What would Apple want with tidal, other than to kill it. It's dying on its own. Just let it die.
The almighty contract; makes sense. Thanks for the clarification, bbeagle! When you buy a company, you buy all the contracts that it has, and they all become yours.
Example: Say Beyoncé was exclusive on Tidal, and had an exclusive deal through 2021, then Apple buying Tidal would mean Apple has an exclusive with Beyoncé until 2021.
Of course, some contracts might say they are void when a company is sold, this makes buying the company less valuable. If Jay Z as a founder, doesn't have a contract, then this is negotiated on he sale.
Interesting quote to reply to. And you misunderstood, Kim Kardashian was unknown before the sex tape. She rode the notoriety gained there to a fortune through a plethora of other business deals. But it all started with a sex tape. From sex tape to a fortune. Not fortune from a sex tape.First, if your going to multi-quote someone, maybe consider quoting multiple users in separate threads. Versus, taking a page of merged quotes.
Second, I never said I didn't like the Kanye West/Kardashians. I simply implied their t.v. Show is complete garbage. I think most agree. We all know how they make their money. You mentioned the sex tape made them money. Robert Kardashian is the true reason they are celebrities, being he represented OJ Simpson and his legacy. And let's not forget the Kris Humphries scandal where Kim called off the engagement, this also helped renew her television show series, which drew lots of
Controversy.
Lastly, Kanye puts himself in these situations where he opens his mouth and doesn't know how to shut it. He makes ludicrous requests for obscene amounts of money and for people to pay his debt. Seriously? Get a job at McDonald's and get real. No one in their right mind would defend him. He speaks for himself and look where it's gotten him. Exactly.
Jobs had nothing like the pressure cook has to deal with. Jobs wasn't always successful. Jobs had many failed products. Jobs didn't bring innovation every year. Jobs used to announce brand new macs with hardly anything but a minor bump in speed. Cook practically ran the company for most of the years it was successful. Jobs is the one that got apple into stupid, waste of time law suits or in trouble with the doj.
Apple have made more money with cook as leader than jobs. Yes they miss a obstinate, difficult sole visionary but so does everyone else! There aren't that many in this world and most of them can't actually run companies even if they are technically geniuses. There's probably been 4 in the last 40 yrs that could be as good at business as well as a product visionary, and none could touch jobs for design taste.
So getting rid of cook will not solve the "perceived" problem you have that Steve is dead. It's over. Apple is like Sony, or Panasonic, it's just another company now. Decisions are by committee now, that's just how it is. I can't be any other way.
Some of us hang onto hope that someone will come through a jobs v2.0, but let's face it, it will not happen, and apple like you said, has become just another huge company, with an established product line up.
Though we cannot forget that apple got to where they are today , not cause jobs was a great leader or made the right decisions running the company, it's cause he made the right decision and had vision to create the products
I'm very aware apple is now like Sony , I've said it many times. And like Sony they will stagnate in time and be out innovated by the competition.

In a series of tweets sent out this afternoon, musician Kanye West claimed that the schism between Apple Music and rival streaming music service Tidal is negatively affecting the music industry as a whole.![]()
West is one of the artists closely aligned with Tidal, who's also one of its co-owners, along with the likes of Jay Z, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Jack White, and others.
In three subsequent tweets, West suggested that Apple CEO Tim Cook and Jay Z, along with a few other executives at Tidal and Apple, get "on the phone or in a room" within the coming week to discuss a partnership between the two services. It's unclear if West's language is corroborating that talks between Apple and Tidal have in fact been ongoing over the last few weeks, or if he's simply suggesting the idea based off of those reports from earlier in the summer.
In the last tweet, West tells Apple to "give Jay his check now and stop trying to act like you Steve," potentially hinting that Apple is trying out its "hard-nosed" negotiating tactics again, which was recently reported to be causing the company trouble in the television market. If the two managed to agree on a deal, Tidal's purchase could bring Apple a roster of new and exclusive artists, possibly helping the Cupertino company realize its aim for content that puts it in line with "MTV in its 80s and 90s heyday."
Earlier in the year, Kanye was adamant that his new album The Life of Pablo would "never" be made available on Apple Music, opting to keep it as an exclusive on Tidal, but eventually the album did launch on Apple's streaming music service. Rough patches like this have left many to wonder if any deal can be reached between the two rival streaming platforms, so it's interesting to see that one musician so close to the drama unfolding appears to be in favor of ending the apparent feud and letting "the kids have the music."

People are free to like and dislike public figures.
in general i think snarky remarks of this type are childish and silly, but I did look up Sam Cooke and listened to some wonderful music. Also, I'd argue Kanye is producer first, and that's the area he really excels at anyway.Kanye "Jackass" West is a vocalist. Sam Cooke was a singer.
Now we know why you aren't using Apple Music. Taylor Swift does have more beefs with people. Every other week I learn about her hating someone or lying about something that she cosines on beforehand.I love Apple products - but there's a special place in hell for bullies. Not only does Tidal suck - but I wouldn't want to buy a product that supports bullying from a con-"artist". Not cool.
I see 90% of posters here read the story's title only before going on the cyber bullying defence....
Pity, they would realise this is actually a big thing considering the huge international megastars Apple is playing with directly here... They will need to be careful in what they do next. And it does seem they've been using their hard nosed tactics again. When will they learn?
Will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

Canine west has a lot in common with 50 cent. Its just a matter of time until he pulls a stunt the same way 50 did.canine west has a way, way over inflated opinion of his importance in this world.
I don't see what would be the point of Apple paying big money for Tidal when Kanye himself already had to bow to their power by offering his latest album on Apple Music. Tidal has a very weak bargaining position.
Also, there are so many good artists in the US just looking for a chance to be heard; I'm so tired of hearing from the same old people over and over again. If the Tidal people are too greedy then Apple should use their platform to make new people famous instead.
That's not the point. This Kanye circle jerk is bordering religion. It's not healthy anymore. I don't like plenty of artist and I won't type in the manner this thread is turning into. It looks like a cesspool youtube comment section.

this would actually be a GOOD thing... since Tim's management of Apple, I've grown to hate the company more and more for the distorted elitist and wannabe hipster image they've been pumping people with for so long. In the era of Jobs, there was the Family commercials Apple made that were really good, family oriented products, honest school products, an attempt to improve education through technology, now, all I see are overpriced out of date weak machines with next to nothing to offer in the world of computing. Sure MacOS is a great platform but honestly I think MacOS 10.5 was the last really good OS or was that 10.6? It's gone downhill since, same goes for the iOS, it's been tweaked to serve the farm not the people. We'll see if Tim Cook is stupid enough to join Kanya West in any deal, let alone a meeting.
This may be the the final straw that gets Cook thrown out as CEO
