Before we get started let’s just get it out of the way that I LOVE this phone. However it just isn’t working for me.

It gives me a headache if I use it for more than 10 minutes at a time. FaceiD doesn’t work for me whatsoever. I use a hard hat, safety glasses and sometimes ( like today ) a face mask since it’s 16 degrees outside.

Needed to make an important email out while on sight and phone ( obviously ) didn’t recongise me.

So I tried returning it and going back to my 7 Plus and already passed my return date FML.

I really wish Apple gave this thing TouchiD. It was a bad move removing it. Had it not been for that I’d gladly keep my X.

Now it’s going to sit on my dresser while
I use my 7 Plus again.

And yes I tried to exchange it for an 8 and before I do that I have to pay off at least half of it.

🙁

And Still you found a way to Blame Apple....

Well yeah. Who removed TouchiD ? Wasn’t you or me.

They did it for whatever reason. It’s definitely possible to incorporate TouchiD into this phone. The power button is plenty big enough for it. They didn’t do it because they want us to only use FaceiD which is wrong. There’s phones out there that support both and both work great on 1 device.

You don’t wear gloves at work? Mayb turn off Face ID and passcode while at work....there’s always solutions...

LOL
So you bought a phone...
  • knowing it didn't have Touch ID
  • knowing you would bundle your face and head with hard hat, safety glasses and face mask so Face ID wouldn't recognize you
  • tried to return it after your return date
And Apple is the problem

Of course you could just put in your code, but then you couldn't complain
LOL

But you bought it knowing full well that there's no home button

You didn't consider this when you were deciding to buy the phone?

As for Faceid, just don't use it. Type the code in.

I’m still really on the fence.

FaceID doesn’t work as well as TouchID. I hope functionality improves.

Aspect ratio is just whack. I’d really prefer a 5.4” or 6.2” device that has a 16:9 aspect ratio.

And for an “edge to edge” display there’s an awful lot of bezel.

I’m not in love with it. I wanted to try it because I’m all for trying new things. But this feels like a half-baked product.

and you couldn't figure out in the first 14 days that face ID wouldn't work with a mask on? Sorry man you have nobody to blame here but yourself. Apple released an iPhone 8 and 8 Plus for those who were not ready to move on from touch ID, seems like you fit in that category but still went for the X.... There's only so much Apple could do.

Something has to hold the screen. Even Samsung has a bezel. All of the flagships have strange aspect ratios. I haven’t had many issues with FaceId at least it doesn’t activate Apple Pay or Siri when I try to unlock the phone.

Yeah, I say try and sell it.. will take a loss I’m sure, but what can u do... lessons learned right... I like my 6s+.. I’d go for 8+ if I could afford it, not the X.. I want touchid.. if Apple keeps touchid in next year models, I may upgrade.. but has to have TouchID.. Like OP says, if you vary your appearance too much like that, FaceID is a no go..

You waited all the time to realise Face ID wasn't working, when you had the option to return it? Something doesn't add up. And you knew it had no Touch ID.

Personally I am glad they did. Don't need countless of stuff that do same thing.

Apple released an iPhone 8 that still has Touch ID. I dont mean to come off as a jerk, but its your fault you didn't pay attention to the return period.

Personally, I’m glad that I returned mine before the return period passed. If Apple was smart enough and caring enough they would offer both the Face ID and the touch ID as Samsung has done. Options are a good thing for us consumers. Those that do not want these options will say so openly until the day it happens that Face ID does not work for them. Next year as I understand it, Apple wall offer both an OLED screen and LCD screen, which in my opinion is smart. Now I hope they will understand they should give us more options with security as well.

Certainly weren’t obliged to buy the phone. You had two weeks to try it out.

Yeah, I'd assume some safety gloves that wouldn't allow for TID to work either, so using a device requires some extra steps. Otherwise, how about Siri? Pull the mask away for a second? Enter a code? Disable auth while at work?

At any rate, the OP can easily sell it, and probably not even take much of a loss.

“Waiter! I’d like to send my entree back to the kitchen and exchange it for something else. I don’t like stuffing and I hate green peppers.”

“But sir, you ordered the stuffed green pepper. And you finished the entire thing, and you’re already halfway through your dessert.”

“But why did you have to make it with a green pepper? And why did you put stuffing in it?”

How can you LOVE something that gives you a headache every 10 minutes of using it? The term love gets thrown around alot like dirty socks.

I don't truly love any of my phones. An inanimate object won't love me back. You will only "love" it until your next one which will be better and faster. Old smartphones are like dirty socks.

You executed a plan of action poorly:

-You bought a device knowing it had FaceID and not touchID and then complained about it

-You decided the device wasn't for you but you didn't keep track of the latest date you could return it, and then were denied a return

Plan more next time to avoid problems.
