easter break tho hey. Don't think I'll see it till tues now. Bugger!

Another issue to report, everything is working fine EXCEPT Transmission which gives me 3-5 sec beach ball when quitting.

I don't think that is your SSD. Transmission often does this for me too. When you stop transfers, give it a minute to stop everything before you exit the app.

Strange, Intel 320 had no such issues. Well it's not a big problem for me anyways.

I'm confused. These numbers are great but I noticed people have mentioned OWC's drive is faster but every test I've seen, the Vertex 3 is faster.

I own a OWC SSD drive now and besides the hibernating issues its been great (customer service as well).

is hibernating/sleep issue fixed in new models SATA3??

It was always hit and miss, I personally have never had a problem.

Hi there,

I've been waiting for these drives to hit so am very excited. Then I read the 17" Macbook Pro's have issues! Boo!

I see there's a "fix" from OWC but just wondering if anyone out there has tested the drive with a 17"? I don't really want to blow $500 if this drive is slowed / unreliable in anyway.

Regards,
Simon

The 240 GB are faster than the 120 GB and the 240's haven't begun shipping yet. The fact that the 120's are as close to the Vertex 3 240 GB as they are is pretty sweet.

Installing 120GB 6G today.

What program are you guys using to measure the performance of your SSD?

Battery life is ok, i think iv lost about 30min but not sure because the time counter is going up and down!

just enabled Trim Successfully :)
How has your experience been with TRIM enabled? I enabled TRIM and I would get beach balls every hour and my computer would freeze for about 5- 10 minutes. Once I disabled TRIM, it stopped. While it was my understanding that because of the new SandForce drives TRIM was not needed. But I figured if it didn't hurt anything, why not?
