There's a reason why the 5C is not selling well, its priced too high. Selling it for more would be a bad move by apple. I'd have to say plastic feels like plastic regardless of what phone we're talking about.

I do like the look of the 5c, and there are different grades of plastic but its by no means a premium product. Moving all their phones to plastic would be a bad move imo

And plastic feels great. I'm holding my jugs right now during breakfast and they feel nice.

I'd love to know how many of these people in here who have fallen in love with the plastic 5c has teased samsung owners about their plastic phones in the past?
And it could easily be none.

There's a difference between slimy, cheap-feeling Samsung plastic and plastic from a company that actually gives a crap about how a device feels in the hand.

You see this is exactly what I'm talking about. So I guess as long as Apple uses plastic it's allright, cause it's "better" plastic. Ridiculous.

Did you completely ignore the part where I specifically mentioned companies OTHER than Apple (i.e. Nokia) who also put care and quality into their products?

Your snide remarks imply that you think a Hyundai Pony is the same thing as a Mecedes S600 because they both have engines, doors, and are made mostly out of metal.

The plastic feels incredible, and it looks amazing. It looks better than 5S imho. They should dump the aluminium and go with plastic from now on for all models.

And this certainly is not the same kind of plastic on other plastic phones. I have never seen plastic looking like that.

I think someone touched your brain. ;)

There's no analogy. And no, plastic wouldn't look as good on computers imho. So I don't think Airs or MBP's should switch to plastic. But I just liked the 5C's plastic much more than the aluminium of 5S. It doesn't just look better, it feels better in my hand as well. It's also much less slippery.

Does this means you prefer to drink from a plastic cup over a glass cup?

Just touched a 5C. This should have been the more expensive model imho.

I used to use a cyan Nokia Lumia 920 as my daily driver, and that device felt every bit as solid and premium as any other phone, including the iPhone. I would put the 5c in the same category. Nokia and Apple plastic is not the same as Samsung plastic. The difference is immediately apparent just from holding any of those phones.

That's opinion I guess. Unless we are supposed to ignore the slimy finger print magnet threads iPhone 5C owners are posting. There is one at the top of this form as I type this.

In terms of manufacturing the processes are nearly identical. Don't fool yourself saying the 5C is anything other then lacquer coated injection molded plastic. Which is exactly why people post the slimy finger print magnet threads, you are ignoring the physics of something that smooth being anything else.

I'll concede in saying the iPhone 5C feels good for plastic and rigidity compared to some of the competition. But that's only due to it being smaller so it's harder to flex and because there is no battery, sim, and/or micro sd cover.

I love the way the 5c feels and it runs iOS 7 well enough but the colors are very off putting. An all white and all black are desperately needed.

I disagree totally. It's cool that you like the 5C and it's a decent phone no doubt. But the metal 5S, looks better, feels better, and is the better phone.

I just wish the build quality of 5S was as good as that of the 5C. No rattles whatsoever on 5C.
I got a 5S last month and the power button at the top rattled a lot and the one I got last week is even worse. Even with the apple case on. The phone sounds cheap when it vibrates and more than the motor you hear the rattle.

There are 5c phones with problems... As there are also flawless 5s models.

The thing I have the biggest problem with is the snobbery towards the 5c... On June 7th 2009 apple was still releasing plastic flagship phones and everyone was eating it up. Now that they have migrated to aluminum and glass everyone wants to discredit apple's ability to make great phones no matter what they are made of. For me, the ability to save 100 dollars, have a more comfortable phone (I know, totally opinion based), and still have a great mobile experience is worth it! It kind of feels like people around here think people chose the 5c because they are poor and that isn't the case most of the time.

Here, here.

The elitist attitude toward the device and the way some look down at 5c owners is embarrassing.

Some people CHOSE the 5c out of personal preference and some will CHOSE the 5c for financial reasons. Regardless there is no need for the way some in the Apple community borderline ridicule the device and it's owners.

In the UK the 5c is free on most tariffs from £32 per month including 4G data. The 5s is still commanding £119 (using O2 as an example) up front for the same tariifs. Most tariffs to get 5s free are over £40 per month.

