No, you dont.
I was referring to physicalyl feeling it... you know... as in vibrating your sternum etc.
No, you dont.

(Would gladly post links to a few posts I created on this very subject when Apple first announced its acquisition of Beats. If anyone knows how to search old posts on this site, do tell. Thanks.)
I think you missed this post I wrote way earlier in the thread, but I think this is what is going to happen and it lines up basically with what you are saying:
"Yep. Except, like I mentioned above, I have a pair of Beats Studio 2's and I really like them. I think they are pretty damn good for the price. I also have AirPods, which I love but obviously the AirPods and Beats Studio's have different use cases.
Apple will definitely market these as "Pro Series" headphones, and they will discount all Beats products and the new Apple "Pro Series" headphones will cost an arm and a leg. They will market them towards audiophiles I bet. I am also sure they will adopt some of the technology from the AirPods, like instead of how Beats have a physical volume up/down button on the left side ear cup, these new "Pro Series" headphones will probably just have tap/touch controls like on the AirPods. They might even have their own special edition W series chip in them or something?"
Now back to this post. Now thinking about it even more they may put an A-Series chip in these like they did with HomePod...now I know that is a bit of a stretch but it could happen. Could help control the tap/touch controls, always on "Hey Siri", and maybe something to do to help play hi-fi audio which I believe if these are "Apple Pro-Series" headphones, they will do. I think iTunes will get hi-fi audio sooner rather than later, especially if these are coming out as a Pro Series.
Obviously all guesses, but it seems like the most logical thing they could do. Why would they make just a "normal" non-pro series headphone? If they did that, then they would just be re-branded Beats regardless of if they have some tech like the AirPods or not. Someone said it would be hard for Apple to switch to hi-fi in iTunes. I personally do think it would be that hard for them at all, they probably have internal versions of iTunes that are running with hi-fi audio that you can purchase and that work with Apple Music.
As I said before, time will tell...but I would like to hear your opinion on what I said here since we seem to be mostly on the same page.

Apple killed off their Wi-Fi router and display departments, haven’t updated the Mac Pro in over four years, and haven’t updated the Mac Mini in over three years.
Why they see headphones as a bigger more important than those four things is odd. But then again, watchbands are a bigger priority to Apple than those four things.

Knowing Apple, it'll probably cost $600, be wireless only, only work with Apple products, and have some kind of Siri invoking feature... so I don't think other manufacturers are shaking in their boots just yet.
No delayed in the sense that when apple do, if ever announce this product. I’m pretty certain that when they said they will be released “such a date”... that it definitely will not actually release then. Just like with AirPods and HomePod. They was given release dates, both in which got delayed. So I’m highly expecting these to also be delayed once apple announce these. I wish apple would only announce products when they are completely ready.Delayed in the sense that it won’t make the timeline an analyst that doesn’t work for Apple has laid out?![]()
I’m not saying apple have. I did read the article. What I am saying that if they do announce this product, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are delayed.Except Apple hasn't announced anything. Read the article.
Yea I agree, I’m aware it’s a rumour. But if becomes true I wouldn’t be surprised if they are delayed, once announced. Just as AirPods and HomePod was.In fairness, it is a rumor. There’s no validity that this will happen, but seems believable. Right now I think Apple’s current focus is the AirPods and how they will expand from there.
Why would they? Mac's are incredibly complicated devices that have tons and tons of moving parts. Headphones are simple pieces that have huge markups and way more purchases.
Sorry what I should have said that if apple “DO” announce this product, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are delayed, with apple’s current track record. How can a rumor get delayed?
Now remember they have to be comfortable and not make your ear cartilage turn into styrofoam.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has issued a new research note outlining his expectations for Apple's "acoustic accessories" pipeline, claiming the company is working on both updated AirPods and "own-brand, high-end over-ear headphones" with an "all-new design." The new over-ear headphones are said to debut in the fourth quarter of this year at the earliest.

Kuo's prediction on upgraded AirPods follows a similar report just a few days ago from Bloomberg. Kuo says the new AirPods should launch in the second half of this year.Beyond this year's update for the AirPods, Bloomberg claimed this week that Apple is working on a subsequent AirPods update that would bring water resistance to the earphones, but that model wouldn't arrive until 2019 at the earliest.

I don't think Apple would go the "pro" route. Just my own gut feelings, but I think they'd rather sell more of these, rather than less. While Pro says, "Yes, these are for you" to one segment of the market, it says "Overpriced/overkill" to another. I don't think Apple needs to reduce the price of Beats. As I noted, I think they'd appeal to different market segments, so head-to-head pricing comparisons won't be a factor. The price/value of Beats is well established, no need to cheapen the brand. The Apple-branded headphones are likely to be marketed for their unique features (hypothetically, integration with the ecosystem) - those features should be able justify a price higher than Beats that lack those features.
Still, Apple's been hitting a value price, rather than premium/luxury price for its recent audio products. AirPods are perceived as a great value when looking at price/performance. Same for HomePod - it may be expensive for a smart speaker, but when compared to not-so-smart speakers it delivers a lot of bang (or bass) for the buck. I don't see why they'd necessarily stray from that approach for headphones. These are supposed to be up-sell items for iPhone, iPad, and Mac - price them too high, and the sale goes to another brand.
interesting to say the least.. I wonder what they will do with beats, and how they will position it against beat headphones. Any chance they will discontinue them? Or just never update them and let them die off like they do with products Tim doesn't want to focus on.... Mac Mini, Mac Pro (cheap shot I know),....
Before Apple bought beats, Beats was heavily advertising, especially with pro athletes. I don't see them doing that anymore since Apple's acquisition. I wonder if their sales are down or if the acquisition was just a bridge to enter a market, and remove a powerful competitor in Apple's quest for world dominance.

Tried it but couldn’t search the posts as they are only sorted by chronological date.If you go to forums, under the subject matter you posted in, you can view/copy posts from years back.
Not neccessarily. As there was and still is a great deal of equity on the books for Beats, many here figured Apple would keep producing Beats products.Everyone who knows Apple knew it was coming.

Tried that, thanks. Have to go through many pages of posts to find it. Eventually gave up.Mag glass > Options > enter your name and search term
Agree, thanks. The MR post search is only ordered by date. Wish I could change the search criteria to “topic” instead. Will try a general Google search. There used to be a good search site devoted to Macrumors, if I recall correctly it was called Mroogle, sadly this doesn't work anymore, it was vastly superior to MR built-in search which is in my opinion horrible.
Yes, indeed. Thank you. It's ok, don't worry about it. It's enough that you pointed out your prescience here.
Lame complaint. Audiophiles are saying that regular $350 bookshelf speakers sound much better than HomePod (which they do). As far as the headphones are concerned you'd better watch that they don't make them Apple Music accessory too (where the only thing you can use it for is listening to Apple Music).I can't wait for more "audiophile" complaints. How dare they call something high end if it doesn't cost more than $10,000
I honestly don’t understand how Apple’s product can be called high end if it does not have a way to accept higher quality music sources.
What's wrong with Beats? They did spend billions on that merger. Might as well just remodel those.

Apple, can you focus little bit more back on Macintosh?
I honestly don’t understand how Apple’s product can be called high end if it does not have a way to accept higher quality music sources. Also, I assume it will be Bluetooth only and probably closed back and noise canceling. Which automatically puts it in the realm of the Bose and Sony products that cost approximately $350. There is already a Beats competitor at this price that did not do as well as Sony and Bose in reviews.
Honestly, I don’t consider noise canceling head phones to be high end! Just my 2 cents.
Lol.... why do you feel the need to validate yourself on an internet forum about consumer electronics?Called it.
