I wasn't doubting you. 5 years ago I would never have bought a Kia or a Hyundai. The only reason I considered a Kia (and ended up buying a late model Sorento) is because it was consistently near the top of the reliability rankings (based on Consumer Reports and other sites).Don't know what to tell you - we've had nothing but problems that kia techs can't even diagnose. I've had so many recalls since 2016 and going to the dealer their service department is packed at opening with little people in the sales floor.
External and internal vehicle design and features are great though but as a functional car.. hell no
My point is that some people will always have poor experiences with some brands and products. Some people have poor experiences with Apple products. However, if we look on average, we get a sense of overall reliability and satisfaction. I'm one of the people who has had poor experiences with Hondas (at least their minivans) although most people do not. You've had poor experiences with Kias although most people do not (at least within the past 6 or so years). I have no brand loyalty to cars and now buy what looks like one of the most reliable cars with the features I want. Long-term will the Kia I have be good? I have no idea but if not, I'll move on to some other car once my warranty runs out years down the road.
