I wouldn't expect faceID to go anywhere

but maybe the notch will get reduced.. its an eyesore.

however, having bot Face ID AND TOuchID is a win for us and NOBODY should be complaining about having choice in how they login.

I know with the age of masking that was upon us, FaceID was absolutely horrendously useless.

Under screen touch has been on Android for at least 2 generations now. And the latest flagships it’s perfectly usable. Yet Apple … 2022 ! Face ID and watch combo is usable but it’s not as good as touch.

TouchID is lacking compared to FaceID. iPhone doesn’t need under screen TouchID. Mask mandates are getting lifted (even though some people think it’s going to last forever for some reason). Meanwhile Android manufacturers still haven’t figured out FaceID. Apple has nothing to worry about.

Hiding TouchID under screen would be a cool trick as an additional way of unlocking phone. Love FaceID however and hope it doesn't go away - works so much better compared to TouchID for me. in fact, TouchID was so annoying I disabled it alltogether, cause it was faster just typing PIN then trying to unlock it with fingers (and then usually having to type in PIN anyway 50% of the time).

I don’t see Apple stepping backwards. My guess, the only way this is true is if it’s on a — one more? — generation of the iPhone SE.

I'm surprised more people aren't complaining. Besides motorcyclist, you would think that there are many other people who may need to access their phone while something is covering their face (for example: medical field workers, nail salon workers, torch welders, Muslim women, bank robbers, mascots, Time Square Elmos, people like me that aren't vaccinated and will continue wearing a mask for years to come). People, let your voices be heard!
Good deterrent for getting distracted. 😉

Due to widespread knowledge from mid-2020 that the COVID-19 pandemic would still necessitate mask wearing well into 2022 in much of the world, if the upcoming 2021 iPhones don’t have Touch ID, it will prove, perhaps more than ever before, just what a clueless, non-innovative, MBA suit Tim Cook is.

It’s understandable that Cook didn’t have time to change the 2020 iPhone design in mid-2020 to include Touch ID. But he had plenty of time to change the 2021 design to include Touch ID.
