I don't care who the artist are that start the fight. But truth be told, very few would buy smart phones, multimedia laptops or smart tv's, especially broad band connections, without content, but we who make content are supposed to make money by other jobs... **** Apple and the rest of the technology companies...

One million plays in a streaming service, generate about 1000 USD's. Enough to master half a song.

We all need our money back, from a decade of so of piracy (making telecom companies rich) and technology companies delusional.

And if Apple had monopoly, it would be really bad. Since I don't want one company to rule the whole music industry. But it doesn't mean I don't use AM. Glad to use it on my S7.

Apple already has a monopoly in certain areas.

The difference is, Apple is not as greedy as Google and other companies in terms of making their users suffer.

Isn't it about time for Kanye to find a real job? Twitter Twit isn't working out so well. Zuckerberg said no. Cuban said no. I'm pretty sure Apple and Cook are saying "no no no" to this, but in a letter like the grown ups do it.

I think Prince will come to Apple Music once Prince's will/estate situation is resolved. The heirs will want to make $$$ and they aren't going to be picky who they license his music to.
[doublepost=1469946287][/doublepost]

The tactic Tidal is using is the same one the cable channel owners used against Apple earlier this week with regards to the Apple TV streaming service. Tidal believes, like the cable channel owners, if they take their negotiations public they will be able to publicly embarrass Apple and pressure them to agree to their terms. But they forget Apple is the one in the position of power and Apple can wait it out until they concede to their terms. They need Apple, Apple doesn't need them.
Except Apple has made the stupid mistake of being 'just another content delivery company' without much special to separate it from the rest. They're really not much better than Spotify, Beats streaming, etc. etc. etc.

When iTunes came out, it was a huge improvement over everything else out there. But Apple Music....? It's a desperate, pathetic attempt to be trendy and fashionable.

Why on earth would the record labels and media companies agree to harsh terms with Apple that they would laugh at if it were anyone else? Especially when what Apple is offering is........basically exactly what everyone else is already offering.

Apple should really leave these negotiations right now and come back when they actually have something interesting to offer.

If I were still an AAPL shareholder.....I'd be furious at how Apple is wasting so much money on pointless acquisitions while Google is making all the smart moves.

What the hell is with celebrities using Twitter for what should be "serious" discussions ? You see them get involved in "fights" like teenage girls over Twitter too....

Such a douche. His rants remind me of the spam emails in my junk folder, "Good day to you kind sir, my name is ..."

How Kim puts up with it, I'll never know.

Because she's just as much of a moron as he is. Overrated nude selfies is her best-known contribution to society. His contribution is...being stupid.

Thanks, did not know some of these fun facts. :) And yes I love when an artists can actually play an instrument. Lady Gaga is great. I really really love Prince. He was a master of guitar and piano and even played drums and bass pretty decently. Or David Stuart, one half of Eurythmics, wastly underrated. Love those people. Blows my mind how to be great at so many instruments as I struggle to master the guitar. :)

Lady Gaga is actually very talented. The best music artists to me write their own music. She writes music, plays piano, and great vocals. Listen to her on Howard Stern. She's very bright. I enjoy seeing her win Grammys with Tony Bennett. Wish for more Stefani, less Gaga. But that persona sells better for her.

canine west has a way, way over inflated opinion of his importance in this world.
We are talking about him and he doesn't know we exist so....
[doublepost=1470000437][/doublepost]Kanye is right about one thing tho. These stupid battles of the music services are kind of cheeseball tbqh... Just give me the music.

Apparently Apple wanting to buy Tidal counts as having a "beef"?

They're basically bailing out the founders of a failing company at this point.

Really? I can't escape the **** this guy comes out with even on the frontpage of macrumours?

I will have you know Kanye West is extremely important and deserves to be front page of anything. (Of course I'm joking, The joke is on Kanye, but he wouldn't get it though. )

Kanye, the Kardashians, the Jenners, China Black (whoever that is), the basketball dude who likes dope and whorehouses...
Should all be given a one-way ticket to Raqqa, Syria.
It's worth it if it would stop their ceaseless polluting of the internet.
These media whores are everywhere, all the time, on the 'net and TV.
I still don't know why exactly, they're "famous"?

You're absolutely correct and fully agree. To answer your question though, it's our fault we keep lapping up everything they say, do or sneeze. While I detest them all, I do recognise it's society's fault for giving them so much attention and money, not theirs for exploiting it. When we all stop caring whenever Kim farts, she'll disappear into irrelevance. Unfortunately...........

What I find interesting with this tactic, is that Tidal attempts to acquire exclusive talent on the basis of offering higher payouts to the artists.

I highly doubt apple will pay more than it does and by publicly announcing that your company desires to be bought out, I would think that would make it harder to attract exclusives going forward.

If I'm an artist how comfortable am I supposed to be that tidal will be a viable entity in the future, while also excluding myself from the larger services?
It took this thread 37 comments for someone to say something insightful.

It's hard to believe Kim Kardashians net worth based off of a television show which is complete garbage. This is one screwed up world we live in.
The family knows how to market themselves and the matriarch is an extremely smart business woman. Even if the business is trash reality shows and appearances; they took a sex tape to fortune. Dislike them all you want, but the reality is they aren't as stupid as the public thinks.

Yet, you made it just in time for this post.