The 5c is a great device. My father in law, a friend, and three work colleagues (one switching from owning Galaxy S devices all her days) have recently bought one and love them.

To these people I say, "To each their own", but if owning the "best smartphone" makes you all warm and fuzzy inside then you need to get a life.

Yeah cause the back of my "premium" 4 and 4s didn't once attract a single fingerprint ...

I would have liked to see a white 5c with a white face. But to say it's more premium than the 5s... naaaaah.

----------

The silver 5s is one if the most premium looking phones I've ever held. I think even more than the Space Grey I replaced for.

What are you talking about? Seriously I have no idea how you took what I said and came up with that.

You were bemoaning/pointing out the 5c owners and their "slimy fingerprints", making out it was an issue only 5c users experienced?

I sarcastically pointed out the 4 and 4s never sufferered from fingerprints on the back glass. All iPhones get fingerprints, even the small glass "windows" top and bottom of the back of the 5/5s.

That's incorrect.

I was pointing out the 5C gets slimy and fingerprinted just like other manufacturers who use plastic.

Read the post I quoted where the poster said there is a difference between using slimy cheap plastic and what Apple does.

How did any of the rest of my post make sense with what you thought? Lol

And where did you read iPhone 5c is not selling well ?
Are you basing your assumption on production switch in a factory like many else did on this forum ?
I have no data about iPhone 5c sales.
Actually the only report we have is iPhone 5 just had a 27% increase during Black Friday, much more than iPhone 5s ....

----------

If the 5c had the same tech as the 5s, I'd have chosen the 5c. It's comfortable to hold, which means more to me than having a sleek metal frame.

I agree with you.

----------

Compared to the specs of the 5s, the 5c is way overpriced. A $100 difference for a much better camera (burst mode, true tone flash, slo-mo, better sensor.. etc), touch ID, A7 & M7 chips?

I liked the 5c and feeling you get when holding it. But in my opinion, I would pay the extra $100 to get the latest tech rather than saving $100 and be a year behind.

I think the price of the 5c is to make people go for the 5s. They succeeded in that, and the numbers prove this easily.

Ok, and his point is that WAS THE SAME LAST YEAR WITH IPHONE 4S but nobody screamed in pain ....

----------

It would still be a plastic outdated year old technology phone that simply is not worth buying. But in all black or white.

You are a well known basher .... There is nothing outdated in iPhone 5c.
It runs EVERY AND I SAY AGAIN EVERY apps without problems, with extremely good performance.
This is not android, when you need an eightcore 3 Ghz Chipset just to run the os smoothly ....
Who cares about tech specs if the iPhone can run ANYTHING FINE ?

No one of the plastic high end Samsung phones I have in my home (s2, s3 and S4 mini) is comparable with iPhone 5c.

Only Nokia Lumia can compete ....

The plastic feels incredible, and it looks amazing. It looks better than 5S imho. They should dump the aluminium and go with plastic from now on for all models.

And this certainly is not the same kind of plastic on other plastic phones. I have never seen plastic looking like that.

The 5c is a great phone for Women and girls, as for the plastic being incredible, c'mon be real, just felt like slimy plastic to me no different than if you put a plastic case on any phone.

Your snide remarks imply that you think a Hyundai Pony is the same thing as a Mecedes S600 because they both have engines, doors, and are made mostly out of metal.

Never said that. Just because they are made of the same materials and feel the same on the outside doesn't mean they perform the same.

But like I said, if Apple makes plastic, it's amazing, if Samsung does, it's cheap.
And no I'm not a Samsung fanboy, I have both a 5s and a Note3, both which are amazing phones.

There's no plastic case that looks like that. If there's, link me and I'll buy one.

this is most likely what the 5 will be. plastic, and rounded.

The 5c is a decent looking phone, but saying it looks and feels more premium than the 5s is lunacy. Thats like saying the 2014 Hyundai sonata (a gorgeous looking car) looks more premium than the 2014 E-Class mercedes. And yes it feels like plastic, and plastic is not premium at all compared to metal.

I think it would have sold much better if (a) it cost at least $50 less and (b) they let you custom order it in any color you want. The current color selection is pretty bleak.
