Yes, but using a plate is called inductive charging, not wireless.

You are correct.

And, without wires, it is also... wait for it... wireless! ;)

The original statement was:
You mean like the wireless charging where you basically have to put your device on some plate? I don't consider that wireless and yes, I do consider it a useless feature. I'd rather see true wireless charging.

Inductive charging is the only kind of "wireless" charging, and is indeed "true".

wire·less   [wahy-uhr-lis]
adjective
1. having no wire.
That doesn't change that there is still a physical connection. We all know what we mean with wireless: literally it means without wire, but we expect that you could hold the device in the air without the device having a connection with anything.

And with inductive charging, the RF with suitable power to recharge a battery in something less than several days, can only propagate a few inches at most.

So then, what exactly would "true" wireless charging be?

A way to literally punch people in the face via tapatalk. NFC would be cool too.

Like some sort of magnetic resonance method like fuji was working on. I'm sure there's been tons of ideas though.

While to me it seems impossible it's not beyond belief that somehow someway a device could charge just being in your home/car.

Many many many years away from that though.
