Not to mention I can see locking my phone after unlocking it if I have to use the power button to unlock my phone

I think the power button on the side of the iPhone actually improved, Apple elongated it where it’s easier to reach with your thumb.

also, as an iPhone SE owner previously, I never had an issue with the power button being on top/inadvertently pushingit. I assume others wouldn’t either, especially if you’re using a case, really shouldn’t be a problem.
Im happy you are happy. However its not just me as just google "accidental screen shots" see what you get for a result im sure there are lots of people this annoys

If this has the DPI of the plus or better, I will purchase immediately.

If not, I'll still refuse to downgrade from my plus phone's screen.

This modern all-screen no home button budget iPhone is what the upcoming SE2 should have been.

Instead of just an internal refresh of an obsolete form factor / screen size like the SE and rumored SE2 was/is.

This is a feature I hope gets scrapped. Face ID is a much better experience IMHO.

Hard to imagine Apple going back to a feature they previously dumped—adding cost, complexity, and redundancy, thereby putting pressure on profit margins. And we all know how Apple will go to extraordinary lengths to protect them.

Face ID is not working well in China or Asia now. People wearing mask to prevent coronavirus and need to risk their lives to expose their faces to unlock the phone.

Well, first off, the masks only prevent people who are INFECTED from expelling droplets of bodily fluids that might infect others. The masks DO NOT prevent a non-infected person from inhaling the virus already in the air. So the scenario you’re describing is not even valid enough to worry about in terms of phone design.

Second, why should phone security systems try to work around every possible facial mask? Welding masks, respirators, football helmets, fighter pilot helmets, Halloween costumes... where does it end? If you cover half your face with an artificial element - suck it up and find another way to unlock your phone. Sheesh.

Is the LCD really good? Almost as good as some OLED phones? The XR proved that not all screens are the same.

You have been fooled that 720p LCD with a terrible contrast is good?
Apples marketing is clearly working on some...

TouchID also isn’t working because it’s cold. People wearing gloves need to risk frostbite in order to unlock their phones.

Technical merits notwithstanding, an iPhone with a tiny notch or even all-screen will look more advanced than the iPhones with big FaceID-notches. Would Apple really allow a low-cost model to outshine the higher end?

It would have make sense if the iPhone 12 smaller variant were 5.5" as well. Now you have "iPhone SE Plus" ( The Plus obviously has the assumption there will be a non Plus issues... which I sort of doubt it )

Instead iPhone 12 is 5.4"?

I use FaceID on a 2018 iPad Pro and it works perfectly. It even works in the dark.
Perhaps you need to re-register your face, and try again.

TouchID doesn't work well if your finger is wet.
Nope.. under screen fingerprint id works perfectly well in my Huawei P30 pro. Wet or not.

I have been using face id for 6 months.. hate it. Why?

1. Whenever you wear mask, it is useless. And in Asia, we wear mask a lot these days. So it is extremely annoying.

2. It won't work when my head is on the pillow.

So, stop saying it is the best. Maybe for some people. But No, not for all. far from it.

That is complete rubbish and unnecessary drama as usual.
You do not need to "Risk your Life" and expose your face to unlock the phone.
Disable touch ID and use passcode/password. End of drama!!

For your information, diseases do spread by touch also, not just by air.

I hope this is real. Personally I think face ID is not the best user experience.

Face ID is much superior to Touch ID. IMO of course.

True but ummm how about the fact that you won't have a case on the phone unless it has a huge hole in the side for your finger? I mean its not terrible on the Pixel with a hole in the back but a hole on the side just seems awkward.

Maybe, but I doubt this is a concern for Apple. Look at the cases they are selling now, with huge cutouts at the bottom that expose the whole lower edge of the phone. If that's an acceptable look to them, then what's one more hole?

I think it would be better to have TouchID under the display instead of putting it on the power button if the goal is to remove the notch.
A lot of people put a case on the phone, for TouchID to work the case would need to have a huge hole on the side to expose the button, but that's only a minor problem. I guess many people still like iPhones with TouchID because the home button is there, but this phone would be similar to iPhone X only missing FaceID, and they won't be able to remove the notch completely, only to reduce it.

I have to say I've not missed TouchID one little bit. FaceID on the phone, combined with Apple Watch for payments is a fantastic setup.

I don't see the issue here? People are saying this and that about the virus and how apple is lagging. Apple doesn't worry about being 1st out of the gate. They weigh options on everything they do before impliment. This to some is considered "lagging" however it's called business. Put something out 1st and likely fail cause humans are creatures of habit, watch somebody else put out, see what like/dont about it, adapt. This is why apple is so successful and long haul they usually take over #1 in what they plan on. I believe in this company and see what they've done/future plans and all in. Apple Long!

going to say something really unpopular here, but perhaps rather than look at integrating a touch sensor into the front screen Apple should just put a touch sensor on the back like they have on literally every Android handset AND retain Face ID on the front. that then allows for user choice when needing to authenticate, either to access the phone or pay for something. seriously why re-invent the wheel?

oh please no!!! 1. i still hate the power button on the side vs the top constantly locking the phone, taking screen shots etc please move the button back idc about a tiny bezel
I take several accidental screenshots everyday. Hate the power button on the side.

I love my LCD iPhone 11. It's perfect. I simply do not like the OLED in the small form factor. 65 inch TV sure, but phone, no thanks.
I'd love OLED for my iPad Pro though. Its rubbish blacks really spoil watching TV in bed.

If Apple can pull it off, technically, it will be a BIG win for them !
It can't really be a win when lots of companies have been doing it for years.

You have been fooled that 720p LCD with a terrible contrast is good?
Ugh, must you refer to resolution that way? It's just a completely irrational way of describing screen resolutions. It tells you nothing without including the size. A 1cm square 720 screen would be excellent, an 80 inch screen at 720 would be terrible. If you're going to spout specs as though they trump actual experience then at least use DPI.

Maybe, but I doubt this is a concern for Apple. Look at the cases they are selling now, with huge cutouts at the bottom that expose the whole lower edge of the phone. If that's an acceptable look to them, then what's one more hole?
Cases ruin phones anyway, it doesn't matter about holes!

edit:
FaceID can never be fast then TouchID, cause if you pick your phone from your pocket and holding it right, it was unlocked before you pulled it out, where with FaceID you still have to look at your screen.

You mix up things, FaceID is faster, you authenticate a second or 2 earlier with TouchId when it's in your pocket, you can't put your head into your pocket.;)

What I actually wish for that there's an option to go directly into the phone without sliding up, for instance, close one eye when authenticating with FaceID would open your phone, with both eyes open it show notifications like it does now.
