Keurig fan or no, somehow your situation there must be criminal. :D

I don’t know how to use the Miele and the Microcasa is too much work. Plus I like it CLEAN! The Keurig is convenient. And I think most of my tastebuds are on life support so they don’t know good from bad flavors anyway.

When I was drinking coffee, I could tolerate a Keurig only when it was the only option. Now maybe it was the coffee that was available, but in my experience it could in no way match a cup of coffee brewed with a drip coffee maker.

Kim not sure you can buy Keurig machines here in the UK. Are they better than Nespresso machines?

it seems to me the environment can do without those small plastic containers.
and conventional coffee grinds can be reused for fertilizer and cat deterrent when whiskers wants to eat plant soil.

Absolutely agree.

my cousin, a gourmet chef, praises french press coffee.

French press coffee (or using a Hario dripper with a paper filter) are almost idiot proof ways to make delicious coffee.

that is why i have a krups
and spilled a fresh, full second cup over my ihome keyboard, mighty apple mouse and desktop top and floor yesterday morning.
the keyboard won't type, the mouse needs more care and i'm an idiot without the second cup.
at the end of the day, that mini stays next to the TV, the macbook air gets to do my all of my misspellings and photo importing, exporting from now on. no replacement keyboard of me!

Buy a thin, silicon type keyboard cover which may save you during the next spill. :)

There are lots of companies online that ship coffee. You may also have a local roaster you don't know about?

Yeah, heck, in our little city we have at least 4 places that have whole from "in house" roast or very freshly sourced from local-ish suppliers (in fact, just scored some of the latter on the way home this morning) - and while it may not be as fresh as the aforementioned, our local Publix always has stock of whole bean Peets, Starbuck and their own very solid organic brand.

There are compostable k-cups out there. There are some available on Amazon. Lucky's Market (CO based chain, now owned by Kroger, not the other Lucky's) house brand are compostable.

but in my experience [k-cups] could in no way match a cup of coffee brewed with a drip coffee maker.

Not a fan of them either. Used them at work where we had a machine in the break room. Most the brands taste the same to me. However, I've found that the Whole Foods cups are palatable, as well as Costco's Pacific Bold cups.

funny:
during those early 1980 the columbia coffee admen has a mascot named Juan Valdez who hand selected ONLY the finest coffee beans. i can picture him today roaming these 4 coffee shops with his donkey assuring customers of the highest quality in their cup.

since I'm an earth and environmental stickler, i shamefully had to drop a fedex bag full of these messpresso® coffee containers into a box were a truck had to deliver them to the shipping yard. that was such a sad day for me......
just the whole driving things around bothers me.

For the love of French Press I’ve had one or more forever. A goldy beautiful thing now.
But only use it in between espresso machines or during repairs, these days.

I’d say go for a real machine. Some investment, but huge difference in how espresso or various coffe drinks taste. I never go back to something cheaper. There are many price classes to grow and evolve in.
My 1st wasn’t fancy. Half-manual kind of.
But I don’t like pods, never had any of those machines either.
Espresso machines for real beans is the only option for good coffees.

Oh yeah, I know Juan, he retired right here in St. Augustine :D

Really? Our machine is over 4 years old and we've never had a problem.

We had a 2nd Keurig up in the bedroom, a little single serving (so fill-per-cup) in red, got it when I setup a little mini "kitchen", coffee, a small fridge and microwave (for when the wife was pregnant :)).

Anyway ... that was 10 years ago, it still works AFAIK, it worked for at least 7 years, maybe 8, currently in storage.

really the only thing the Keurig provides is incredible convenience.
Convenience is a huge factor in why my wife & I got a Keurig.
Oh, stop it! I love coffee! I drink too much. Probably the best I have had is from my buddie's expresso pot. He knows how to make it. But here is the weird thing. I've had all kinds of coffee. But I really like McDonald's coffee. I just like it. For a simple cup of regular coffee, McDonald's is my preference. Since it's a dollar for a 55 gallon drum of it, my coffee life couldn't be any better. McDonald's coffee is God's elixir. The people that serve it to me are angels from heaven.
My neighbor swears by McDonald's coffee.
I have several Keurig coffee makers. They will make a decent cup of coffee. You are able to use many different kinds of coffee and can change up with each cup. Newer Keurig coffee makers can make a cup or a carafe. But when I want an awesome cup of coffee... I break out the scale, burr grinder, stop watch, and French Press.

*Tip* There's a hack out there on YouTube that with one wire snip, you unlock the full menu of your Keurig 2.0 and can choose anything you want when brewing rather than the limitations of the pod you put in.
You mean my Keurig knows what I put in it? Do you have a link to the video you will share?

One of the Captains I fly with lives near a place that has great coffee. He brought me some and if it were more convenient than a Keurig I'd buy some.
