That is sadder than engine failure. Flying low level is always hazardous, power lines, hills. It does make you wonder about the pilot their competence, and what he/she did or did not do.

Although I have no idea if this applies for this case, in one of my Navy squadrons, we used to fly the Admiral around, and once he insisted he be flown on an airplane that was technically broken. I was glad I was not the pilot put into the position of telling him no. This was not during a time of war.
