iPhone showed us that price is not a factor when you have a revolutionary product. The problem is, this isn’t revolutionary.
The iphone had a 33% price cut within 90 days of introduction, and the second model was 66% of the price of the first model. Its easy to forget, but all of the launch comments about a $600 phone when $100-200 phones were the norm were absolutely correct. It took another 5-7 years for people to see the value in a phone costing more than that.

So they've released the first version and charged consumers £3500-£4000, barely released any content for it, and theres now rumours a second version is coming out with updated hardware already?? Sorry what? Talk about hanging their customers out to dry.
The early adopters were supposed to make software for it. The "killer app", that's "your" job. That's why it is named vision PRO. Apple made xcode, their job is done.

Folks of course Apple is listening to feedback. That’s the whole ballgame. Come out with the product and then let the customer provide the direction needed. Apple presented the future now they guide it to what the masses want to get exactly the product they will buy. Simple stuff here. Time. Patience. AVP and Spatial Computing for the mainstream will get there

If Vision Pro is ever going to become mainstream, it will take a few generations. The wiser heads at Apple will know this and will have known it from the start, though obviously they can only be so open about this. The trick is retaining development momentum and faith (maybe 'confidence' is a better word) in the meantime while sales remain low. This device was always set to be a slow burn, with perhaps more pivoting in these first few years than we're used to seeing. So... not a guaranteed success, but also far too early to write it off.

Kuo emphasized that if this new version creates compelling use cases, it could push Apple's spatial computing platform closer to mainstream adoption.

Nothing you strap to your face like ski goggles will ever have "mainstream adoption". It's niche and it will stay niche. I can't find a use a case for owning one, and the couple people I know that own have, more or less, quit using it.

..but they could increase adoption by a smidge if they allowed user accounts instead of making it a single-user device.

He also speculates on the potential integration of advanced AI models, such as text-to-video capabilities similar to OpenAI's Sora, which could dramatically enhance the Vision Pro experience.
I do not understand this line or anything implied.

How would a video generator which could be used on any device specifically improve the visionOS experience? Is anyone here clamoring for that? Would anyone here change your mind on the Vision Pro as a device category over this? I just don’t think an AI slop generator is going to fix any problems with this device category, and the currently announced AI features for iPhone and Mac would only be a marginal improvement.

More power sounds nice, and hopefully the efficiency gains can get the battery life up to at least 3 hours. If this rumor is true, I guess the days of 2nd gen Apple devices blowing the first out of the water are over. There is no iPad 2 or Series 1/2 Apple Watch here.

If this comes to pass this is probably where I will hop on. I’m already nervous about how far behind the current model is slipping. Dated chip, WiFi… it also feels like the current device is a bit of a Macintosh 128k situation, only just barely powerful enough to do what it was made for.

Until they see that an app has a good market share, they will developed their own and your will be kickedoff... But now there are alternatives store ;)

I was close to buying one but then thought that M2 is rather outdated - no ray tracing etc. will be a problem in the future

I think they could lower the price by getting rid of the outer EyeSight display

I now bought the quest 3 512 GB at the new reduced price - having tried AVP I already know I’m going to mostly hate the Quest - it will be just an interim device until 2nd Gen AVP

It being a real computer would be a start. This is spatial iPad-ing, and that will never be mainstream, especially at the price tag. The platform identity crisis they're having is showing and sabotaging really impressive tech products that would otherwise have potential.

At 3499 it's not going to be the yet another product people buy for the ecosystem integration as they do with the AirPods, Apple Watch and iPads. They are afraid if iPads do the same things a Mac does it'll cannibalize sales and probably have the same worries with the Vision Pro replacing a Mac, but it should be aimed at that if they want it to get mainstream adoption while selling it at such cost. If it did the same things a Mac did, I'd keep it with an M1 too. The chip has nothing to do with it as the M2 is a perfectly adequate chip and will remain so for years to come.

Beyond the story with AVP, if an M5 Processor is going to be ready for AVP in Fall 2025- would M5 Max and Ultras be ready sooner for a Mac Studio? It seems a bit odd to release a Mac Studio in Spring 2025 with an M4 Max/Ultra when the M5 would be just around the corner.

Amazing, Incredible, Awesome…

Not a compelling device for the mainstream users. Anything that obstructs eyes will not be a great success IMO. Many may not feel comfortable wearing this for normal use. This can only be a special case device for medical, industrial and similar areas. This may not be even a great device for watching movies since it is going to strain your eyes.

Who wants to wear a big bulky eyesore on their face?
Be interesting to know how many of the early adopters are still regularly using this thing.
