So the girls stopped coming around, eh? Sorry, had to rib you there...

Sounds like you work in construction or around heavy machinery. You’re not alone. There were similar use cases brought up by doctors/surgeons. Not sure of all outcomes, but one did return because the X wasn’t working out for them due to the masks and special eyewear. It is what is. Paying for the major feature of the X and having to completely disable it most times just means I should not have the X when other options are available.

With the headaches you’re experiencing there’s just no way I can see you getting used to using the phone over time... really you shouldn’t have to. Get used to headaches... ha, no. I take glasses back for the same reason. You’re not forcing me into a stronger prescription, doc, sorry. In the future, don’t make concessions (using less than 10 minutes at a time) or force something that’s affecting your health like that.

You can sell the phone and eat the difference to pay it off. That may come out better than trading it in.

I’d also write to Apple and provide feedback on your experience with headaches with the OLED display. You’re not the only one who has had this experience. Regardless of how many people are experiencing it in the total pool of owners, it’s a health affecting issue they should be made aware of. Hopefully the rumor of next year’s releases including a bezeless LCD display hold true. It will gave those affected by the OLED display an option to have the latest tech features and form factor without the headaches.

I really wish Apple gave this thing TouchiD. It was a bad move removing it.
🙁

Beginning to sound like it.

Wasn't that unusual for a decent percentage of iWatch's to end up tossed into a bedside drawer, but tossing a fresh iPhone into a drawer is an all new thing.

Can you have more than one Face ID? Like adding a fingerprint, add a face with hat/helmet/protective glasses?

I get oled headaches as well. But time marches on with technology and today’s oled will be yesteryears technology.

Ditto on the headache thing. I hated returning the phone but I had to.

It is your fault for not returning it on time, just sell it.

To this guy's defense, Apple's return policy is super stingy. 14 days is all you get. With a few exceptions, 30 days seems to be standard in the industry, so Apple's policy here is pretty crappy.

Not really, if you explain the situation they do try and help you past 14 days

Relying on exceptions isn't a policy. Hoping to get an Apple employee that is in a good mood and willing to make an exception isn't good enough. Apple should have a proper 30 day return policy, no questions asked, like most consumer electronics retailers.

Don't get me wrong, I love Apple. However this is one area where they have a policy that is worse than that of their retail competitors.

If you like the phone, then just enter the pin when you have to. It's not that hard. Takes me less than 2 seconds to enter my 6 digit pin.

As others have said, sell it or use a passcode. I'm assuming you weighed this all out before purchasing. For me, Face ID works with hats, sunglasses, and scarves.

Isn't there also some kind of return extension if purchased after a certain date in November (basically a Christmas gift sort of policy).

For a time, I used to enjoy using my HTC One M7. After six months, I started to loathe it. I just kept myself in denial because it was such a beautiful device to look at.

- Purple photos in low light
- Short battery life
- Overheated like crazy
- Charged very slow

By the 20th month, I sold it. I did get another one last March because I missed the design but I barely use it. I only used it temporary for like a couple of weeks. Keeps asking me to update the software which slows it down.

Just admit you are starting to HATE it. The luster wore off. The honeymoon phase is over and it's only been 25 days since release. Like being with a beautiful woman with a terrible personality. You shouldn't love a phone that gives you headaches.

No phone could ever be truly perfect for anyone. No phone can please us all. To some, it's becoming iPhone suX. Better luck next year.

Strange how things vary for people. I haven’t had an issue using FaceID with my hat and glasses on. I can’t remember if I had to use a passcode the first few times so it could learn me. I haven’t tried it with a face shield yet because I don’t use them very often.

I hope not sending that email didn't cost you anything. Dang. If only there was a way to get into the phone without FaceID, like a passcode or something.

Mike

"Oh my god I must send this important email out in the next five minutes or we could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars!"

*hold up iphone to face, doesn't unlock/recognize and remains locked. Puts phone back in pocket sadly.

"Damn, missed out on this sale"

Not so fast, oled is king and will be toppled by better technologies. I welcome a full size lcd model. Can’t wait.
Your only hope is MicroLED and with all its brightness issues you will have to wait till 2022 and even if that project becomes feasible for Apple, Samsung would have refined oled technology 10x of what it is now.

Samsung is king in displays. Apple in soc.

So it seems you are in for a fix. If oled is giving you guys headaches, you just won't be able to tolerate Apple;s flagships from hereon in. You will have to get the mid range phones, sorry to say.

Sell it to a Brazilian. 😉 It's going to cost over two grand for them.

I was never really 100% sold with the iPhone X because of how awful iOS11 seems to be but I still liked the hardware. After looking at this thread below, maybe not anymore...

^ The silver X is the only color I like that looks premium to me but seeing those photos made it such a turn off. Boner shrinker! The silver banding scratches easily like the iPod rears.

Face ID is great for me but it doesn’t work when I’m wearing sunglasses but i just put them on my forehead and Tadaa!

Samsung won’t be reigning long in display technology. Lcd will live on longer than you believe. Microled or equivalent will make oled look like last years color vga crt. That’s my opinion.
