I also experienced a kernel panic this week after upgrading to HS, the first I have seen on either a MacBook Pro 1TB 2016 or 2TB 2017, but mine was a type 14=page fault, which reportedly is due to a memory issue.

The error report states:

Kernel Extensions in backtrace:
com.apple.kext.AMDRadeonX4150(1.6)

Anyone else experience one of these?

no solution for this. the only option was either using time machine downgrade or put MacBook to never sleep by using a terminal.

I've also run into this, it seems to be happening on a nightly basis with my iMac running 10.13.3 (27inch, late 2013) and started after I switched to High Sierra. I have a suspicion it has to do with my HDMI-Thunderbolt 2 adapter (which is not one of the ones listed on Apple's site). I'm switching to the VGA + my Apple VGA adapter to see if that addresses it.

Mbp 13” TB 2016 upgraded 2 weeks ago. I’m keep it sleep for 14 days never have sleep wake failure. Probably is the machine not compatible with HS

EDIT: and, 10 minutes after posting this, an incoming text message crashed my macbook; kernel panic, and a reboot....

Late 2013 iMac having the same issue. Asleep for a while, and come back to find it shutdown due to this problem.

Ever since i upgraded to HighSierra I have noticed issues. Is there commonality here with people using a second monitor? I find that often when I wake the system up, the second monitor doesnt wake properly, sometimes going to fuzz, sometimes to a purple hue.

Is this issue somehow related to having the second monitor in a thunderbolt to hdmi adapter?

I have been having this for weeks now. Apple support didn't help. restarted mvRAM or whatever thats called and reinstalled HS. This is rediculous that is has been going on since october (as for this thread)

outside of a continuing issue with messages on my mac, have had no other issues (no kernel panics on the current beta either). at least, looks promising (for the impending 10.13.4...)

Getting the same issue on my MBP13" TouchBar. Every morning when waking from sleep, it's kernel panicked. Sometimes it'll crash after just leaving it sleeping on my table for a few minutes.

Notice no non-Apple kernel extensions at all.

Happens regardless if I have plugged in accessories or not; and most often only when on power, but sometimes even when I'm not.

I have two partitions on this machine: 10.12 and 10.13 (completely separate with encryption). The 10.12 one is fine, the 10.13 one crashes. So it's definitely a software thing.

by way of follow up:

The issue seems to involve waking from sleep as preventing the Mac from sleeping seems to solve the issue. Ticking "put hard disk to sleep when possible" doesn't cause a kernel panic, at least so far. Allowing the display to sleep is also fine.

Sorry for the bump but I just wanted to give an updating saving I've upgraded to the Mojave beta and this kernel panic is still occurring with that version of macOS as well. This is extremely disappointing.

If you're having the "UPSB: thunderbolt power on failed 0xffffffff" kernel panic, one thing suggested in the discussions.apple.com site is to do a SMC reset (which was not suggested in this thread).

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

But if you're running Mojave beta, who knows if it's the same problem or something different.

It wasn't recommended in this thread but it is suggested in a bunch of other threads out there on this issue. Doesn't resolve the issue.

still having this issue after reporting it more times than I can count. How has there been no solution to this? It has been happening to me for about a year, which is ridiculous. It happens whenever the computer sleeps or if I plug something into one of the four USB c ports. I have a 2016 15 inch MBP with 10.13.6.

Maybe make an appointment with an Apple Genius at the Apple Store and review your problem with them. I would print out this thread for their information. The Apple Genius has tools that might help diagnose and maybe resolve the problem.

Unbelievable logic. I can't use my display anymore because Morjave is causing kernel panic when thunderbolt 2 bridge to 3 is connected with a 5k LG display. zero results after hours of apple support. waiting for update and hoping to stop hating aples.

The problem appears to be that some dust in the Macbook pro causing the kernel panic. After using a vacuum cleaner, the kernel panic disappears.

are you also having problems with time machine?

I would like to post here and say that a year later basically after 5 different repairs, Apple support gave me a brand new 2018 model I. Replacement of my 2016. No issues on Mojave now. So it must of been bad hardware. I encourage everyone who sees this to print out the thread and ask a senior advisor.
