How times have changed since the first iPhone days.
Back then — the press didn’t have a clue about what was going to change the world - until SJ unveiled it.

Nowadays we hear about delays of a product nobody has ever seen - one year in advance

Everyone knew what Apple was doing, the same as this. We knew it was a phone, but had zero details. That was the surprise. Same with this, just rumors.

What really shook the world was how good it was. Caught everyone off-guard. And that's Steve's legacy. He ran those folks into the mud. Btw, Tim has got the playbook. ;)

People love the gadgets :D

Considering there is basically no use for these, and that all the other companies that sell them are not doing that great, I wouldn't be shocked if this was shelved forever.

There just is zero demand for this item, it's delay is a nothingburger.

At what point do we say these “rumors” are just fake news? From Prosser and the square Apple Watch 7 or new iPhone 13 Pro redesign or new MacBook coming at WWDC to Kuo to Gurman. I’m going to have to go back to waiting until apple announces something at wwdc or a press conference.

I can't believe we are still talking about total BS 💩 from a so-called insider who doesn't know his backside from a hole in the ground. This is nothing but vaporware IMO....

It does not matter, the first revision is gonna be Ultra Max BETA.

I don’t see folks being interested in a VR headset from Apple. AR glasses on the other hand would sell like hotcakes.
I agree, I really doubt Apple would release a VR headset. I can see AR glasses being the next big thing, but I wonder if the tech will be ready for that anytime soon.

I’m sure Apple has been testing a VR like headset for research and development hence the rumors. With all the Apple leaks I don’t think a lot of employees even know what’s going on. iPhone pill and hole for example.

Still think Apple might announce & demo this early-ish on in the year, and have it "coming soon" for a bit.
IIRC they did that with their last new product category – Watch

I wouldn't go that far. The Press was touting "The Apple TV set" (not box) as far back as 2006 that I can remember. Then the box came out and that was "Oh this is the first step, this will be integrated into a full set soon!"

My wife convinced me to try her Peloton today. I did a scenic ride through the Scottish highlands, and I could 100% see this being a perfect use case. I've been to the highlands once in my life, and the peloton tour was great. Took me right back there. Would I pay $3k to virtually tour the highlands (and other locations) any time I workout? ... Yep. And I'm betting a lot of other people would too.

I could see a whole ecosystem of add-ons like fans, heaters, coolers, etc. to enhance the experience. It won't be for everyone, but it would be really cool for a lot of people.

Siri was launched in 2010 and still "isn't great" (British understatement there). Based on that, I don't really have high expectations of the first few releases of the VR headset. Glasses would be awesome though. I think I'll wait a couple more years on this one.

Everything is delayed with Apple now days, also the whole wait and get it right doesn’t work because months of beta testing and still full of bugs software is never ok
I guess having 100,000s of beta testers is not enough when over a billion users will use it under various conditions and app combinations.
