Hey everyone, long time reader first time poster here. I hate to start a pointless thread, but I'm having issues deciding what to do for a phone. I camped outside the Apple Store and got a 64GB 6 plus on release day. I loved everything about it except for the fact that it felt super big in my pocket, it seemed heavy (kind of made my wrist sore) and that Otterbox didn't have any cases for it yet.

Last thursday was the end of my 2 week return period and I wasn't totally sure what to do so I exchanged it for a 128GB 6. The 6 is really nice because it feels like my 5s in my pocket, but I really miss the big screen and phenomenal battery life that the 6 plus had. I also bought a Otterbox for it and it feels fine in my pocket.

I am a senior in college and walk about 5 miles a day and sit in class for 3-5 hours per day. I'm used to keeping my phone in my pocket for that whole duration. In the summer I always wear shorts or suits and the 6 plus felt fine in all of those pockets. In the winter I wear mostly dress pants and suits, but when I wear jeans (slim cut) it felt like I had a brick in my pocket.

I've had the 6 for 5 days now and I keep seeing people with the 6, but never the 6 plus. Every time I see someone I think to myself "man I could have kept the 6 plus and been different from everyone else." I just don't know what to do. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Wife did the same thing. She had the plus since the 19th. Exchanged it for the 6 a few days later. Saw me on the porch watching YouTube on my plus and says "I miss that big screen and battery life". Next day she went back and exchanged it for the plus again and couldn't be happier.

Stick with the 6. It's more practical. Don't get a phone just to be different. You don't want to trade convenience for being different. And I can't imagine a 6+ in an otter box. It must be enormous.

All this constant exchanging and swapping is getting ridiculous. The 6 sounds great for you. Just enjoy owning it and there's much better ways to be different than the model of iphone you use.

The adjusting period for a larger sized phone is typically a couple days to a week. If you had the 6 plus for 2 weeks and you decided it was still too big for you, then you've made the right choice by switching to a 6.

Why don't you just get a battery case for your 6 so that you get the longer battery life. I love my 6 because u can operate it with one hand still.

Look at these two:

I bought the 6 Plus... yes it was big but I could handle it. It was, however, just big enough that I had to adjust too many things... how I held the earpiece so I could hear better.. being super careful what pocket I put it in... in the end I was leaning toward returning it because I paid $850 for it and I shouldn't have to change my daily habits to accomodate a new phone.

Upgraded my wife's phone to a 6 last night and after setting it up returned my 6+ this morning and ordered the 6. To each his own but it just felt better for my needs.

And I'm coming from a 4 so anything is better than this thing!

I had the 6 and it was just slightly too big for one handed use so I returned it and was planning on going back to the 5s. Before doing it, I tried my wife's Plus and noticed I held it more like an iPad mini and really preferred it.

Plus, I really liked the bigger screen and resolution with the Plus and now do not think I could go back to the 5 or normal 6 as crazy as that sounds. I really never thought I would prefer the Plus but am dying to find one now!

I can kind of identify. I have purchased some things because I really liked them and some because I wanted to be different. I do better buying what I like rather than what I think I should like. But I do backslide off and on . . .

I had the 6 and now the the 6+. I'm actually becoming a little torn on which to stick with. All one handed use was maintained with the 6 whereas with the + I have had to alter some stuff here and there. Just enough to become a little annoyed, but nothing major. I do love the screen, but mostly love the battery life. I use my phone heavily and the battery life is absolutely amazing and what I have been wanting for so long in an iPhone. Battery life on the 6 is slightly better for me than on the 5s, but not comparable to the 6+ for obvious reasons.

If the 6 had this kind of battery life then I would swap back until Apple compacted the 6+ design a little more with the "s" release. I can live with the lag and other "software" issues for now with the 6+, but I'm still a little tempted to move back to the 6.

The fact you are questioning tells me that deep down you want the 6 plus but are looking for others to tell you that you should get it again. I have both, the only downside is the fact i wear skinny jeans and it isnt as comfy as the 6 is in pocket however the pros outweigh that one negative infinitely for me. I prefer my 6plus to my 6 mainly for battery life and screen size. I think youll regret not going back and getting one. Theyre both great phones, i suggest you write down the pros and cons for each and it will become clear. Just my 2 cents but im sure everyone will have a different answer

Ps. I am 6,2 and can operate the 6+ with one hand

Keep the 6 or go back to the 6 Plus??

Thanks for all of the replies! I have 9 days left to return my 6 so I guess I have some time to think about things.

If I did use an Otterbox on the 6+ it definitely would be huge! It's just such a tough decision of what I should do.

I definitely miss the 6 plus but I love the portability of the 6. I think I'm going to make a list of pros and cons of each phone tonight. I have an exam tomorrow so I feel like making a list would be a great "study break" haha. Thanks!

I'm in the same situation as you OP. I'm most likely staying with the 6 because of the portability factor. Good luck!

I switched to the 6+ for 4 reasons:

Battery life, battery life, battery life, battery life!

I'm doing the back and forth now myself. Haven't purchased yet, just played around with them at the Apple Store. The 6 feels a little too small to me. I guess it doesn't give me quite enough reason to want to upgrade from my trusty old Galaxy S3. The 6 Plus on the other hand, offers a tried and true upgrade experience, though, maybe a little too much of it. Just wish those bezels were tamed a bit and they could have created a much more manageable device. I may just go for it. I have a feeling I'll adjust in due time. Then hopefully they will do some bezel shrinkage on the 7 and it'll be time to upgrade again anyway.

Its a tough decision, do you want the larger phone which presents its own set of issues and advantages, or something more pocketable.

To just "be different than everybody else" is a poor reason to go for the Plus.

Had a Plus for a week, was just too large for my needs, and didn't have a good storage spot for it on my bicycle. Switched to a 6 and don't regret it for a second.

With all your walking and sitting in class I would want portability.
If you don't carry it in your pocket due to size then I feel you start to lose the versatility of the phone and it becomes a tablet.

You could throw it in your backpack but what a pain if someone calls/texts.

That's what I'm thinking. A lot of people said they switched to the 6 and we're happy with it. I keep questioning if it was right and missing the beautiful screen/battery life. I know that the 6 is going to be easier to put in my pocket, but I keep thinking about the 6 plus. My thinking about the 6 plus tells me that I'm missing it I think.

I got both the 6 and 6 Plus right now. Every time I pull out the 6 out of my pocket I can just use it like a regular iPhone. Every time I pull the 6 Plus out of my pocket I instantly notice the inconvenience and have to think about working around it; like trying to focus while taking a picture in one hand. IMO keep the 6.

I agree it's interesting that you never see anyone with a 6 Plus IRL but that's probably for good reason.
