I never thought I would see the day, in all of my 40+ years where artist went out of there way to not get their music heard.

If I had something to sell, I would want any channel possible to sell it, why would I limit the possibilities? Does not make any business sense!

Possible reasons could be cannibalization of more profitable sales or in his case perhaps he expects a better return on the valuation of his stake in Tidal by driving more subscribers than the direct impact of sales of his album. It's possible there are legitimate reasons to limit distribution.

then it'll never be heard.

and he'll still love fishsticks.

In all honesty I like Tidal more than Apple Music so I subscribed to it.

At the end of the day, both give you basically the same thing for the same price. The presentation is what set them apart for me.

For the Kanye album. IMHO, there were only two good songs on it. As with Adele and her choice though for album release. Their music, their choice.

I would say that a service like Apple Music / Tidal /Spotify / (WhateverNext) will not succeed / fail because of 1 artist only (no matter how good / bad it is).

If i was 53 million in debt (wich probably is cause of his way of dealing with sales) I would concentrate on getting some money no matter how, if that means i get to pay my debt and i Have to close Tidal (or leave) as long as the outcome is positive i'd go for it.

Of course I am not 53 million in debt, I might be doing something right but what do i know!!!!

Don't worry, Mr. Kanye, I'm not interested in apple music anyway.

I don't listen to Kanye West but after this article I might just torrent his new album out of spite. The arrogant artists should always keep in mind that anyone can get their latest album for nothing if they so choose.

First time I hear about "Tidal" Kanye sucks and I am sure Tidal sucks too!

Stay away from Apple Kanye we don't want you

Anybody else heard that he might run for president in 2020 LMAO

I have sincerely never wanted to see an entertainer crash and burn the way I want to see Kanye crash and burn. Arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand.

He is seriously starting to come across like Charlie Sheen was a few years ago. Waiting for the drug allegations to surface, and just wait....given enough time there will be a divorce. You think he's mouthy now...just wait for the big D to happen. Almost every single time a celebrity couple over-professes their love publicly and won't stop talking about it.....the eventual result is divorce. Just ask Tom Cruise and the multiple wives he kept in basements over the years with non-disclosure agreements.

You're entitled to your opinion... mine is that "rap" is a far cry from "music".

Agreed, Rap can certainly be defined as a form of entertainment, actually calling it music is a stretch. It should be classified as a form of poetry set to some type of background that is not necessarily music based.

Didn't I just read online that he's $55 million in debt? To each his own. Apple Music isn't going away any time soon. IF I was a purveyor of his music and HAD to have it, I'd rather buy the CD, rip it and put it in iTunes than to get a membership in a Zune-esque venture. Believe your dream, Kanye. Glad I'm not living in that lucid dream world.

Phew, thanks Kanye, now I don't need to worry about an accidental download when my kid is playing with my phone.
