To sell to a brand-conscious audience for more money? So these are going to be Apple branded headphones and not Beats? What exactly is the purpose of Apple developing its own audio accessories separate from Beats?![]()

You guys forgot the most obvious one still: iCansHeadPods....how could you miss HeadPods!
These are all leaving a lot to be desired.Name ideas:

$400"High-end" means what, exactly? I guess we'll find out![]()
Everyone who knows Apple knew it was coming.Called it.
(Would gladly post links to a few posts I created on this very subject when Apple first announced its acquisition of Beats. If anyone knows how to search old posts on this site, do tell. Thanks.)
Apple can truly revolutionize this space, and I believe they have he potential to do so. If I manufactured headphones right now I would be very scared.
do airpods?Whats a hinge price?
And too bad over the ears headphones never stay on my head
Because beats is a strong brand that non Apple fans can relate to.Obvious move after AirPods and HomePod. But what I don’t get is, why haven’t they just rebranded Beats?
MaxiPods! HahahahahaName ideas:

I wonder if they will have a proprietary Bluetooth connection what works only with iPhones, Macs and Homepods?![]()
So Apple is admitting a decent size of their install base wouldn’t purchase anything under the Beats brand. So that just makes me go back to why the heck did Apple buy Beats in the first place. To sell to a brand-conscious audience for more money?
It means they will sound popular, which right now means emphasized bass and muddy highs. They will probably contain internal compression to make them sound louder and will automatically turn off after 30 minutes and stay off for 30 minutes to protect the users (children) ears. They will contain a bunch of internal processing to make them the top of the line, justifying the big bucks Apple will charge, but that will screw up the phasing between frequency bands. No one will care because the youths are not experienced enough to notice and they will be bought by millions.

Apple does not have a bluetooth that works reliably with anything, so it won't matter that it is not proprietary.
Yet Audiophiles love the sound quality out of the HomePod and they only cost almost 400$
I would be absolutely shocked if these could hold a candle to my audio technica ath m50x’s. And of course, we cant forget that they would presumably cost twice as much, too.

Are you serious? My fidelio X2 will run circles around your m50x. Personally I like open back headphones. Recently, mass drop had a collaboration with sennheiser to make their version of the HD650 called HD6XX for just $200. The HD650 were normally running for $500.
I honestly don’t understand how Apple’s product can be called high end if it does not have a way to accept higher quality music sources. Also, I assume it will be Bluetooth only and probably closed back and noise canceling. Which automatically puts it in the realm of the Bose and Sony products that cost approximately $350. There is already a Beats competitor at this price that did not do as well as Sony and Bose in reviews.
Honestly, I don’t consider noise canceling head phones to be high end! Just my 2 cents.
They recently came out with new MacBooks, new iMac, new iMac Pro, and are working on the new Mac Pro. Other than Mac mini, what exactly would you consider "focusing" on the Mac?
Rtings.com is a website that objectively tests frequency response, soundstage, imaging, and loads of other critical criteria that affect sound quality. Here’s there review of the m50x: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/audio-technica/ath-m50x-professional-monitor . Now here’s the highest rated headphone on their site: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/sennheiser/hd-800-s-reference-hd800s . One of those costs $1400 and the other costs $150. According to their review, the sennheisers have worse bass and mid reproduction, and more harmonic distortion than the m50x! Where they win is in soundstage, imaging, and treble. The m50x’s are not just an incredible value, they’re an incredible set of headphones outright.
