Will stick with 6.5 OLED X plus for my next phone but no doubt sales wise this will sell the most.

I use 3D Touch constantly. Hell, the Taptic Engine is one of the main reasons I could never use an Android phone.

I'm honestly hoping that the 5.8 and 6.toobig will have feature parity. I hated having to use a gargantuan Plus phone just to get the best camera. I'm quite happy having the all-screen "little" phone now.

DOesn’t make sense to take something away from the LCD model that people already use and expect. If Apple wants to differentiate btwn the low & high end iphone...there are better ways than to take away something people already get with the low end model. I do not believe this rumor at all.

3D Touch sucks. Always has and always will. Apple has too much money and time on their hands and comes up with totally useless crap that no one wants. Touch Bar anyone? Yeah, I thought so. That sucks hard. No 3D Touch will be a reason to BUY the 6.1 model.

I'm still not convinced this 6.1" is actually a real planned product. The role for it that makes the most sense to me would be as a single model replacing both the iPhone and iPhone Plus as the iPhone X is effectively the same physical size as the iPhone 8 so people desiring a non-Plus sized phone would still have the option for something with the latest technology.

Provided Apple can get the 2018 5.8" OLED iPhone's list prices to match those of the 2017 4.7" iPhone's, I don't see any real blowback since the display is nicer and folks are getting used to the notch (and if the 6.1" also has a notch...).

As for 3D Touch, the iPhone SE does not have it and the rumored update is not expected to have it, either. So the 6.1" model would become the Plus to the SE's "standard" and 3D Touch could be a bifurcation / selling point to differentiate the OLED iPhones from the LCD ones.

One of Apple's underrated innovations.

I really wanted to like 3D Touch, and it is great in a couple of examples. But the reality is that for 90+% of my apps it does nothing other than offer a "share this app" link, it occasionally gets in the way of long presses, and my tablets don't have it.

I think Apple either needs to go into it 100% by putting it in every single touch device and strongly encourage its use in third party apps, or drop it completely. Right now it feels like a low priority, half-assed effort.

Nooooooooo! Actually, whatever.

I still forget it is there after 3 years. Though it is more useful than that touchbar, and up until now, it didn't add hundreds of dollars to the cost of a unit.

LOL WTF is up with the 3D Touch hate here? Apologist much?

IMO 3D Touch and Taptic Engine are an essential component of my all-screen iPhone X. Without the physical feedback, it would lack a dimension. It‘s not yet utilised to its full potential but it’s still one of the best features of iPhone X and I can’t imagine having an all-screen iPhone without it.

It would surprise me if this really is the feature where Apple wants to cheap out and further fragment the user experience but then again nothing surprises me anymore with this company nowadays.

One more Kuo reference, and I may start boycotting this site.

You Mean you’re going to start boycotting a website because a reliable analyst predicted something about a future rumored iPhone? (Which he makes many predictions with other Apple products, not just the iPhone) Don’t you think that’s the point of MacRumors, is to discuss rumors, predictions and the future of Apple product? Kuo has long history of being the most consistent and reliable analyst for obvious reasons.

They better keep two cameras in the 5.8, I can't imagine them changing that (?) without a drastic price drop. I've been waiting years to finally have the two camera setup, hoping to get the X2. Plus size phones are bricks to hold, I could never do it.

Kuo said the 3D Touch module may be removed from 2H18 6.1” LCD iPhone, but pressure sensing function, simulated by software, is likely to be retained.

"In our view, pressure sensing (3D Touch) has not been critical to user experience," he said. "Therefore, despite the performance of software simulation lagging that of 3D Touch module, it should still be sufficient to deliver on user experience."

Since the debut of 3D Touch with the iPhone 6s, I have used it for almost everything from the peak and pop features with messages, emails, even through various third-party applications and stock iOS applications. I find it to be highly convenient and an excellent shortcut without actually having to navigate through the whole application. So hopefully Apple still intends on using 3D Touch for the other models, even if it is true they will not implement 3D Touch for the 6.1 iPhone.

Also, I think more consumers would be willing to learn more about 3D Touch if Apple actually marketed it. I’m willing to believe the majority of consumers who have the ability to use 3D Touch, have no idea what it does, which is unfortunate.

So he doesn’t know anything. But hey it will generate lots of posts on how stupid 3D Touch is, I don’t use it therefore no one uses it etc. Well done.

Apple is not gonna go BACKWARDS in technology, trust me will will not see a physical home button for a long long time!!