Kanye has talent. Bad rapper. Excellent producer. Kinda like Dr. Dre but Dre is superior. Nice sampling. Paul McCartney worked with him, so he must have some talent. He is also a very good artist in drawing. Kanye actually listens to alot of different genres.
But he makes rap music, so 99% of the people in this community will call him talentless. Huge ego, annoying persona, but very talented indeed.

Kanye wants a payday after his music cartel failed to work? I think he's actually capable of getting dumber by the day. We need to rid ourselves of infamous people and support talent again. I miss the days when there was at least some curated music with substance in the popular mainstream.

"give Jay his check now..."

Really?
The theory is, Jay Z bought Tidal, signed a bunch of big name exclusive musicians, in the hopes that Apple would buy the company out.

The problem with celebrity (or brand) worship is some supporters think they will die as saints and can do no wrong. They won't. They make mistakes just like any of us. Everyone from Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, and Eminem were arrogant. Kanye is no exception.

Separate the body of work and talent from the personality and personal life. People thought Michael Jackson was a gay pedophile. Okay, I still enjoy his music as an artist. People thought Whitney Houston deserved to die because she was some crack whore. Okay, I still listen to her music. Freddie Mercury was gay and died of AIDS. Okay, I still love Queen. RIP.

When Eminem can act like some white trailer trash who talks about anything on his mind and will disrespect anyone including his mother, some people won't bat an eye and call him talented. When Kanye does it, he sucks or is some stupid thug. SMH. Performance over personal.

My favorite Kanye West song ever

^ Favorite part is in the 4:17 mark between Jamie Fox and Traci Spencer. So much soul. Music video version and radio edit doesn't have this line...

~Sly and the Family Stone~
~Let's get the party on~

Grammy winning, Shirley Bassey sample

I hate Lil Wayne (aka Weezy). But there is this one song that Kanye produced that had a sick beat on it... "Let The Beat Build." Kanye hasn't always been my thing after growing from early 90's hip hop. But I can still respect his music just like J. Co. I got more into 1960's-1980's music by that point.

The Chicago native brought the soul back in hip hop throughout the 2000's. Most modern genres were created by blacks. The white music you listen to is rooted from African slaves singing hymns in cotton fields or churches. Even the guitar is an African instrument.

Jazz was born in Chicago and New Orleans. Kanye brought that soul back. Listen to the horn melody in "Drive Slow", and you know what Kanye is doing. Paying homage to jazz, soul, and funk of yesteryear just like Dr. Dre and DJ Quik did before it in the 90's with G-Funk.

Geniuses aren't normal. Kurt Cobain, love him. Wasn't normal. They never are. Kanye just thinks way out there with his spontaneous tantrums. Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Everyone has an azz too. Some smell worse than others. Get the facts before letting the crap start foaming from your mouth. Stinks to sound like an idiot or Kanye's wife.

Kanye is talentless? Get educated first instead of judging him being a pr*ck, his bizarre beef with Taylor Swift, and being married to the biggest sperm dumpster on TV.

This is extremely insightful, but there are very few people in this community who have the ability to understand and acknowledge any of this. Props, though.

kanya, take yourself and your big a$$ wife and all the rapper race baiters and leave the country!
Case and point.

In a series of tweets sent out this afternoon, musician Kanye West claimed that the schism between Apple Music and rival streaming music service Tidal is negatively affecting the music industry as a whole.

West is one of the artists closely aligned with Tidal, who's also one of its co-owners, along with the likes of Jay Z, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Jack White, and others.

In three subsequent tweets, West suggested that Apple CEO Tim Cook and Jay Z, along with a few other executives at Tidal and Apple, get "on the phone or in a room" within the coming week to discuss a partnership between the two services. It's unclear if West's language is corroborating that talks between Apple and Tidal have in fact been ongoing over the last few weeks, or if he's simply suggesting the idea based off of those reports from earlier in the summer.

In the last tweet, West tells Apple to "give Jay his check now and stop trying to act like you Steve," potentially hinting that Apple is trying out its "hard-nosed" negotiating tactics again, which was recently reported to be causing the company trouble in the television market. If the two managed to agree on a deal, Tidal's purchase could bring Apple a roster of new and exclusive artists, possibly helping the Cupertino company realize its aim for content that puts it in line with "MTV in its 80s and 90s heyday."

Earlier in the year, Kanye was adamant that his new album The Life of Pablo would "never" be made available on Apple Music, opting to keep it as an exclusive on Tidal, but eventually the album did launch on Apple's streaming music service. Rough patches like this have left many to wonder if any deal can be reached between the two rival streaming platforms, so it's interesting to see that one musician so close to the drama unfolding appears to be in favor of ending the apparent feud and letting "the kids have the music."

I love Apple products - but there's a special place in hell for bullies. Not only does Tidal suck - but I wouldn't want to buy a product that supports bullying from a con-"artist". Not cool.

Not sure if this reeks of desperation or simply a PR stunt.
How is Tidal doing financially?
If they're bleeding, they might be had for a song (pardon the pun).
Apple could simply let them die slowly, but Spotify could very well pick up Tidal subscribers.
I suppose it depends on how aggressive Apple wants to get in gaining marketshare.

Kanye is the reason i've been begging Spotify for a ban/block artist button, so i don't ever have to listen to one of his BS songs ever again on a public playlist or spotify radio. And if apple releases this feature first, i'll be saying bye bye to Spotify in less then 2 seconds.

Unfortunately if you listen to rap at all, you are probably listening to something Kanye had his hands into. He _is_ talented. He also comes across in public as crazy, and I have no idea how he has gone broke. Expensive lifestyle I guess.
